PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday held more than four-hour long official talks with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on the importance of regional integration in ensuring development in the region, among others.

Speaking to Journalists after the meeting at the Zimbabwe state house yesterday, Mr Lungu said Mr Mugabe was the most senior head of state in the region and he had to make it a priority to make his first state visit to him and tap into his wisdom.

It was important for Mr Lungu to pay a traditional courtesy call on Mr Mugabe who was both Southern Africa Development Commission and AU chairperson.

Mr Lungu arrived at the Zimbabwe state house in Harare around 12:20 hours and only left around 16:20 hours.

He said as a ‘new comer’ it was important for him to listen to the elders to learn from them and get wisdom.

There was a lot the two leaders discussed in a bid to move their countries to another level.

Later on departure at the airport, Mr Lungu said the two heads of state also discussed the importance of peace and stability to promote investment.

He said President Mugabe was the AU chairman and he needed to be consulted even as Mr Lungu prepared to develop Zambia.

“As you know we are in a hurry to develop the country and we need to acquire as much knowledge as possible in trying to achieve this,” he said.

Regional integration was key if Zambia was to develop.

Asked on the progress he was making in his on-going Mfuwe working visit, Mr Lungu said he had made great strides in appointing his Cabinet and Zambians should expect a lot from that visit.

The President was also formulating programmes that would be implemented in the next one year and assist develop the country.

He said issues of good governance were also being looked at in Mfuwe to ensure that Government operated according to the dictates of good governance.

The President left Harare International airport for Mfuwe at 17:00 hours aboard the Presidential challenger.

Mr Lungu was seen off by Zimbabwean Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwean foreign affairs minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba, embassy officials and other top Government officials.

As the President was leaving, thousands of Zimbabweans lined up the streets and traffic came to a standstill as the people tried to catch a glimpse of the new Zambian President.

And speaking later in an interview, Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba said since the President was just recently elected, it was good for him to visit the AU chairperson so that he could be briefed on issues around the continent.

He described the meeting as having gone on well and that Zambians should soon expect positive fruits from the discussions. The fruits of the meeting would soon be a reality.

    • “Mr Lungu said Mr Mugabe was the most senior head of state in the region and he had to make it a priority to make his first state visit to him and tap into his wisdom.”

The last four words in Lungu ‘s statement confirms my fears that uncle BOB is indeed the real president of Zambia. Lungu will from now on never do any thing without Mugabe’s authorisation.

Lungu is Mugabe’s proxy via RB, and poor Zambians supporting Lungu think he has a vision to develop Zambia. Yes indeed Lungu has that vision to develop Zambia into Zimbabwe look alike.

Very soon Zambia will abandone the Kwacha to use US dollar like Zimbabwe because it will be so worthless in very short time, before 2016.

Lungu ‘s statement above begs the question; What wisdom does Lungu want to tap from Mugabe an evil…

    • Bob Mugabe makes me proud me as Zambian with Zimbabwean roots, that a Zimbabwean can rule two countries at the same time.

Viva the Great Zimbabwe! Next to be brought in is Malawi.

However on governance matters, its really a sad day for my country Zambia, the country was born in and love to cherish.

    • Mr Lungu said “Mr Mugabe was the most senior head of state in the region”

Senior by force not by choice, Therefore Bob ain’t senior for anything.

    • Ba lusakatimes, thank you for telling us the truth in disguise ati, president lungu holds talks with “zambianbean” president Robert Mugabe. So you see yourselves that we have sold zambia to mugabe tefyo. these are your words and i believe it is not a typo or what ever excuse you will use later. When i wrote on your website that you were supporting lungu, i was scorned!!! My comments were and still sometimes sensored and not posted. All because you feel i am radical when it comes to PF, but this is what you wanted!!! PF again in state house. So you have done this. I respect mugabe whole heartedly as a pan africanist but not at the expense of our nations sovereignty. Congratulations LT for giving zambia to mugabe. But am happy that you send subliminal messages telling people the truth!!

    • @Wanzelu; and you get your information from the US that has in past called Nelson Mandela a terrorist? Look wake up and make independent decisions, not decisions that BBC makes for you!

    • Tulemiteka from Zim, like it or not. Bob has extended his empire to Zambia and Lungu is his representative commissioner.

Uncle Bob’ s wishes are surely coming to fruition. I seriously doubted his capacity when he said his ambition is to extend his empire beyond the boarders of Zimbabwe.

RB was intimidated by Bob to support Lungu or else he will ?????????

Only Bob, Kalaba , RB and lungu know the exact details.

    • @Ndo

Please tone down your excitement. Zambians will one day correct this mistake. Its never too late,2016 is just around the corner.

    • @Lord Voldemort (The Dark Lord)

Please try to use you brains correctly by making comparison that are relevant.

Mandela was fighting against apartheid for the sake of his fellow blacks, while Mugabe is continuously, fighting and killing his fellow black folks for his continued stay in power and looting of poor Zimbabweans’ money.

Mandela, gave up power willingly due to old age, while Mugabe is still clinging on despite being old and frail such that, he just tumbles like a toddler nowadays.Mugabe wants to rule until he wears diapers and is in a wheel chair.

Mandela was a freedom fighter, but Mugabe changed from a being freedom fighter to an anti-freedom fighter ,an oppressor and killer of his own people.

For your record I do not get this info from BBC or US, I live with Zim…

    • WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, MAY I SPEAK FREELY? I THINK THE LIKES OF “WANZELU” ARE VERY UNCIVILIZED CITIZENS. CURRENT NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT HAS A BIG NEGATIVE-BOKO HARAM, BUT IF YOU LISTENED HOW NIGERIAN CITIZENS DEBATED ON THEIR INCOMING ELECTIONS ON BBC LAST NIGHT, AND HOW THEY SPOKE ABOUT THEIR COUNTRY, THEIR LEADERS- DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD DIFFERING ASPIRATIONS AND LIKES OF CANDIDATES, THEY SHOWED MUCH RESPECT FOR THE SITTING PRESIDENT, THEY ALL SHOWED SOLIDARITY AND SPOKE POSITIVELY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THEIR COUNTRY REGARDLESS WHO GOES IN POWER. THEY REALIZE THAT ANY PRESIDENT TO WORK FOR THE GOOD OF THE NATION NEEDS SUPPORT AND THE RESPECT OF EACH CITIZEN NO MATTER HIS/HER POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A CHANGE IN THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COUNTRY. NO ONE RULES FOREVER

    • @ Wanzelu

ADDITIONALLY MUGABE IS NOW THE AU & THE SADC CHAIRMAN. NOMINATED CHAIRMAN EH! & ZIMMBABWEANS LOVES HIM. THE SYSTEM WORKS VERY DIFFERENT FROM YOUR HEAD BOYI. YOU MAY NEED MORE UNDERSTANDING IN GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS.

    • IT’S ONLY A F00L WHO DOESN’T CONSULT SENIOR PEOPLE. WHAT LUNGU HAS DONE IN FACT IS PART OF BEING WISE- CONSULTING. MUGABE IS NOT ONLY SENIOR BUT BRAINY. FORGET ABOUT HIS LONG STAY IN POWER. IT HAD A PURPOSE. ABENA MORGAN WOULD HAVE SOLD THE COUNTRY. NZELU NICHIMOZIMOZI NA HH.

    • @Brian Monde

Just celebrate the fact that Mugabe is the Zambiabean president period.

I don’t think Goodluck Jonathan can copy or envy anything from Mugabe. But Lungu is now Mugabe’stooge and he is dying to be thinking like Mugabe.

If anything most African leaders want to copy the Chinese model of Autocracy thats why they like Mugabe to be their spokes person.

Ever heard of the saying, control the money you control the people?

Mugabe turned Zimbabwe into full colony of the US de facto . Obama now controls Zimbabwe directly. Mugabe tried to control the Zim dollar to consolidate his power, he failed and the Zim dollar is now history.

Any time America wants, can pull a plug on Zim and make them destitute within a second.

Why should I be proud of a useless leader.

    • Lungu went to meet bob in his capacity as sadc and au chair bafikala imwe not as president of Zimbabwe. Lungu is a smart fellow and he knows where to touch to make things work for him.

    • This Wanzelu (Larry Mweetwa) is a desperate guy. Why changing your names to Ndo and pretending to be a Zimbabwean ? Grow up.

    • You got to careful about who really love Mugabe.

Mugabe is loved by Zims in the diaspora because his barbaric act at home earned many Zims the right to stay in the developed world as refugees.

But those who could not manage to come this far and those who are still at home and have no stake in ZANU-PF, hate the ka man with passion.

So you got to be specific about a small number of those who really love Mugabe. Even within ZANU-PF Mugabe’s hatred is growing at a pace un seen before.

The day the man will die, there will be partying where ever most Zims are.

Any way, his death is eminent by the end of this year. That fall was a clear sign, that the man will be lucky to reach August this year.

    • The you what development in Zambia . A country with a curreny what will Zambia Gain ? Sex workers from Zimbabwe ? Uncle BOB can’t even travel to Europe . Kwacha is so weak , why can’t he even travel to China or Europe to promote Zambia . Guess we like be called a dark countinent and poorest countries .

    • Only f00ls would consult people like Mugabe whose thinking is typically like late Idi Amini for advice on how to run a country.

Genuine leaders, go to consult senior leaders with a brilliant reputation in leadership not a scum bugs like Mugabe who even his own people including his wife can’t wait for the ka man to die so she can enjoy life freely again with a real man who ‘s gut it.

Something is not right about Lungu ‘s presidency, thats why, a lot of invited foreign leaders never turned up apart from his mentor Mugabe.

Mark my words you PF minions, what ever is wrong with Lungu ‘s presidency, will emerge with in the next three months. It will actually start brewing within the PF ranks. As the elections will draw near, most PF MPs will defect

    • He said as a ‘new comer’ it was important for him to listen to the elders to learn from them and get wisdom.

In the bible ,James3:13-17 describes two types of wisdom,Heavenly wisdom and Demonic wisdom.

What can you get from Mugabe who has butchered hundreds of thousands of innocent citizens. He has impoverished his nation in the name of nationalization.
“That kind of wisdom does not come from above. No, it is worldly, self-centered, and demonic.”

    • We entirely support this working holiday your Excellency. Clean up the mess both in Government hospitals, Government Agents and institutions that will make your Government deliver serious development now and beyond 2016 to the expectations of your people. Zambia is not just Lusaka and am sure you are more than informed that a lot of people did not support your effort when it mattered most and these should not pretend to be good to you toady simply because you are now in State House.

There are many young men and women who were with you through hard times whilst most big bwanas in higher offices had their legs in two camps and supporting your enemies.

This is time to reflect and put your devoted and loyal team to work.

      God bless you your Excellency.

    • @ WANZELU

OH SO YOU VOTED FOR MUGABE? WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST SAY SO, INSTEAD OF PRETENDING TO BE UPND SUPPORTER? IN AFRICA ONLY MUGABE REALLY RULES, THE REST ARE REPRESENTATIVES OF REMOTE CONTROLLED COUNTRIES…

    • Disgusting to see some of the comments of you bloggers. What the hell are you happy about with a dictator? Bob will never control Zambia because we are not the same people, either do we think the same.

It is nonsense and hypocrisy of African Leaders who even gave him the AU chairmanship. just says it all why we as a content will never move forward.

Mugabe is not God and his day is very close.

  1. Mugabe is an elderly statesman of the region. You characters condemning him did the same thing to KK. Your neo-colonial mind-set and supporters have no room in Africa.

You best thoughts that Africa should continue to be a puppet of the west much change and will lead you nowhere. Africa must look to the East as the west is either broke or there theories have no good bearing.

Zambia should adopt the two system approach but in reverse from china. What I mean is Governance system should be democratic but economic system should be state capitalism (like china model)

    • Mugabe should be condemned for being a dictator and bringing the once thriving Zimbabwe to its knees. He has held onto power while ignoring what the Zimbabwean people wanted. He has persecuted the opposition. This is what is saddening that the Zambian president is looking up to him. Before elections he sneaked out of the country to see Mugabe.
      Peace loving Zambians should worry!

    • Mr Lungu said “Mr Mugabe was the most senior head of state in the region”

Senior by force not by choice, Therefore Bob ain’t senior for anything.

    • We need to put food on the table not this Mugabe approach of the freedom fighters. This is gone because it is now economical freedom. Please EL, Mugabe is using the USA Dollar but busy shouting that he is an independent leader……..sad. Do not use the US Dollar if you think you can do without the West. This Mugabe is a bad example to follow in the 20th Century. Us Zimbabwean have run away from our country and we are busy here as economic refugees. Zambians, this is free advice…..Leave this man alone and let him continue falling down on his own slowly but surely. Please Edgar, find better friends than this failure who has nothing to offer……He is just going to subtract from your already made gains if they are really there!!!

    • I guess Mugabe resisted any temptations to climb or descent from any steps this time around! Dont imitate our dearest KK, who is still strong to even run!

  2. Uncle is one of the greatest leaders of africa and patriotic leader of his land. 1. In zimbabwe all foreign investors must partner with locale. Pa zd all shops at malls and other businesses 100% owned by foreigners. Zambia is chisokone market of south africatheir profits externalized. 2. It is easier for foreign investor to get land with titles processsed than for zambian to a bag of mealie meal. 3. The west put sanctions on zimbabwe he opened economy to transact in any major currency. Zambia biggest produce of copper yet prices higher than zimbabwe. 1. More tourists stay on zim side and walk across to vic falls and back. 4. Mugabe the only leader who confront west capital empirialism to protect his zimb. 5. Mugabe has a beautiful young wife.
Viva lungu. Mugabe is the wise man to…

  3. Mr Lungu said “Mr Mugabe was the most senior head of state in the region”

Senior by force not by choice, Therefore Bob ain’t senior for anything.

    • IT DOESN’T MATTER, BY FORCE OR OTHERWISE. HE IS THE SENIOR- WHY DO YOU THINK HE WAS NOMINATED CHAIRMAN OF BOTH SADC AND AU? THIS IS 2015 MAN, NOT THE STONE AGE

    • UPND disrespectful lot. This is one reason your HH has failed to make it. He has no courtesy nor regard for elders and senior people. He is too pompous and thinks he own people and everything just because he has a little money. Maybe it is in his upbringing. EL is making it because he has learnt to listen to people. Like it or not Mugabe has experience, and abundant knowledge in world and African politics. Even if he is a dictator, he has something we can learn from. The wise take heed the foolish ignore and perish due to lack of wisdom.

If HH had won the elections, he too would have had no choice but visit Mugabe. Mugabe is SADC Chairpeson and to which Zambia is a member.

Your shallow conceptualisation of political matters is shocking to say the least.

    • Jeko and other UPND people, SADC made Mugabe its Chairperson. This means all countries in the region are crazy and only UPND is sane. Recently Mugabe has been made AU Chairperson. This means that the whole Africa is crazy and only UPND is sane. Then we should do away with AU and SADC because of Mugabe. This is not possible.

HH would have done the same that EL has done. Zambia has not declared any conflict with Zimbabwe or Mugabe. UPND is trying to bring tribalism at continental level. What a shame.

You are saying all this due to the pain of losing an election. HH and his UPND has no respect for elders and this will not win you elections. It is not EL who does not think right. It you and your HH. Africa is watching HH and will not allow help in elections. How have you been cultured?

  4. Still watching and loving…my presido…please cant wait for your return from mfuwe…to shut up the vuvuzela minds….one lungu for all Zambian….

    • As for for now…no matter how difficulty it seems to digest please swallow…because you just need to leave with it…One Lungu Presido for ALL ZAMBIAN….UZADWALAPO CHABE…

  5. The title is funny. Zambiabean president. I never thought LT would write like this. This already is disrespect to our President. He has the right to visit any of the presidents in Africa. One always needs help from others and Mugabe helped EL. They must be friends since a friend in need is a friend indeed or vice versa. Our neighbours are our friends and we need this rapport no matter what. EL is mature enough. Mugabe has never been enemies of any of the African Presidents. Please let us keep respecting and supporting our president.

    • You are right my man even the bible says so “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labour. If one falls, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls no one will lift him up.”
It continues “If two sleeps together they will keep warm but how can one be warm alone?” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Hence forth don’t blame President EL he is following the bibilical ways.

    • # Yondo Sister – are you telling me that all the African Leaders chose Mugabe to be AU and Sadcc Chair person for nothing. Unless off course you say they all have no wisdom

    • @Habazonda……. The argument here is against Uncle Bob and what he has done to that beautiful country. I don’t know about the AU but for SADC I think the leadership is rotational on a country basis. Otherwise I stand to be corrected.

  6. the problem with black people is that you all lack self esteem, if he had started with Europe or America then you would be swinging your short tails like dogs. whats wrong with him start with our closest neighbour in fact we used to be one country before those mother f…kers separated us.

  7. Uncle Bob looks very fit. My word! He is surely a source of inspiration to all of us (Africans)…. We can surely all clock 90 years too!! That should be our benchmark, life expectancy….

    Long live uncle Bob!

  8. Hmmmm. ‘Tapping into Mugabe’s wisdom?’ I don’t see any wisdom in someone who’s ruled a country for more than three decades!!

The man is now even trying to impose his wife on the people of Zimbabwe and you call that wisdom?

A man whose policies have destroyed a country that was once hailed as the ‘bread basket of Africa’ and you call that wisdom?

tell me you went to see him in his capacity as SADC and AU gaffer, not for his wisdom.

The day Africa stops celebrating tyrants and despots is the day the continent will become of age. Right now Joseph kabila wants to go for a third term. Do you think Bob can tell this young man that what he’s doing is wrong? A man who has held on to power for more than 30 years?!

Africa, the richest continent but now a song of the…

  9. A picture is worth a thousand words. That Bob boy looks down on ka Lungu. Look at how he shakes hands sideways with one hand in his pocket. As if to say, I’ve been dictator for 34 years and you been dictator for only two days. And ka Lungu very naturally looks like a submissive puppy. A puppy with long legs.. ?

  10. What wisdom can a sensible leader learn from Mugabe? Over the years Mugabe has forced thousands of Zimbabweans to flee the country and live as refugees in SA, Botswana, here in the UK & many other countries around the world. Is that what Mr Lungu is going to do in Zambia. On the other hand next door Botswana has thousands of happy Zambians resident and making a living there.
Zambians must open their eyes, Mugabe is in charge of Zambiabean and Lungu is just his roving ambassador.

  11. Mugabe is an African genius in dealing with the effects of Colonialism/imperialism.

Since we have opened up for ‘investors’ to resettle in Zambia, we have had a resurfacing of race relations problems. It is correct we seek Mugabe’s wisdom in dealing with our new problems. We are now multi..racial, and a Tribal relations are getting complex by the day.

Whichever way you see things, it is correct for His Excellency to seek and keep good relations with Zimbabwe. We should not let the West drive a wedge between our countries. Divide and rule simply will not do.

  12. I am personally happy about this visit.

There is a lot that Zambia can learn from Robert Mugabe. The only thing that he seems to have done wrong is to stand firm and successfully loosen the neo-colonial grip for the best interest of Zimbabwe.

As is the rule with all great men, his “stubbornness” will be appreciated when he is long gone. It is only when another puppet of the west comes to power that people will realise what a brave and courage leader Mugabe was. Mark my words.

    • @Nine Chale

Are you sure Mugabe is not a puppet of the West by begging America to use US dollar as a national currency. Zim under Mugabe is 120% surviving under the mercy of the US. If thats not neo colonialism then what do you call it?

If America wanted to have its citizens to invest in Zimbabwe under their own terms, Mugabe would stay totally mute like a soaked chicken.

In case you don’t know, the best control you can have over a people is to control the money. Ever heard Mugabe talking ill of America of late? No, why?

Mugabe knows who is dady. He can insult UK all he likes, but not the US the owners of Zim central bank.

For Zim to use US as a national currency, no one knows how much Zim is paying the US for the service.

Read widely and learn to decipher the code!…

    • There’s nothing honorable and courageous about Mugabe. He’s just one brute dictator who thinks he’s God’s gift to the people of Zimbabwe for liberating them and that role has taken it too far for too long. You’re busy passing compliments on how Mugabe stood against the west and yet the irony is that when it comes to study or work, your first choice will always be the west before you settle for second scraps like china. What a joke.

  13. This is a new type of colonialism. One African colonizing another. Lungu is proxy Mugabe. This monster has no right to speak against the west. Shame on u Lungu for stealing votes and parading yourself before Mugabe and thinking u r clever. Sh!t ! We r going down like Zimbabwe.

    • @ 17 Jamakudi

Lungu must have a virus in his brain. What a crass we have for president. It is disgusting to see how dull he is.

  14. Zambia be very very afraid, EL just got the cocktail or formulae on how to live forever and cling to power for three long decades! Lol

  15. A neighbour is just that. Whether poor, rich, mad or whatever. We need to live in harmony with our neighbours no matter their status. However I just feel like I am wasting my time saying all of this because I have come to realise that people here either are still young at heart or they are just focused in one direction. I hope this is not the case.

    • @ 19 Mpooma The Real proud Tonga Bull

Is Zimbabwe Zambi’s only neighbor? What about Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Congo DRC, Tanzania, S. Africa? Why is Zimbabwe on top of that list? Are you that blind that you can’t see what is happening?

  16. Regional integration indeed, but no naivety- national interest first. Zambia lost more than 11 billion USD helping to liberate brothers and sisters in the region. The economy was ruined and we ended up being humiliated while looking for Coke in neighbouring countries. Sounds reactionary, but the truth does not break friendship.

    • @ 20 Bare Foot

And for all of that, what did we get back? Robert Mugabe was foremost in throwing sand in our eyes after he led his country to independence. As far as he was concerned, Zambia was synonymous with Joshua Nkomo. How disgusting that a Zambian president is now going on his knees to worship that heartless and ruthless hegemony who has reduced his own country to rubble. What “regional co-operation” is this crass of a president looking for from Mugabe?

  17. EL was with bob on inauguration, he was with him in Ethiopia what is that they didn’t talk about in all these places?
Something fishy going on here and Zambians will have themselves to blame for so called voting for this man.

    • I completely agree. He is probably trying to formulate a way to rig the next elections like he did in the recent ones.

    • I am totally with you Chintomfwa on this one, just like my last posting that this trip is about tactics on how to silence or deal with the opposition particularly UPND.

  18. Remember that Robert has also been a longtime dictator. This was the late Sata’s type of leadership style, no one can or should challenge him. Robert is teaching regional leaders bad manners. It will not work in Zambia. The truth is the state of the Zambian economy cannot be managed by someone like Lungu. What Zambia needs is an economic plan coupled with a vision and not a dictatorship or a visionless leader

  19. We don’t have to be blind not to see. But are we really that blind? Don’t we see the connection? Lungu flew to Zimbabwe to meet Robert Mugabe when the feud in PF was at its height. He struck a deal with him. Now it’s pay back time – Lungu must now dance to Robert Mugabe’s tune. That’s how it goes. What we have is a stooge for president – it is an annexation of Zambia by Zimbabwe. Robert Mugabe is Zambia’s president de facto.

  20. So Mugabe is now a regional hero? How disgusting that a Zambian president has gone on his knees to worship that heartless and ruthless dictator who has reduced his own country to rubble. What “regional co-operation” is this crass looking for from Robert Mugabe?

  21. When Zambia’s economy collapsed in the 1980s, it was Robert Mugabe and his Zimbabwe who laughed the loudest. Zambia was then not known as Zambia in Zimbabwe. Both the Harare Herald and the Bulawayo Chronicle would disdainfully refer to Zambia as merely “Zimbabwe’s northern neighbor.” Edgar Lungu must be very, very dull and dumb indeed.

There are countries in the region that are more worthy and more deserving of Zambia’s attention – S. Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Angola, Congo DRC etc. Yes, Zimbabwe can still make the list, but certainly not to top it. Mr. Lungu are you that dull? I can hardly believe my ears and my eyes to see you in such a tight embrace with the scoundrel, Robert Mugabe.

  22. It makes some of us very bitter for a president to show ignorance to other countries as though we have a shortage of wise people in Zambia. The embarrassment Lungu brings with his leadership is the same as that of Sats’s.

  23. There are millions of Zimbabweans all over Zambia who are competing side by side with Zambians for jobs and every other opportunity our meager economy can afford to extend. These could have been at Mayukwayukwa Refugee Camp, but tare not, thanks to Zambia’s humane spirit. S. Africa has about three million Zimbabweans encroaching that country. The U.K. has probably the largest number of Zimbabweans. They number in millions – and many others scattered elsewhere in the world – all scattered not out of their own volition, but because one, demi god, Robert Gabriel Mugabe has so willed. And to all of this, our beloved, humble looking, dancing president Lungu, is inconsequential! After an all night dance party with Mugabe, he is singing “regional integration.” Is he nuts, I wonder?

  24. Lungu is following the same vision as HH.
Didn’t you hear that Lungu said he will follow Sata’s Vision?
That is the same Vision HH is also following.
All Politians in Zambia are following the same vision, “Develop the economy, reduce poverty and promote good governance”
HH and EL are all telling us that they are following Sata’s vision – stated above.
NOW, I know that many of you are confused regarding Vision. You need to be educated that Vision is not the same as strategy. Simplest example is this,
“let us go to Monze – we will use a car”.
In the above statement, Vision is ‘getting to Monze’, ‘using a car’ is strategy.
Vision = what you want to do; Strategy = how you will get it done.

  25. Many of you are getting shocked that after Lungu said he will follow Sata’s Vision, he is doing things differently; you need to know that though the vision is the same, the two have totally different strategies.
You also need to understand that the success rate in achieving one’s vision does not necessarily depend on how nice and well-polished the vision is, but mostly on its implementation which is a function of the strategy used. watch out for Lungu as he implements Sata’s vision using his (Lungu’s) strategy.
The Opposition should not be annoyed when Lungu implements great programs for the nation; yes he will reduce on their campaign items but they need to be happy because that is what they also want to achieve – i.e. develop this country.

  26. The Opposition should not be annoyed when Lungu implements great programs for the nation; yes he will reduce on their campaign items but they need to be happy because that is what they also want to achieve – i.e. develop this country.
Have I mistaken the agenda of the opposition or am correct?
If am correct, each time Lungu scores the opposition should clap and hold parties (celebrations) and rejoice that their dream is coming true

  27. Must we forget the millions whom Robert Mugabe, using his North Korean trained Gukuraudis, slaughtered mercilessly in Matebeleland? If gallant freedom fighter Winnnie Mandela should be so dishonored for whatever unknown crime she may have been associated with, how much more contemptible is this man, Robert Gabriel Mugabe?

Has Mr. Lungu got any morals at all? Or must we now pressure him to disclose whatever he, himself has alluded to as knowing, regarding Ruth Mbandu’s death? This man, Mr. Lungu, is turning out to be an eye sore and a real disgrace to Zambia. What friendship has light with darkness????

  28. Lungu does well for the nation, the opposition should clap and hold parties (celebrations) and rejoice that their dream is coming true.
They should be happy that he is doing when they have always longed to see.
They should rejoice that he has done it on their behalf, and removed the burden of themselves doing the task.
They should, thus, appreciate him in any way they can; and thank him on behalf of the many Zambians who will get the benefit, but who may not have sufficient platform to thank him personally.

  29. One wonders how tall Edgar Lungu really is? Dr. Watts once said: “the mind is the stature of man.” In that sense, late president Frederick Chiluba was of a taller stature than this diminutive Lungu. How can he, of all places, go to Zimbabwe for a dance with Mugabe?

Haven’t we seen recently, in Zimbabwe, the slaughter of one of that country’s finest retired army generals, whom they roasted alive in his house and the investigation of whose assassination has gone begging? Or has Mr. Lungu been oblivious to the recent assault on the widow of the same deceased army general by Grace Mugabe, the first lady? Is Mr. Lungu trying to copy that legacy, the ugliest of all legacies, of how the eminent Emmerson Munamagwa is now the vice-president instead of soft-spoken madam Mujulu?

  30. The mentor of Zambian president BOB Mugabe considered wise, can not even visit any western countries including UK or USA in his personal name of Robert Mugabe.
Glorifying a dictator who has made his national seek refuge in all SADC countries, Europe and America. This standard of governance to be imported to Zambia is a disaster in waiting.
Lungu has more pressing Zambian issues and wants to begin touring the world without working for his election as head of Zambia is a clear indicator that vision for the country is far fetched by the head of Zambia.

  31. Following Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980, certain luminaries were recognized for their unique contribution to Zimbabwe’s independence struggle. Foremost among those were Samora Machel of Mozambique and Julius Nyerere of Tanzania. Our Kenneth Kaunda could only be named after a back-door street by the side of a railway station. Was not that a rebuff and an insult enough?

Should we forget Zambia’s nine bridges that Ian Smith bombed in a single day? Must we forget the closure of Southern border and the heroic airlifting of oil Zambia had to undertake? Must we forget all those bombings within Zambia? What a price Zambia had paid. But it was the same Robert Mugabe who decided to give Zambia a cold shoulder whom we are now exalting above the clouds. Mr. Lungu are you that dull?

  32. @33 Mei Matungu,

Our reasoning can be very confusing sometimes even to our own selves.
One wonders how the family can have no problem with their relative working for a beer company – getting money from him for clothes, school fees for their kids, support for upkeep including buying their food, etc. but they go on to say that we cannot visit that guy and eat his food because he works for a beer company, and us we are Christians who do tolerate beer.
You say that President Lungu should not visit Robert Mugabe, but he has been elected chairman of AU, agreed by all African Heads of States. Do you think Lungu should not visit him as AU chair? Are you saying Lungu should protest Mugabe’s Position given by the entire AU?
Do you want Zambia to protest AU decision?
    Come on!!!

    • @ 37 Iwe Naine

I would want to believe that Mr. Edgar Lungu is the newest president in Africa, right? For him to interrupt his honeymoon at Mfuwe National Park, where he was vacationing and fly to Zimbabwe for a four hour deliberation with Robert Mugabe, just because Mugabe is now the new AU chairman, is quite significant. Can you tell me if you know any other African presidents who have since done so, following Mugabe’s appointment to that rotating chair?

  33. Even as late as yesterday, we can rightfully recall that if there was any country that gave Zambia and Botswana hell over the site of the construction of the Botswana-Zambia bridge over the Zambezi river at Kazungula was Zimbabwe. But Zambia has probably four bridges with Zimbabwe already – at Vic Falls, Kariba, Chirundu and possibly further down. Why should Zimbabwe have been so fussy over the site of the Botswana-Zambia bridge at Kazungula? As you will recall, Namibia had to make concession for the bridge to be moved further up-stream, a move that will nearly double the cost of its construction. Wasn’t that not Mugabe and his Zimbabwe we were dealing with then? Or is Mr. Lungu that much of a drunkard that he has no recollection of all these things????

  34. And how sweet was that Zimbabwean bread which we would not be allowed to bring across from Vic Falls town to Livingstone through the Vic Falls border, at the time when Zambia had no bread? what a good neighbor Zimbabwe has been to Zambia over the year!

  35. It says a lot about the pf regime when the first head of state Lungu visits is Mugabe–a country with an economy in tatters and a dictator in charge. Next stop is Angola–a country that also has been in the grasps of a dictator for decades; the company you keep says much about you.

  36. He went to negotiate on how is going to pay back the money they borrowed during campaign. What wisdom can someone get from Mugabe honestly?

    • Mwansanga, Why did the SADC and AU make their Chairperson. Have asked what wisdom they thought they could get from him? So it is not El’s problem that Mugabe is SADC and AU leader. He paid that visit in that capacity Mugabe occupies in Africa.

It is painful to lose but we should learn to live with a situation we do not like at times. EL is President of Zambia and no amount of insult will change that.

    • @ 41.1 Yebo Nkhosi

The AU and SADC chairmanships are not based on merit. They are rotational i.e., they rotate from one country to another – and whoever is the president of that country becomes the chairperson for that year. It was not to recognize Mr. Mugabe’s unique competencies that he was chosen chair by his peers. He just happened to be the next in line – that’s all.

    • My question is if Mugabe is a legitimate AU and SADC Chairperson, do you have to blame EL for that? We should not let the pain of losing the election make devoid of rationality. No African coutnry has declared Mugabe a despot. That is why he has been allowed to take up these positions. If we as Zambia feel so bad about, the option is to opt out of SADC and AU. But for what, just because HH lost an election. He is not a god, but just a loser.

  37. Now the Zambiabeans are ruling Zambia. We’ve already had one Zambiabean born president. Is this Rupiah Banda influence on Lungu?

  38. Mugabe’s greeting of Lungu with his other hand in the pocket tells the whole story. Let’s not cheapen our country by licking other country’s boots.

Zim is a failed state & Zambians has no benefit associating itself with such countries such as Zim, Somalia, North Korea etc.

  39. @41.2 Mei Matungu,

    You cant be next in line if you do not qualify;
and you earlier wanted to know which other African leaders have visited Mugabe since he was AU leader – for that question find out yourself.
But, to tell you the truth, Lungu is not like your preferred candidate who would have waited until other African Heads of State have visited Mugabe, then he says ‘Me oloso’. Lungu is an initiator, an originator and not a copy-cut, like that one (your candidate) who likes saying ‘me oloso’.

    • @ 45 Iwe Naine

Iwe Naine, I will give you and president Lungu the benefit of a doubt regarding Zimbabwe and Mr. Mugabe.

  40. Robert Mugabe is an African hero. When you stand up for your resources, you get retaliate against, and the forces of neocolonialism will try and move heaven and earth to make anyone believe that it was the standing up that caused it, not their retaliation.

So what ‘beautiful country’ are we talking about? A country where 1% of the population owned 43% of the country, and the 99% were relegated to the 25% and cities was left outside the giant game reserves.

They also demand that Zimbabweans own 51% of the mines.

What if 51% (or more) of Zambian mines were owned by Zambians? The massive copper exports would have actually stayed in the country, instead of padding the Swiss bank accounts of Glencore AG, or the accounts of Anglo-American De Beers.
