The Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) has apologized for the statements attributed to its National Executive Committee Chairman Kabinga Pande and Elijah Muchima that Kasempa and Mwinilunga were no go areas for the MMD and Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Pande and Mr Muchima are both MMD Members of Parliament in the North western province.

MMD acting National Secretary Mwansa Mbulakulima said such developments were unfortunate and simply showed the level to which politicians are willing to sink in their desperate scramble for survival.

Mr. Mbulakulima said it was awkward that Mr. Pande who is Kasempa Member of Parliament had been with MMD for a long time but never understood that the party is the mother of democracy and introduced Multi-party politics in Zambia in 1991 where all parties are supposed to be free to practice politics, enjoy freedom of movement and speech unhindered by any one.

In a statement availed to media in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mbulakulima said MMD president Nevers Mumba was already addressing the matter adding that all those MMD Members of Parliament campaigning for other political parties were at risk of expulsion.

Mr. Mbulakulima has since urged the nation not to fear but ignore the statements by Mr. Pande and Mr Muchima adding that they have potential of inciting violence in a campaign period which so far has been relatively peaceful.

He said the MMD held peaceful campaign rallies in North western province including Mwinilunga where Dr. Mumba promised the electorate that if voted for he would construct Peter Matoka University in the area.

And Mr. Mbulakulima has urged the United Party for National Development (UPND) to distance itself from what he called autocratic and primitive statements so that they too are not misunderstood.

  1. Nevers Mumba you such a hypocrite, can you please be sensible for once. Mumba has been campaigning in North-Western freely, and he should start issuing such rubbish remarks.

How many times have we heard PF and MMD members say such and such area is a no-go-area for UPND? And yet Nevers Mumba has never come out to condemn—–but he should condemn now because the statements are coming from an MP from North-West.

If Nevers Mumba had leadership credentials he should`ve condemned the violence that happened in Shiwangandu but for his own reasons he chose not too.

There is just something weird with tribalists. When it suits them they don`t condemn but when they want to gain some political capital, you see how they come out. And we`re told such people are Christians, give me a…

  2. upnd ,you dont condeme those surporting you when they isue stupid and alarmimg startments bodering on breach of peace and yet you upnd you cry for U N when you mistake rain to violence and made to run like chickerns trying to escape an attack by pungwa!!!!!!! upnd grow up and stop blaming pf for your own violence. hh you lost the coming elections long time ago. people vote edgar and this under five hh.

    • The problem we have in Zambia is most politicians within parties are not disciplined. They think that they are above the law, better than everyone else, power hungry and misuse authority. Hence they just utter anything without thinking of the consequences. As a country most of us are self centered and arrogant. That is why people like Pande have no regard for others and utter piffle.
There is so much ignorance and poverty in Zambia that some citizens have no integrity or dignity.

    • VOTING FOR PF = VOTING FOR CORRUPTION, POVERTY, LIES, VIOLENCE, LAWLESSNESS, CONFUSION, INEPT LEADERSHIP, BROKEN PROMISES.

  3. either they are with us or against us.they think they will destroy MMD.but they wil receive a shock of their lives.

    • This is what happens when the ruling party ignores people in certain regions and concentrates development in what they take as strongholds! This is natural resentment coming out of PF negligence! It has nothing to do with UPND!
Let PF apologise to those it left out on their so called development agenda!

Don’t say we never warned you PF! You MCS was adamant on this and you never bothered to advise correctly because you had your bellies and pockets to protect.

Now you have the audacity to come back to ask for votes from those you have treated as second class citizens? PF should blame itself for this! You reap what you sow!

  4. Shocking stance from Pande and Muchima. Resorting to primitve tendencies of tribalism and regionalism in this day and age! What kind of management did Pande practise when he worked at Bank of Zambia. His true colours are now out for all to behold. A rabid tribalist!

  5. Mumba should not cry like an Eskimo because of that remark. That was timely advice. He is just wasting time and money.

  6. I thought Kapinga Pande and Elijah Muchina are both MMD MPs! How come they are in a “no go area” for MMD? How did they manage this feat?

  7. Dr. Mumba is a strong man. Can you imagine having children who are saying everyone called by my father’s name should not be allowed to set a foot here? Come 2016, MMD and PF will have a small number of MPS should another Party win.

  8. @Patriot- Rational @ radical Bloggers do not comment anyhow like you do without critical developmental issues in your comments apart from Tujilijili will win!Can you seriously reflect on the prevailing social-economic turmoils that PF has embedded the majority Zambians in.Your PF can not even tell Zambians about the MDGs 2015-This is 2015 & which goal has Zambia attained-zero.Look at the violence which your Libongani,Kampyongo & Tujilijili including Muzungu wopusa are condoning in this country. They are insidiously & perpetually embracing violence hence these statements from Pande!Surely,Who does not know that MPs do not own constituencies but see what illiterate Kampyongo & Kalaba said yesterday after that primitive ancientic attack on those two innocent statewomen.I think…

  9. !Surely,Who does not know that MPs do not own constituencies but see what illiterate Kampyongo & Kalaba said yesterday after that primitive ancientic attack on those two innocent statewomen.I think Patriot & your friends MUST have helicopter views of social events & level headed when blogging otherwise your comments are irritating & childish!

  10. This confirms it!
Zambia is a failed state and it’s just a matter of a spark before it ignites!
The current arrangement of centralized power is not working!
We urgently need to cancel these elections and postpone them to 2016! Guy Scot can take charge till then on condition he remains neutral.
Meanwhile, let us start a process towards Federal governance where each province exercises self-determination!
It is better to have one failed province than for the entire country to be labelled Failed!

  11. I think HH is the true candidate for this election . A statement like this is a no go area without violence without panga’s and without a physical attempt to stop others from campaigning in those areas is different from actual physical restriction with intention to harm as it was in Shiwangandu
