Political parties and civil society organizations monitoring the printing of ballot papers in Johannesburg have dispelled allegations by the United Party for National Development (UPND) that special ballot papers specifically meant for the party’s stronghold areas with the ability to fade ink marks are being printed.
Nine political parties and three civil and faith based organizations this morning issued a signed press statement refuting the allegations.
Reverend Aaron Chilunjika of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia who read the statement on behalf of all the participating parties said the printing of ballot papers has been credible from the beginning.
Rev. Chilunjika said the monitors have also inspected the type of paper being used adding that the paper does not have any features that would make marks fade or move to another location.
“We have carefully and diligently observed the printing process from the beginning, and inspected the type of paper being used together as a team.
“Our faithful and sincere conclusion is as follows, the paper does not have hidden features as alleged, that would allow marks to shift to a location other than the original location in which the mark is placed nor fading of the marked ink on the ballot paper,” he said.

He also said the that ballot papers are being printed according to the number of registered voters in each constituency.
Rev Chilunjika assured all Zambians that the monitoring team will not allow anything that may harm the integrity and security of the country.
Political parties that signed the statement include NAREP, MMD,FDD, Christian Democratic Party, Forum for Democratic Alternatives, UNIP, Heritage, PF, Fourth Revolution while EFZ, Islamic Supreme Council and the NGO Zambia National Women’s Lobby Group.
The UPND and Green Party did not sign with the latter arguing that the allegations were directed at ECZ and not the monitors.
During a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, UPND vice president Cansius Banda alleged that his party had information that ballot papers meant for UPND strongholds were being printed on paper with chemical properties that allow ink marks to fade way in order to disadvantage the party in the January 20 presidential election.
Mr Banda further said there are plans to under-supply ballot papers to constituencies perceived to be UPND strongholds and asked the Electoral Commission of Zambia to make an assurance that the elections will be free and fair.

Even me as a stonch UPND Member I was doulting the varidity of the claim.
This is because from my analysis, this would only be possible if the elections were being organised and conducted by our corrupt and Lungu sided courts (Judiciary)
The ECZ seem to be more independent and transparent than our courts. So we also doulted that claim of rigging.
But if the courts were involved yes, the probability of having a rigged election would have been more than high; judging at how Miles Sampa’s case was handled.
But if ECZ was as corrupt as our Judiciary especially the High Court and the Supreme Court, then the claim by our party would have been varied.
Micheal sata would not have won if the ECZ was not reliable because of all presidents, Rupiah Banda was the worse corrupt.

Dr Canicius Banda is a genius. He has already seen ‘fading ink’ on ballot papers. How long does it take for the ink to fade? Before counting or after printing? What is fading ink? We need more information.
Kids stores sell diaries in invisible ink legible only with ultra violet torch or something. Fading ink is also available in the little magic trick boxes. The imagination and possibilities of the human mind are phenomenally engaging, huh? Good question. Enquiring mind want to know about the magic ballot papers.
Hmm. Will watch the campaigning from the ground in January.
At this point Campaign 01 has done most of the work and I am still puzzled by how one wins without hitting the ground running. PF were in opposition and successfully kicked out ruling incumbents rumoured to be rigging as well as running a pretty exhorbitant campaign.
This time the incumbents are late to the trail but exhibiting mysterious confidence that voters are still in love with them.
It sounds a tad like procrastination which lends itself to thoughts they have a by-any-means-possible game in mind.

Zambians forget very easily. Just 3 years ago in the last elections were you not the same people who believed that elections would be rigged by the same ECZ and MMD by the means of the pens to be used and you were advised to carry your own pens to the polling stations? Did you say at that time that PF had already lost the election when they alarmed the Nation to such an extent that they even sneaked in foreigners (as confessed by Kabimba) to ensure that elections were not rigged? The fact that Banda has brought these allegation, true or false, is actually good in that every one will be on the lookout before, during and after the voting to make sure that the elections are free and fair.
Please easy man, its not yet 21 January for you to start mourning so early. Wait for 21 January when your HH-UPND shall mourn uncontrollably.
Sir, we new just when the so called un ethical Banda was proclaiming falsehood. The HH_UPND camp has sensed a very shameful loss once again. So , they are trying by all means to build a screen saver image for hiding the impending catastrophic loss.

The PF presidential candidate, EDGAR Lungu is very specific in his campaign message unlike the UPND candidate.
EDGAR spells out clearly that he will:
1. Continue with infrastructure development started by Mr Sata, (Roads & bridges, modern airports, hospitals, schools, universities, housing, & decentralization among others)
2. Ensure ZRA collect the much needed taxes from all institutions, public and private
3. Remove middlemen in the fuel supply chain to make the commodity affordable to drive the economy
4. Bring milling companies to where the maize it produced
5. Promote youths who are entrepreneurs and innovators to create vibrant employment
6. Ensure electricity reaches all the corners of ZAMBIA
On the other hand, HH, the self claimed economic manager is too general…
It is true that if middle men were removed in the supply chain of fuel, then the cost of fuel would be reduced. I am sure that was the PF campaign message in 2011. How come it has taken long to implement this? May be the number of middlemen has increased. The only sure way of having a reasonable reduction in the pump price is by voting for HH. He has a better team to handle this, Mutati, Situmbeko and HH himself can easily handle this issue.
What ECZ should have done was to dig deeper and ask Dr Canisius Banda to prove his allegation. Signing a joint statement when you have no info about what is being alleged does not change reality on the ground. Any form of rigging or attempt to do so shall not be tolerated! We are alert!

These guys cannot know anything about rigging. It’s a fraud activity that is conducted outside the lenses of the watchful eyes. Those monitoring think printing of unauthorized and illegal pallor papers can be done in on an open platform. There are strong intentions to do so and all well meaning Zambians should keep watch.

My friends and I listened to Mr. Hichilema’s New Year message. He sounds so calm and collected. There’s something in his voice that inspires confidence – you feel like everything will be alright. Maybe because he speaks in slow measured tones. But even the timbre of his voice.

From past experience us bembas want things given free, or steal same as our cousins from the east. Face it Zambia, you still have more years of suffering. I don’t very much care but feel sorry because I still have relatives in that land. Let bembas go back to the north and eat cassava, no treasurers and east has nothing. The provinces that dominate politics have nothing to offer from where they come from. Electricity and food comes from the south.

Northerner, I agree with the term used, these animals have taken the country to the dogs. Sorry, I didn’t know lungu was in state house, okay then let him fix all these broken things. Police not cadres, judiciary not Chibesakunda and family, English speaking in government institutions and not bemba, educated CEOs not Nsanda, Educated ZNBC management not thieving Chungu and Mwamba. Pay farmers not fake infrastructure programs, buy ARVs for everyone not just PF members, dialysis for all patients not just people with money, Chikwanda dropped find a modern younger generation person. Look for candidates to fill goverment positions based on merit and not tribe. Mind you Tongas are more educated. Scott to remain vice just in case he has to act for another 90 days, he did well as a care taker. If this list is taken care of , then we can talk about 2021. Go LuNGU, Go…
Time is surely running out and it is becoming clearer of who is likely to become the next president of Zambia. UPND need to be sincere and act like a trustworthy and responsible party who cannot dwell or flourish in falsehood ,malice ,rumours and other petty vices aimed at discrediting a credible institution like ECZ. These cheap and uncalled tactics do not win battles against the giants but rather play negative psychological effect on would be voters. There is no need to panic or cause alarm when UPND have not tabled any tangible proof.We have every reason to trust ECZ that has facilitated three good elections where we have witnessed transfer of powers .If we asked ourselves a question ,”who can we trust between ECZ and UPND?”.Definitely ECZ!
Of all the political Parties and NGOS that signed the press statement, only FDD can be trusted. The rest are all coward hyenas. Never you even trust the loud mouthed Nevers Mumba.
