MMD executive committee explains the boycott on nevers Mumba’s rally in Kalabo

Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Kalabo District Executive Committee members have said the team resolved to boycott Dr Nevers Mumba’s rally held fours day ago because they have endorsed United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema in the January 20th Presidential by-election.

District Chairman David Nyundu told ZANIS in an interview that the entire district executive committee would not rally behind Dr Mumba as they were working on what was resolved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) hence boycotting the rally.

Mr Nyundu was reacting to calls by residents and some members who wanted to know why the district executive committee did not attend the rally when party president visited Kalabo as part of his campaign tour of Western Province.
He said the committee does not regret the action made.

The team further disclosed that they could have still not supported the former Zambian President Rupiah Banda had he gone ahead and contested the seat.

Mr Nyundu noted that it was not healthy for Mr Banda to think of coming back into active politics adding that if Zambians needed him they could have given him a more than three years mandate.

The committee vowed never to support Mr Banda’s move to support another candidate as opposed to MMD National Executive Committee‘s resolution to support Mr Hichilema.

Mr Nyundu has since appealed to MMD members to vote for Mr Hichilema.
“Mr Rupiah Banda can never win an election, let him retire from active politics with dignity and leave politics for young one,” Mr Nyundu observed.

    • HH WAS SUSPENDED IN SECOND YEAR AT UNZA FOR EXAM CHEATING.
HH WITH CHILUBA, BENNIE MWIINGA(AN UNCLE TO HH) PLUNDERED RESOURCES IN PARASTATAL COMPANIES WHICH, HH WAS TASKED TO PRIVATISE.
WHILE HH CAN CLAIM HE DID NOT STEAL, HE UNDER VALUED PARASTATAL COMPANIES WHICH WERE LATER BOUGHT BY EITHER CHILUBA OR HIS CRONIES OR HH AND HIS FAMILY. AN EXAMPLE IS THE LIMA BANK HOUSE IN KABULONGA WHICH HH SOLD TO HIMSELF. UNDER VALUING AN ASSET TO BENEFIT ONE SELF IS STEALING FROM THE PEOPLE.
WILL THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA ENTRUST THE HIGHEST POSITION IN THE LAND TO AN EXAM CHEAT? I DONT THINK SO.

    • I also bought a counsel house. It was not valuated by HH.

    • Stop this terrible slander Mwine Munzi. We are checking on your credentials and will get you to prove your slanderous unfounded allegation in court.

  3. @Vaat Daar Foot
People have a democratic right to choose who is worth casting their vote on. Others trust violent party that has killed, murdered, maimed and hacked each other, even today have killed an innocent Zambian in Mongu. The choice is theirs. Don’t mourn and insult Zambians, they are fed up with mediocre leadership.

  4. Surprised! Some citizens can close their ears from listening what a politician has to say? Some Lozi’s are ignorant of what democracy implies. Every worthy Zambian needs to listen to what each of the 11 candidates wants to tell them, and then make an informed decision about who to vote for. Wake up Kalabo District Committee members!

    • Time is limited. Time is the scariest resource in life. Those Malozi in Kalabo are smart enough not to waste their time on a useless politician. They have made their choice and prioritized their time. Nervous Mumba is a time waster.

  5. Nervous Mumba is the only peaceful candidate among all. Zambia being a peaceful nation, we need to people who can maintain peace in the nation. Mumba we are behind you.

  6. This is a very good example of how the average Zambian voter thinks. You read this and surely you feel like throwing up. How does a sane man think like this, very dull district committee with completely no vision. Was it Banda who was addressing the rally? Can’t you question what your *****ic NEC has directed you to do? Dull lot!

  7. Doctor,

I think you have missed the point ..

These men are certainly not dull at all but very clever. In order to support HH, they decided to play dumb and refer to earlier resolution relayed to them by NEC. They know that NEC is divided and cannot agree on which candidate who support. Its free for all in the MMD, with confusion have struck through all of the party ranks..The only one who is not benefiting is Nevers Mumba, hence this article.
