The United Party for National Development (UPND) says former President Rupiah Banda is exhibiting hypocrisy by endorsing the same party he a few weeks ago said had eroded the gains Zambia made during the MMD’s reign.
UPND Deputy National Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo says Mr Banda will not add any value to PF campaigns, but will simply send the PF to grave.
Mr Lifwekelo has questioned the sincerity of Mr Banda’s statement that the PF is the best party for Zambia when a few weeks ago he stated that he had come back to politics to correct the economic and political wrongs the PF has committed against the Zambian people and put the country back on track.
Mr Lifwekelo has also dismissed Mr Banda’s assertion that the PF wanted the MMD to be a strong party, wondering why the PF Government wanted to deregister the former ruling party if they want the MMD to be strong.
And Mr Lifwekelo has appealed to the fourth republican President to help put to an end the political violence being perpetrated by suspected PF cadres now that he has decided to endorse the ruling party.
He says Mr Banda should help put an end to the political violence in the country if he still has a heart for the people of Zambia.
Meanwhile UPND Lubwa Ward Information and Publicity Secretary Chisankama Mudenda has appealed to Acting President Guy Scott to allow the men and women in uniform to cast their votes before they leave on a peace keeping mission in the Central African Republic.

Real news is that HH is now polling at 82% while Lungu and others share the 16% according to latest Muvi TV polls for last week.
The independent observer- Zambia based in the copper belt puts HH at about 50% while Lungu at 45%.

I do not have a problem with UPND, my opprobrium is more of HH, who I am not convinced is worthy of being the next President. I think he is a little inexperienced.
Obviously he is the pulse rate of UPND , that I understand.
I dont know him well enough to make a well informed judgement on his credentials, certainly I am not convinced he would live up to the high standards of Mr Sata.
With Lungu the little that I know about him suggests I refuse to support him. He is oboxious and more importantly doesnt instil confidence in me, non whatsoever.

To or not to support a party is a very personal decision and no one can argue with that. You will also have some reasons why as seen already by the name calling in your comment. One thing I am sure is that with or without your support Zambia will go on and a president will be elected. It is difficult to change everything to your liking especially that it has taken 50 years to create the kind of Zambian politics we have today. To change this kaponya-style of politics will take another 50 or more years for sure. But what we can do is start somewhere and inch ourselves towards civilized politics of development and progress. In 2008, BANDA won the presidency with 40% of the vote. In that election SATA got 35%.
In 2011, SATA won the Presidency with 42%. Meaning he made up a 7% shortfall from the previous election. Now PF (EL) will still maintain most of SATA’s support. This will now be boosted with BANDA’s supporters.
On the other hand HH’s support dropped from 25% in 2008, to 18% in 2011. To win this election he roughly needs to make up about 25% more. Where is this going to come from? From a ONE TRIBE Province / Party? LOL!

And if you look at the numbers attending his rallies coupled with what they have done in the three years and now, with RB’s support, you must be very sick in your heads to imagine that you will be anywhere near 50% of the votes they will amass in this up coming general election. UPND and HH- candidate more popular than the party because the initial for a candidate are very easy to market than the party. Even my grand mother can’t not say “UPND”. The learned one mistakes it for UNDP. The Director is working with product which at once reached the growth stage and later on lost customers due to limited target market. At the moment the product is entering a growth stage but it has been branded with old feature that have been tasted by the customers. PF and Lungu- Both the candidate and the party are popular and easy to mention for communication purposes, even the learned and unlearned ones can easily mention the names. The product is already at growth stage and striving to be at maturity stage. The market for the product is there only that it needs reliable customers to push it to maturity stage. There is need for customer care and continue building more confidence in the customers. The product has been tested by the customer and the customers look at it with less risk. MMD-Nevers- both the party and candidate are less popular among the customers. Both names are very easy for communication purpose only that it is done by the customer in the negative way. The reason is simple the Director is dealing with a product that has reached a decline stage therefore it is almost going out of the customers mind because it had saturated the market. At this stage you expect the customers to look elsewhere for a new taste. The real reason why RB endorsement of EL is making so much discussion is that RB is still a factor in Zambian politics. As we all know Zambia is very small. Believe it or not RB is in the top 10 politicians in the country. RB and KK are the only former presidents alive today. Taking about KK, he may not endorse EL publically, but he will vote for EL. That is a fact.
