“Allow workers to vote on Tuesday”,- Dr Scott

Share

Acting President Guy Scott has called on employers in the country to ensure that they allow their workers to vote in Tuesday’s Presidential election.

Dr. Scott says no employee should be disenfranchised on account of their duty or work schedule.

The Acting President says he has declared Tuesday, the polling day, a public holiday so that all citizens including workers can exercise their right to vote.

Dr. Scott was speaking when he addressed a public rally at Ibenga main market in Luanshya.

He says next week’s presidential election is NOT about changing a government but merely replacing late President Sata, whom he referred to as father of the nation.

Dr. Scott has asked Zambians to vote for PF candidate Edgar Lungu so that the PF government can continue with its infrastructure development programme.

Earlier, Sports Minister, Chishimba Kambwili has urged Zambians not to allow tribal politics to take root in Zambia.

Mr. Kambwili has warned that Zambia risks losing the peace it has enjoyed for the last fifty years if it encourages tribal politics.

He was referring to Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe who issued tribal remarks at UPND campaign rally.

And Mpongwe PF Member of Parliament, Gabriel Namulambe says a number of roads and clinics were underway in his constituency.

And speaking at the same rally, late President Levy Mwanawasa’s eldest daughter Mirriam called on Zambians to vote for the PF party in next week’s presidential election.

Ms Mwanawasa say the Mwanawasa family is behind the ruling party that people should not listen to lies being made.

She also thanked government for naming the football stadium in Ndola after her father.

  1. How many holidays are in the Zambian calendar? Every other day is a holiday or national period of mourning. Not very productive. Work culture is poor!

  2. Scotty, yes you and I both know that we need everyone to vote for our mutually preferred candidate (wink, wink).

I understand you have to say these things because you are in a rather precarious position – we know. You only have to say it a few more times now….. and then comes next Tuesday, that great day when at last you can freely support you-know-who in the secret ballot booth.

Only 4 days now Scotty….at least you have Charlotte to speak truthfully with till Tuesday!

  3. Thanks, worst Acting President of Zambia who brought us to the brink of national disorder and violence. You are still a bitter taste in the mouth.

We are waiting for Guy Scott and his cartel buddies to announce a new party at the end of the elections.

At least they have kept a somewhat disgruntled peace pact. And may Masebo’s …..interminable….disciplinary be dealt with in the first weeks of PF success and be it good riddance to bad rubbish.

Lungu needs to demonstrate that he is correctly the peoples choice and deserving of the confidence put in him.

These stragglers are a threat for the PF future, they will repeat their bad behaviour as they see PF as an easy vehicle for their underworld manoeuvres on behalf of their cartel masters.

  4. Zambia needs redemption. There is just too much hatred in the contributions, especially those that are from PF cadres, MPs and Ministers.
The tribal card will not stick any more. Try something else ba PF if in fact you still have time.
Zambians on the ground are now getting wiser against political P.I.G.S.

  5. Back Scott, did you confirm whether your mp managed the southern rallies?? He is nowhere again!! Please find his where about! May he is with out sister party Mr Robert or Angola!! Our president is fold of sneaking,he may have gone to consult further!! Anyway it’s your duty to search for him!!

  6. @2 and 7 please do not think the ones who decided Tuesday were dull. To just give you a tip…that mid week day reduces violence..unlike Saturday or Sunday..

    • it is counter productive. companies have to pay salaries to people who have gone voting. you have no clue how costly it is to a company to stop production because people have gone voting

  7. All Zambians if you vote for lungu then you are all dull . With all the violence and lies since data was alive . Please we are educated enough .
