Nathan Sinkala out of 2015 AFCON

Share

A knee injury has ruled out Chipolopolo defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala from the ongoing 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Zambia team doctor Joseph Kabungo confirms Sinkala will be out of action for at least four weeks.

The 24 year old Grasshopper midfielder limped off the pitch in the 85th minute as Zambia drew 1-1 with DR Congo in Sunday’s opening Group B match in Ebebiyin.

“He will need minimum of three to four weeks away from football, so sadly that essentially rules him out of the rest of this tournament,” Dr Kabungo said.

“After further evaluation last night it was discovered that he suffered a ligament tear in the knee,” he said.

Meanwhile, either Zesco United midfielder Kondwani Mtonga or Nkana utility defender Donashano Malama are likely to replace Sinkala as coach Honour Janza selects his best eleven for the next match against Tunisia slated for Thursday.

    • Me I expected that injury. The other guy I see out is Sunzu, he is playing tabikileko amano, kuti waichena.
Fit players play like Mweene, Chisamba and Singuluma, you die a little!!!! But Mweene is simply the best, aleiposa kwati ni final, what a great Zambian.

    • Why blame PF for your own failures? Next you shall blame PF for your premature ejaculation problem! Get a life!

  1. To me it’s a blessing in disguise ,,, he was the weakest link ,,very poor passes , he has failed to play since the departure of Isaac Chansa ,,,,we failed play the game because of his very poor passes and lack of confidence with the ball ,,,,

    • Spot on. Nathan has not been effective ever since he left France to Switzerland. Bad passes, too slow, inaccurate passes etc. I saw that in the qualifiers. Blessing in disguise. However, Zambia seems not to have any good players at the moment. No authority in midfield.

  2. Kennedy Mweene
    Davies Nkausu
    Emmanuel Mbola
    Christopher Munthali
    Stopila Sunzu
    Donashano Malama
    Lubambo Musonda………Ronald Sate Sate
    Chisamba Lungu
    Emannuel Mayuka……….Evans Kangwa
    Given Singuluma
    Rainford Kalaba

  3. It was mwapusukeni thank to lack of coolness from the Congolese striker Mbokani! if the lads continue on this trend it will disaster with Tunisia!

  4. I think pundits are ignoring one man at these finals. Herve Renard has recent experience of winning this cup. He now has a team full of stars. He will take this cup. He is praying that the final will be between Ivory Coast and Zambia. It will happen

  5. Get well soon Nathan. If the performance by the lads in yesterdays game was pedestrian paralysis of analysis by the bench is worrying. What is in the syllabus for coaching kanshi!

  6. I don’t kmw wat z happening with our boyz. The football they are playing z nt so convincing,me bdouting.Get well soon Nathan!!

  7. ….to be honest, apart from Mweene, I don’t see any other player giving me a worry/nightmare if they are left out of the team……..so far I don’t see any player-maker or a ‘star’… lack of a better word

  8. Now Sinkala is out i would rather use Sinkala with one leg and off form than some plays Janza took, yes Sinkala hasn’t been the Sinkala we know but we must understand one thing he is the only one doing whole the dirty work in midfield while Singulume is not even a midfielder you need players like Chansa next to Sinkala then you have a solid midfield to compete at this level.from the games i have watched so far this tournament is on another level you need your best players it not a place to start building your national team, ask Bafana Bafana they will tell you.

  9. Janza, your team is going nowhere, and the all blame will come to you also remember all this stuff can just cost your ka job you are surviving on at the moment. Your successor will learn from what will happen to you.
