Creating good quality jobs

Recent efforts by the government to create jobs are not enough. Thousands of young Zambians enter the labour market each year. Without proper economic management, investment in education, and a focus on driving growth, only a small number of new jobs can be created and unemployment will remain a big problem.

Instead of the 200,000 decent jobs Zambians were promised, we have farmers who have not been paid, civil servants facing a wage freeze, and a cost of living that has increased across the country.

Many of the jobs that government has created have only been temporary or casual. Measure have failed to tackle the underlying causes of long-term unemployment.

If elected we will combine better economic management, youth empowerment, and education and training reform to create more jobs.

In particular we want to focus on youth empowerment. We need to empower those with business ideas to go out there and make them happen. This means providing support through increasing access to relevant training and affordable credit.

We must also work towards a situation where all Zambians, regardless of their gender or tribe have the same opportunities available to them in terms of education and training. Job vacancies must be filled according to merit and using open procedures.

Finally, government must set the standard for employee-employer relationships. This means treating those in its service with respect, upholding its obligations to them, and offering fair remuneration, whether they are in the armed forces, police, nurses, teachers or council and municipal employees.

    • Creating real jobs, improving the education system, lowering the cost of living, supporting farmers, providing cheaper healthcare, building BETTER roads and infrastructure. This is what HH promises to deliver. Lungu, if you have a vision and you believe you are the right candidate then accept HH’s invitation to a live televised debate to discuss these issues. HH is ready anytime.

    • On my way from Lusaka west I saw HH’s bill board that listed things like;

      More jobs
      Farmers
      Low mealie price, fuel
      bla bla bla.

But alas! There is no mention on how he will achieve such utopian intentions. The chap has completely lost it.

      At PF we are saying:

      1. “We shall reduce mealie price by SETTING UP MILLING PLANTS IN DISTRICTS”.

      2. We shall decentralize and create markets for agric produce by LINKING ZAMBIA

      3. Improve lives of people by L200 project, reopen NITROGEN CHEMICALS, KAPIRI GLASS FACTORY SOON etc

      4. Develop Western province by linking this important part through infrastructure development. Mongu-Kalabo road.

      5. Improve education, health..its all being done

      6. Respect the rule of law. Its evident.

      7. No abuse of public resources. Its our…

    • SO HH AGREES THAT PF HAS REALLY PUT IN EFFORT TO CREATE JOBS HAS HE SAYS “EFFORT BY PF TO CREATE JOBS NOT ENOUGH”. Also He must realize that 3 Years that PF has been in power is not enough to put their effort to create jobs to the full, they need 10 years to do so.

    • HH: “Recent efforts by the government to create jobs are not enough”

      This is very true.

Wise Minds & John : “All efforts require good time to be fully implemented and generate indisputable results”

      This too is very true.

    • HH is a demagogue. How much he pays his farm workers? Peanuts. I dare him to disclose to the voters what is he paying his farm workers, what are the working hours, what working conditions he has given them, what accommodation he provides them (I am no asking for title deeds for his workers as promised by him for miners- as if it is his father’s property to dish out free houses from treasury and when it comes to his own money he is worse than Kamwala traders). His farm workers are the least paid workers in Zambia. Let him deny it!! HH is surrounded by Hustlers-Hookers (HH-of the type of Masebo, Maureen, Katele Kalumba, Mutati, Dipak Patel). Immoral slimy creatures. Elitists selling dreams to the gullibles. Shameless Hustlers-Hookers (HH).

    • @Gen

You’ve made me laugh, thank you. You saw a billboard.

A billboard. You expected the manifesto to be shown on the billboard??!!!

Billboards are a quick read; like an advertisement. You have to go elsewhere for a more comprehensive statement, bro.

oh and if you go ahead and listen very carefully, you’ll hear the familiar sound of no one caring what you saw on your way from Lusaka West.

    • Walk the talk Mr. HH. You are exploiting workers at your farms. They work long hours (12 hours are the minimum- 7 days a week). Is that the employer-employee standard you will follow, if God forbidden, you ever land into Top Job?

Zambians, fellow brothers and sisters, talking is easy, walking the talk is what differentiate a Wheeler dealer from a Doer. Vote wisely, vote for humble, simple, focused and sincere EL.

    • OK. SO YOU KNOW THAT PF PUT EFFORT IN CREATING JOBS? SO, YOU SHOULD KNOW ALSO THAT THAT EFFORT IS STILL IN PLACE AND FRUITS CAN ONLY FULLY MATERIALISE AFTER 5 YEARS IN OFFICE. MENTIONING 5 YEARS- MOST OF THE PROJECTS BY PF ARE NOW VERY VISIBLE AND PEOPLE ARE APPRECIATING. THAT’S WHY THEY ARE GIVING PF AT LEAST 2 TERMS IN OFFICE.

VOTE EL ON 20 JANUARY 2015.

  3. Lets go Zambia we want sanity in politics! Not where all the ministers and heads of parastatal companies come from one region. From that point people are able to see which political party is tribal! This is a failed state under PF.

  4. Ati lungu can’t sign a social contract! He wants to be telling us that we wont eat the constitution. He wants to give our children tu ma piece work of cleaning the railway tracks, spreading cement on the roads during road rehabilitation then reports that he created 5,000 jobs.

    Ifintu (things) ni lungu
    KATEKA (THE RULER/PRESIDENT) NI HH

  5. EL is afraid of a live debate because of these issues. EL please come and articulate your vision (or Satas vision).

    So size!

    Viva HH

    • Talk is cheap. being a good debater doesn’t mean you are a good leader. Actually good leaders are more action oriented than debating. Talking Talking Talking yields no results, its all but theoretical ideas..

    • EL is a clueless, vision-less leader. He is surrounded by like of Nsanda, Emmanuel Mwamba and Harry Kalaba. What qualifications to these 3 have? What have they archived in life? ZERO! Edgar is a loser, drunk and crook. Can LAZ tell us why he was debarred?

  6. Talking too much like HH doesn’t work well what Chiluba did. Good speaker but full of theft. This applies to HH, he wants people to hear him but he ll do is rubbish.

  7. HH has has openly accepted and acknowledged that PF has made good progress and needs more time. Paying huge salaries for public workers will not balance the books for the government and this will lead to over borrowing. Too many promises that can not be fulfilled. Sata said I can to. This in 90 days and this was in reference to the level of money and materials MMD had during the campaigns. Sata said if they can dependike this and they are saying the govt has money I can equally do the same projects in 90 days. This became a talk till now. 20 yrs ago Zambia has nothing today more roads , hospitals, schools, jobs and the future is bright. Businesses flourishing thanks to PF

    • From Sata’s promises Zambians now know that mere promises doesn’t get you bread on the table. It’s good Sata promised and we have learnt from it. We can now see through all mere political promises, They mean nothing!!

  8. Live Debate Mr. Lungu, please sir!

Live debate! Live debate! Live debate! Live debate! Live debate! Live debate!

  9. i see lone open vans driven by young boys covered with late sata s chitenge materials carrying boys drinking beers . driving fast shouting fintu ni lungu is that the way to campaign. i thought one would use people who would tell people thier candidate is going to do for the people. what is the meaning of fintu ni lungu is that massage enough to communicate to voters . anyway i feel pit for these guys . and the winner of these presidential election is …. hh 2015

    • And your HH is different he is also doing the same loading youths who are drunk going round that campaign. He benefitted from privatisation which left thousands in poverty today he wants to lie to us. He called Sata Chibwi no plan but today he is singing that he will continue with the projects. He goes to Solowezi and says your money is being taken to Muchinga busy practicing regionalism. What kind of leadership. Most of the companies he heads he pays pennants. From the two Edgar is more sincere than HH . Listening to HH its all about him

  10. Please Zambian have you notice what HH does when ever he speaks? (uku myanga pa mulomo ) that is the signs of cheaters . Watch out of his bundle of promises.

  11. EVEN HH’s BODY LANGUAGE SELLS HIM OUT BIG TIME THAT HE IS A BIG LIER. WHEN YOU LOOK AT HIS FACE CRUELTY SHOWS OUT. VOTERS, DON’T PUT THAT GUY IN PLOT 1. YOU WILL REGRET. JUST VOTE EDGAR LUNGU.

    • I agree, even when he smiles, he looks like Lucifer’s agent. No Lucifer’s agent will reign over Zambia. I decree and declare that Zambia is called by the most High’s name, and therefore any one who wants Zambians to scatter in the name of illuminati, will NEVER sit on the throne of Zambia. I decree and declare that only the Chosen one will sit on the throne of Zambia. What is chosen on earth is chosen in heaven.

    • @Peter

      iyeee Peter…..inee uluse.

how did you even manage to communicate with border agents at Heathrow? and they allowed you in? I’m surprised

ooooooh! its just occured to me that you probably have a diplomatic passport, courtesy of your yama/tata/sister/mulamu/umu fyala/aba pongoshi/etc

well you have some bad news coming your way on the 20th…..

    • @Diva

Geeze you don’t half talk nonsense!

Start by changing your name from Diva – Diva implies sophistication, accomplishment …..and beauty.

Your words confirm that you are an unsophisticated, stup!d ,not-so-good-looking God-botherer.

      Go Away.
