The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has said that it is elated that one of its renowned members Edgar Lungu has been elected republican president.
“The council of the Law Association of Zambia on behalf of the whole fraternity of practising lawyers in the country wish to register our hearty congratulations to President Lungu on his deserved election to the office of President of Zambia,” LAZ president George Chisanga said in a statement yesterday.
Mr Chisanga said the hope for LAZ is that as President Lungu sets out on the important national assignment, he will serve with honour, distinction and discharge the functions of his office with distinction.
He said LAZ, like many other stakeholders in the country, has observed that the just-ended election has left the country seriously divided on tribal and regional lines.
He said the voting pattern that the country experienced has given rise to a feeling of discontentment around the country.
Mr Chisanga said the resulting scenario has the potential of making the country permanently polarised in so far as governance is concerned.
Its a honor but help the President to stay on course and drive all the necessary reforms our nascent democracy needs. His failure is yours and that of the nation, while his success will be for the national Good. Avoid at all cost to turn into cheerleaders but serve as effective watchdogs of moral and professional necessity.

If lungu is to win my trust, he should let the courts deal with RB ‘s case with out interference now that he is got the Eastern vote on board.Even if he continues to let the court prosecute RB in 2016, RB will not influence any thing inn Eastern province because people in the East have now changed to vote PF.
Easterners are really funny people politically. I think the tribalism tag befits them better than any other tribe in Zambia. In 1991, they voted UNIP because KK was considered their own after the Northerners disowned him while all the tribes voted for change.
They continued to vote for UNIP until one of their own RB was promised the vice presidency by MMD thats when Eastern became MMD.
They remained MMD until now when Lungu one of their own was to be elected leader…

In SP, tell me how PF can get 0 votes in Pemba where a road Pemba to Mapanza is being done? 79 in Bweengwa where Monze-Niko road is being done. At the time of voting almost 3km was completed. 103 in Monze town where all the urban roads are being upgraded to bituminous standards. By the way Sinda in EP where UPND won is a new district without any urban roads being upgraded. Tell us who is tribal!!!

1] Debarred candidate who’s licence is mysteriously re-instated by LAZ( NB: we haven’t even been told whether the issue was resolved nor that the woman was re-imbursed her dues)
2] LAZ happily ignores the fact that his party elected him in questionable circumstances – intimidating other candidates; show of hands – something not recognised by PF constitution
3] A CJ who is the Returning officer – Who has “acted” beyond her remit as per our CONSTITUTUION – therefore illegally!

It seems LAZ has a very short memory. Today Lungu is renowned only a fews months ago they were forced to reinstate his practicing licence which he had lost due to his unprofessional conduct. The fact is that Northern provinces are poor and in their bid to continue drawing resources from the NW region they will go to any length to lay their hands on the treasury. For without that, this impoverished region is as good as dead.

The voting pattern of the Northern provinces have been the same since the days of Nkumbula, Mulemba, Mundia, Sipalo etc.
The other regions are just now waking up to say, NO to Northern hegemony. And it doesnt matter what you say or do, the peoples of NW regions are now determined to vote along regional lines like the Northern provinces have done since 1963.
