The United Party for National Development (UPND) has intensified its Presidential campaigns and its candidate, Hakainde Hichilema, is now in the Western Province for a series of rallies ahead of the elections slated for January 20, 2015.

Mr Hichilema arrived at Mongu Airport in Mongu district yesterday around 17:30 hours and proceeded to Mulambwa Basic School ground where he held a mammoth public rally.

Mr Hichilema promised the people of Western province to reduce the price of fertilizer for them to grow more maize resulting into reduced mealie meal prices once voted into power.

He also promised to improve the health, education, and livestock sectors among others and create decent and permanent jobs for the citizenry.

The UPND leader added that he would strike a balance when forming his cabinet rather than having it dominated by people from specific regions and thanked his entourage from various political parties for deciding to re-unite and campaign for him.

Mr Hichilema was accompanied by Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President, Charles Milupi with his Luena Member of Parliament (MP), Getrude Imenda, Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) MP for Nalikwanda, Geoffrey Lungwangwa, for Liuwa, Situmbeko Musokotwane, and Likando Mufalali, for Senanga.

Others were former MMD National Chairman and Mulobezi MP, Michael Mabenga, former Western province Minister and Mongu MMD MP, Joseph Mulyata, and former Communications and Transport Minister and MMD Senanga MP, William Harringtone.

At the same rally Kenneth Namutulo, who was Patriotic Front Provincial Chairman and his Vice Treasurer, Sitali Simushi, defected from the ruling party, the PF, to the UPND.

Meanwhile, activities in Mongu Town came to a standstill yesterday afternoon as thousands of UPND supporters flocked to Mulambwa Primary School ground for UPND President Hakainde Hichilema’s rally that took place late in the evening.

  1. The only thing PF has done in WP for the last three years is 12km of Mongu township roads and declaring 9 districts without infrastructure. Whilst I support creation of districts, I don’t think the manner they were done is health.

    • Edgar is he man the Zambian people deserve for continued peace, stability and prosperity.

      January 20, 2015, vote Edgar C. Lungu

      The other one Halelusa Hagain

    • Ba LT you are late again why? This is from the archives of other papers. Next please.

Flight HH is now smaller towns in Western province.

    • The Mungu Rally was mammoth and these pictures cannot do it justice. The Podium was in the center and the people surrounded it in all directions as far as the eye could see. But I think we need to spend these last two weeks in Lusaka and on the Copperbelt. I think we can take the copperbelt. Chingola is already in the books, so is Luanshya, Ndola and Kitwe are very close and so is Mufulira and Kalulushi. CB is a very important voting block and if take it or loose by a close margin, then it is over, no matter what happens in Eastern and Northern. Lets Go HH, let us retire the Panga Family and Judge Ngoma, Bowman Lunsambo and Skopion Kadobi.

    • I like your use of the word ‘mammoth’, LT but it was silly of you to have used it in the Shangombo case with a tiny group!

    • Is your president in your own dreams,Sata won presidential elections with few votes from western & north western ,therefore PF will never be sway away with those region rallies from your tribal cousins.

  2. I cant wait to hear the results of the elections.HH should not be confident that he is going to win because of the number of people that attend his rallies in UPND strong holds because it is normal and it is expected that any political party that holds a rally in their strong hold a lot of people will attend the rally. The numbers at the rally do not translate into the number of votes. Some people go to rallies for curiosity purposes and it is unfortunate that UPND supporters think that the number of people at rallies is an expression of support for HH.By the way how is HH going to solve the outstanding Barotseland agreement problem? What is HH’s possition on this issue

    • HH is a good negotiator, a good communicator. He has dealt with the issue of Barotseland with the major stakeholders very well. So, give him the vote and enjoy a prosperous and peaceful Zambia. With HH, Zambia will NEVER sleep back to mediocrity.

  3. It will be foolhardy for people of provinces such as Western and North-Western to vote for PF because there is nothing in it for them. People from those provinces are better of voting for UPND because like Mwanawasa, HH will attend to their plight. Sata concentrated on the northern regions and Lungu will no doubt concentrate on the northern and eastern regions. Leopards never change their spots.

  4. HH ayonda nicani, kapena adwala? Please a Dr Caniscious Banda tiozeni ngati niconco kaili ndimwe mule nama documents ya health on presidential candidates.

  5. UPND chaps lets talk again on 21 Jan. Please prepare to help us usher into state house our beloved president of the republic Hon Edgar C. Lungu.

HH will need about 2 million votes to even compete with EL.

    Viva EL

  6. Son of the soil, son of our motherland, son of Africa, at this pace u are going, u will make PF commit suicide. They can not believe what has hit them. Some PF members think it is sunami that has hit them while others think it is dangerous tornado. And yet others think it is an atomic bomb. This has forced PF to go to bed with Mr Rupia Bwezani Banda, the man Given Lubinda tossed gin & tonic when his immunity was removed barely 2 1/2 yrs ago. Lubinda is now stranded. RB is now tossing gin & tonic over Lubinda. RB has completely taken over PF. I wud not be surprised if he stands on of PF faction ticket in 2016 as PF is likely to scatter & break up in smaller & regional parties after 20 Jan 2015.

  7. wanzelu open your eyes,if you wont see just know that you are blind and that’s why you cant see that hh is going.continue comforting youself with madness

  8. salaula you are real and this makes sick in brain.if you have nothing to say just keep quiet than vomiting madness.hh is fit mybe lungu

  9. WILLIAM HARRINGTONE IN HIS 70S WAS KNEELING BEFORE HH WHO IS 52 YEARS. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL RESPECT FOR YOUR ELDERS HH STYLE.
WOULD ECL HAVE ALLOWED SUCH? I DON’T THINK SO.

LETS VOTE FOR SOME ONE WHO HAS RESPECT FOR ELDERS

    2015 VOTE ECL

  10. The support for HH in Western is simply fantastic and there are no words to describe it. The Lozi peoples’ support even exceeds that of Southern Province where HH hails from, according to statistics. This reminds me of the support the Southerners gave Chiluba- 100% for two terms, more than what the Northern territories could muster.

  11. Keep going HH. You have put in tremendous work in these campaigns. Educating the electorate, listening to their concerns, promising workable solutions and looking at potential in each district.
You deserve the presidency and any Zambian who has the interest of the country will vote for you on 20/0/2015.

    Viva HH, Viva UPND.

  12. Our prayer is that God will listen to the cries of the many suffering Zambians due to poor and useless leadership. May He give us a leader who will unite us (Barotseland, Eastern, Northern, Southern, Northwestern, CB, Luapula, Central, Lusaka and Muchinga). These credentials are clearly seen in HH. May he be that son of the soil to lead a blessed country.

  13. Please my man, don’t allow RB and Dora endorsement. He’s shameless, he can wake up tomorrow and chose to endorse you.

  14. UPND + HH are mortgaging our country by taking money from shady sources, and there is no way in which they can control corruption if they are using such much for their campaigns! Watch out Zambians; what have they promised in return for the money?

  15. People commend mwanasa for doing what? Cancelling kaloba? or my foot!! PF has done a lot for this country. Zambia could have remained backward hard it not for PF to open up the country through roads. When HH takes over every thing will come to stand still. You will just be hearing theories, nothing to see on the ground, exactly what happened during mwanawasa time.

The guy has no slight clue on how to run gvt even the promises he has been making are all cooked up promises. Be carefull Zambians, don’t be deceived. You have see what the PF has done and still doing. Remember, if you make a mistake, it will take years to reverse it. Let me remind about a good leader, He does not fight to get to the top, people propel him to the to. A bad leader fights to get to the top.

    • Just say PF has done a lot for the northern region(Luapula, muchinga and northern provinces) not the whole of Zambia. Mwanawasa was a great man who had the whole of Zambia at heart not the kaponyas before him and after him. HH will be like Mwanawasa because he is going to work for the whole Zambia not just for northern and eastern regions like Sata and Lungu.

    • Upnd please you are irritating us bakaponya bakaponya! What have done to you and your hh come 20 we ensure we vote the humble man lungu so that yousa sacastic hh upnd go into retirement
