FIRST President of Zambia, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda has joined President Edgar Lungu at the Chichele Presidential Lodge in Mfuwe.

FORMER president Kenneth Kaunda has travelled to Mfuwe for a holiday at the invitation of President Edgar Lungu who is having a retreat there.

Dr Kaunda told journalists at City Airport before his departure around
09:20 hours today that he was grateful to President Lungu for inviting him to rest in Mfuwe.

“When I was in hospital last week and he heard, he came to visit me and called on me several times, even as he had been busy,” he said.

Dr Kaunda said he was feeling better and was grateful to God that despite his old age, he was okay.

He also said President Lungu was a hardworking man who had given him the impression that he wanted to do the best for the country and would not go to Mfuwe to merely waste time.

Dr Kaunda said Mfuwe was an important place where he himself used to rest, think and make decisions.

“I am not surprised that he chose to go there because he has gone through tough times recently and he needs to go somewhere to think and rest,” Dr Kaunda said.

He said, however, that he was going to rest after spending time in
the hospital.

Dr Kaunda was accompanied by his daughter Cheswa.

  1. Wisdom 101. Consensus leadership being built in consultation of the wise and free minded fellow patriots. When the wise rule, people rejoice. Bless your heart sir.

    • We entirely support this working holiday your Excellency. Clean up the mess both in Government hospitals, Government Agents and institutions that will make your Government deliver serious development now and beyond 2016 to the expectations of your people. Zambia is not just Lusaka and am sure you are more than informed that a lot of people did not support your effort when it mattered most and these should not pretend to be good to you toady simply because you are now in State House.

There are many young men and women who were with you through hard times whilst most big bwanas in higher offices had their legs in two camps and supporting your enemies.

This is time to reflect and put your devoted and loyal team to work.

      God bless you your Excellency.

    • Hmmmmmm so its true !!! Lungu asobela what can come of a genaric man of KK’s age ?

Lungu has started taking us on a horse ride. This is stupidity of him.

    • No, Zambia had a dictator president for 27 years! A DICTATOR KK & surely that what once was and always will be. Nothing else can ever change this FACT!

This 2015, in case some of yous have easily forgetful. The economic conditions in today’s era requires democratic principles, and if a country like Zambia spearheading recycled who plummeted the economy in the 1970s, what sort of development experience are people going to achieve if not BANKRUPTCY?
A country can’t progress if the same finance minister who was part of recessions of Zambian economy in the 70s, is still today 2015, the finance minister.
Most Zambians lack seriousness & the poor majority suffer consequences of pathetic leadership.

    • Bane, we have said it before that stolen victory can not deliver a clear mandate to do any thing.

Lungu is now in a dilemma. The two factions that helped him rig are clearly at war thats why he can’t constitute his cabinet easily. He so afraid of stepping on some prominent PF cadres’ toes who might swing the Bemba vote to the opposition come 2016.

When KK was faced with the same dilemma, he formed one party state after throwing tantrums.Mugabe and Kibaki (Kenya)invited the opposition to form governments of national unit to weaken the opposition after a very close contest. The result of which decimated the opposition completely.

Lungu is trying to invite HH to join hands and form a government of national unit , but unfortunately HH is No f00l to be bought into mediocrity like…

    • Number 10 @HH smelly cooking is also the free education that EL enjoyed! Don’t only think about the bad staff you riff raff!

    • LUNGU HAS SOLD OUR COUNTRY TO FOREIGNERS! LUNGU’S FINANCIERS HAVE PUT TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ZAMBIA, AIMED AT MILKING OUR COUNTRY SO THAT ONCE AGAIN WE BECOME A BEGGING COUNTRY LIKE MUGABE, AND HAVE A LOT OF DISORDER LIKE IN NIGERIA. LUNGU NOW LUNGU IS NOW AT MFEWE MEETING HIS FINANCIERS FROM NIGERIA, KENYA, ZIMBABWE, AND ANGOLA. LUNGU HAS SOLD OUR COUNTRY. LUNGU IS A MALAWIAN. LUNGU IS NOT A TRUE ZAMBIAN. HH SHOULD RUN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE HE IS 100% ZAMBIAN. FOR HOW LONG SHOULD LUNGU BE ON HOLIDAY? LAZY BONES!

    • well done, get some advice but make sure you keep modern demands in consideration as during KK, things were different.

God bless KK for healthy life..

    • Bloggers, Now this confirms what @Wantanshi:: had mentioned. So EL has no strategy / vision? he called the old man to guide / Advise him? ooh No we are doomed.

Edger should call younger professional Zambians to help him put proper delivery plan with clear short and long term strategy?? The old man can be wise, but modern demand are very different to his time and that’s where we go wrong.

    • I think it is good for Edgar, but not KK. The problem is that the tradition KK established, if a president invite you, you can’t refuse even if you just came out of Trust Hospital.
I hope there more than 3 doctors in Mfuwe.

    • How do you claim that hh is 100% Zambian when he himself does not know his father… You make too much illogical noise that you may not even know who hh is. May be you can educate us. Who are the parents of hh and where were they born? Tell us because what we know is that hh becomes angry every time one questions his parentage. Tell the nation because as hh reads this he will be angry and even cry for pity. We are waiting you write something. That’s why we want the new constitution. You are pathetic…to say the least. And you think you can lobby a real Bemba to endorse or vote for hh. You are the ones killing hh.. just as Munkobwe made hh lose in the previous by election.

  2. Well-done Mr. President. Dr. Kaunda is a resource person who every president in our nation should have been consulting. He knows a lot and can pass a lot of useful information to you. I was delighted to chat with him for two hours. What a man! God bless you both!

    • You hippocrites and f.ool.s, lelo ati kaunda is wise when you were the same people who were calling him chifonkofonko in 1990-91. Just because he is near Lungu lelo awama. Thats the problem with us; no principles nensoni tatwakwata!!!!
      Get out with your wisdom!!!!!

  3. Yavuta kupanga cabinet….i think the advice he got from Mugabe is not working well.He doesn’t know how do deal with Kambwili,Scott,Lubinda etc

    • Aziright. Think bankala mu deadlock. Nkani yavuta ku Mfuwe so KK is joining as the mediator. Witness ni malinso.

      Viva Zambia.

    • It is amazing how Zambian can pickup a word and run with it without even comprehending the full meaning. Vision has become such a fashionable word to through around. What do you mean when you say he has no Vision? A vision is not a laundry list or a to do list. Because hakainde listed things he wanted to do such as reducing price of mealie meal does not imply he has a vision.
A vision statement merely states where you see the country or the company to be in future. It is such a nebulous statement used as a guide. But means nothing if the leader is not action oriented. We all know where Lungu or other leaders want our country to be. Give the president space to work.

    • @Cactus, I’m glad you enjoyed @Nono’s sense of humour.

Anyway, not every vision is important, only a good vision is important.

However, Zambians ought to ask themselves what vision they want their leaders to implement. Will it help the Country if every President who comes brings a different vision? Shouldn’t we be the Vision setters, while the contenders should tell us what strategies they would employ towards achieving that vision, so we can assess the best person for the Job?

It’s like you want to hire a coach and each coach come with their own visions. What if a coach of an African team tells you that his vision is to win the European Cup? Sounds flattering but it’s a stupid vision because it’s unattainable.
A country should not change vision like underwear at every…

    • @cactus, can u state your company’s vision, can u tell me Obama’s vision statements is can u tell what David Cameroon’s vision is?
Now can you tell me the US democratic party and the republican party’s vision is?

You will find that it is easier to articulate a party’s vision than an individual leaders’ vision.

And learn read, digest and analyze; at no point did I say a vision is not important. We are not using the word properly when it comes to criticized Mr. Lungu.

  4. Dr Kenneth David Kaunda can you please sort out the Barotseland Agreement once and for all ! we want peace in mother Zambia. Prevention is better than cure !

    • You ve never heard that its KK wamuyaya? LOL. He will always be around to sort out that mess, don’t worry at all and sleep easy dear.
      🙂

    • Thats why KK has been invited to Mfuwe, to be consulted on the BA’64. President Lungu was due in Western province on return from Addis Ababa but has shifted dates so as to make enquiries on the BA’64

  5. Ba zambian watchdog u are the dullest in the history of this country. KK managed to break the fibre of tribalism and therefore, he is the right man to consult wen it comes to national consensus building. EL wud easily make his cabinet and make changes to government structures but he is cautious of the fact that the leader leads and the governed govern. EL is really a jubilee president. Viva zambia

  6. This is not Rocket science, it’s clear there is something wrong.

Granted, it’s always good to consult elders when you have a vision backed with a plan, or when you are following someone’s vision with a credible legacy.

But when you have NO vision other than a To Do List copied from someone else, and when you clearly are doing the opposite of someone’s legacy you PROMISED to follow, then whether we like it or no, it goes beyond prolonged consultations. It becomes a suspected case of being blackmailed which you are trying to shake off, or a symptom of seeking to be hand-held and lead because you are not equal to the task.

The question is which is which?

  7. HE President Lungu must be supported for taking time to reflect and consult before he announces the full cabinet. President Lungu has a very tight and shortest presidential tenure….he is presiding over a country that’s is be pushed into tribal divisions and general social economic hardship among the majority of zambians….it’s thus prudent for the president to choose a strategic, balanced and capable team to help him deliver…failing that it will be a difficult 16months ahead…May God’s grace abound for HE EL n the the great people of Zambia.

    • Whatever prompted Edgar Lungu to reappoint Chikwanada as Finance Minister is puzzling! Surely there are other well qualified people who can do the job better. Someone of Magande’s calibre. Surely Zambia has such people.
Mr President, please rethink this appointment.

  8. Chito Yavuta.Whats happening,he cant even do things without consulting. We are in trouble. The man wasnt ready for such a job.Dragging the old man to fly to Mfuwe soon after discharge from hospital?

  9. Zambian Watchdog, please my ribs are aching from laughing! Cut and paste president. You should take up stand up comedy mate!

  10. Tu UPND imwe ninshi kanshi? Your Under Five failed to win the “Presidential” debate! He came out number four so stop being clever. The President knows what he is doing instead of just sayin economic manager economic manager for nothing.

HH will NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY AND IF HE CAN READ BETWEEN THE LINE LET HIM QUIT NOW!

  11. Edgar Chakolwa Kachasu Lungu; I think you are very drunk.

Even Angola a failed state has F00LISH people in government, why inviting a president who has even failed to form his own cabinet.

People of Zambia voted for you Lungu not to be trotting the world but to put food on their tables and to put medicine in their dilapidated hospitals. But it seems many years of taking Kachasu have really damaged your brain Mr. President. In other words, Zambia is rulled by three presidents that is Dictator Robbert Gabriel Mugabe, Nyamasoya Rupiah Bwezani Kumunzi Banda and you Your Excellency Edgar Chakolwa Lungu.

Honestly, since your inauguration, your popular rates have been going down.
Its like Ba Lungu is not sure wether he is the President or HH is. His mental capacity is so compresse

    • Iwe I think Chinakubaba over HH lost. My Nawakawi and Miyanda lost I moved on and prayed. Had a cold drink and plotted my grind.

  12. Lungu is doing exactly as he threatened, that he will implement advice dished by rejected failures, KK & RB, to guarantee Zambia is reduced to Zimbabwe levels. I hope KK won’t advice him to implement a one party state. Lungu is sheepish enough to carry it out.

  13. Its really laughable that you call someone who has been 2 weeks on the job with no full cabinet who is relaxing on holiday paid by poor taxpayers hardworking!!

  14. WELL, Zambians are very used to name recognition.. look, nobody in this world can not be gotten rid of. Nobody is that important. ECL has to be his own man and appoint a cabinet that suits his needs and foresight no matter how long it takes.

  15. Problem ni Chimbwili Kashimba! In the Cabinet he is an Arse but he is even a bigger Arse outside the Cabinet – so what can Chagwa do in this case?

  16. If HH has a vision, how come he keeps losing
Listing dreams is not a vision
HH listed promises, only promises and this not vision

  17. Yes nw get rb and nevas to join u,then after drinkin wateva that u nigas enjoy drinkin, get a tsjiambok each and giv rb a beatin of his life time

  18. Vision, intent , aspiration or your roadmap! How can learned people defend a President who goes wondering at State House…sometimes I really do wish we can debate intelligently.

There is no way a candidate can contest elections in mature democracies without a clear idea on employment, taxes, education, climate change, etc.

I am shocked in Zambia you can and people will support you! Shame.

  19. ….this scenario is a bit trick and suspicious….EL do not seem to see eye to eye with M’membe, KK is a ‘comrade to both EL and M’membe….could it be that KK has been ‘sent’ by M’membe to influence EL to slot in a member of the infamous cartel into the cabinet…onto a strategic position…??…M’membe knows that EL will go by whatever KK shall suggest…..
    ..just thinking allowed….

  20. ….this scenario is a bit trick and suspicious….EL do not seem to see eye to eye with M’membe, KK is a ‘comrade to both EL and M’membe….could it be that KK has been ‘sent’ by M’membe to influence EL to slot in a member of the infamous cartel into the cabinet…onto a strategic position…??…M’membe knows that EL will go by whatever KK shall suggest…..
    ..just thinking aloud….

  21. For now let’s give thanks to the Almighty that KK was discharged from hospital and is able to travel. It is puzzling that EL has still not completed his cabinet. Watch out if RB goes to the retreat as well. By the way does RB’S wife really have cancer as he announced when he carried out his coup against Dr. Mumba? Isn’t strange that nothing more has been said about that?

    • I can confirm that Thandiwe has breast cancer. In fact one of her breasts was removed while she was in South Africa. What worries is that RB’s first wife died of the same disease- breast Cancer!

  22. Why are you guys expressing your desired deadlines so passionately? Isn’t this small wonder you pray to God and then give him ultimatums when your prayers should be answered? Pathetic. Let the guys work. If there is something broken in the nation call for an indaba. As far as I can see the status quo has continued – it is as if the cabinet moves anything in that country; you still have useless, archaic statutes on your books that supports outsiders and punishes your own. Start talking to your sleepy MPs who only want to be Ministers!!!!

  23. I can confirm that Thandiwe has breast cancer. In fact one of her breasts wasremoved while she was in South Africa. What worries is that RB’s first wife died of the same disease- breast Cancer!

  24. Please Mr President be careful with people like KK, they will bring you down. They think they know it all and will confuse you because their interest is to see that you give their relatives appointments in your govt.

  25. My young nephew went to stay with my old folks for a while after his parents died. When I went to pick him up in order for him to come and start school, I was shocked to hear him complaint of backache and how his sight was letting him down just like his grandfather my dad. I regretted having created a 90yrs man out of a 7yrs boy.

  26. For 2 weeks now the president has failed to come up with a full cabinet line-up, it’s unprecedented. Something is not right. It’s becoming comical and the truth will soon be known.

  27. Cry the beloved country…The idea for EL to go to Mfuwe is great but its the current state of infrastructure that leaves a lot to be desired. Kwati ni mu colonial…Anyway that’s Zambia for you. He is on the right path if he is really consulting from the elders and not just a curtain raiser. Development can only be achieved by vision and patriotism and not the desire for personal enrichment (Accumulation of Wealth) as demonstrated by some of our previous leaders. Only time will judge. As for now we can just give all the support to you Mr President…Hon. E.C. Lungu….Wako ni wako!

  28. ‘The grass is greener on the other side, till you get there, and see for yourself’..Lucky Dube. EL is feeling the heat now, next to feel the heat is the electorate.
