Chief Mumena of the Kaonde people in North Western Province has called on candidates to be open minded on the out come of the forth coming Presidential elections.

Speaking when FDD leader Edith Nawakwi paid courtesy call on him at his palace in Solwezi Tuesday, the Tradition leader observed that the FDD president unlike other candidates in the Presidential race has humbled herself to the electorates hence exhibiting rear leadership qualities which should be an example to fellow contenders in the race.

His Royal Highness noted that some candidates have been going around the country country behaving as if they had already been sawn in and wondered what would happen to the country when these same leaders lose the elections.

He advised other leaders to take leaf from the FDD President who has carried out issue based campaigns with demonstration of how she will tackle the challenges affecting the masses in the country including the unequal distribution of the nation’s wealth.

“We have noticed that some candidates that some candidates are moving around the country behaving and talking like they have already won the elections now we wonder what will happen to them and the country when the lose.”

The traditional leader further acknowledged the need for remodeling the way resources are distributed by government as the current system perpetrates inequalities.

He added that there is need to include locals in the way resources are distributed and managed something he said would help in directing resources were its needed as only locals on the ground understands their needs in different areas.

“I agree with you when you say there is need for people to be involved in solving their problems in different areas because what is happening now is definitely not working for our people who are still wallowing in poverty despite sitting on wealth.

“We will continue singing about poverty if we don’t change our approach on how we try to solve different challenges in different areas because the “one solution fits all approach” has not worked for the last 50years and will continue to fail as different areas require different solutions,” he said.

And the tradition leader says there is need for the country to enact a constitution which can easily be interpreted by citizens.

He said it was disappointing to note that learned people who are suppose to help the public understand certain issues in the constitution were the ones confusing the public.

“We need a construction which is easy to interpret even by those who are not learned. It is disappointing to see people, learned people who are supposed to help our people understand these issues failing to do so.

Some political parties can’t even properly interpret their own party constitution. Why have a constitution which anyone can interpret to suit himself/herself according to situations,”observed the fractional leader.”

Meanwhile his Royal Highness expressed concern that the forth coming Presidential elections will record massive voter apathy especially in rural areas due to ignorance.

He said people in rural areas were ignorant about the coming election because there hasn’t been voter education which he noted was no ones fault because of the limited time in which the polls are being held.

The opposition leader was in the province campaign king for the forth coming presidential elections.

here is one that is uneducated who has no right to be saying what he saying.

    Thanks

    • Don’t you also want to know why they wear skirts like Scottish men? … just look for dandruff on their feet or shoes, and you’ll know.

    • This chief is more educated than you and your white boyfriend combined. He served Zamtel diligently as an engineer. So, get a life and take your frustrations to Edgar and HH!

    • On the contrary. This guys is saying sense. Mines are in his Chiefdom and has tasted bitter panacea of mining development with his subjects working on the mines et al are not allowed access to facilities developed by the sweat of their labour.

    • Mwamba is right.
Chief Mumena is not an ignoramus. The man is educated and has a cool head on his shoulders. I have been to this palace and broke bread with him. His dom is a wonderful area.

Comment on things you know, people!

    • This uncultured man called Mushota! Chief Mumena is an exemplary Leader, you cannot say such to him Loser. Do not compare him with the uneducated lot from your village. Do not use this tool to demean others, sometimes being quiet is all that matters.

  2. I just hope my brother HH who has already declared himself a winner of this election will not cause problems to the country when he loses next week. All his chances got spoiled at the last minute because of excitement and desperation.

  3. The idea of chiefdoms must be abolished. Frankly, no one must be born with an advantage. But that said, wise words, but you must be telling that to perennial loser HH!

    • Of course you want to abolish anything that is part of our traditional history. People like you do!

No sense of identity and self-pride! Meanwhile you rush to live in other countries and admire their culture. South Africa, the UK and many others all maintain their traditional leadership structures (albeit as figureheads).

Oh, and you forgot to say “Ifintu ni Lungu” and say he’s the chosen and annointed one, in contradictory to your “Frankly, no one must be born with an advantage.”

    • YOU ARE RIGHT TO SAY THE IDEA OF CHIEFDOMS “MUST BE ABOLISHED”. HOWEVER, YOU FORGOT TO COMPLETE YOUR SENTENCE BY ADDITIONALLY SAYING, ‘AND REPLACED BY KINGDOMS’.
ALL PARAMOUNT CHIEFS IN ZAMBIA MUST BE TURNED/RETURNED INTO KINGS/QUEENS BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT THEY WERE BEFORE AN ENGLISH MAN ABOLISHED THE KINGSHIP IN ZAMBIA AND TOLD ZAMBIA’S KINGS THAT THERE IS ONLY ON KING IN THE WORLD AND THAT KING IS THE KING OF ENGLAND. IF ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW MORE, PLEASE ASK CHITIMUKULU (CHANDA SOSALA).

  4. @chiefs are important ,even so called whites still have monarch like the queen of Britain ,for example. Its not wise for chief mumena to despise presidential leaders for expressing confidence that they are winning,It is the same like a teacher who says a pupil should not be proud to say I will pass the exam, when pupil is done his home work.that teacher can be described as jelousy .so chief mumena pleae don’t insult or underrate your future president.

    • SIDO MARK, Zambia is at a level where humility is still an essence. Unfortunately even in the developed West, PHDs do not mark leadership qualities. First Degree Holders and professionals soar leadership wings.

It is all different ball game. The educated are very critical to be carrying simple summaries of ideas, they would rather uncover lies and rhetoric as it comes unrefined. It is more honouring and affirmative. A source of pride for the educated…I defend the think tanks.

  5. The chief is very right when he warns the self proclaimed winner of this Presidential elections . HH was warned by Guy Scott that, your campaign gains will be crushed to nothing when the might PF starts its campaigns. Saturday is one of the most embarrassing and lowest point for HH and UPND how on earth could cadres and senior members act in such worst form of approach detaining the trucks and the outcome was as predicted by the most violent person William Banda what about if the content of the trucks are not marked ballot papers? Shame
