President Edgar Lungu today held talks with his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma in Cape Town.

Mr. Lungu, who arrived at Cape Town International Airport at 13:00 hours Zambian time, is in South Africa for an official visit.

The President was invited last month by Mr. Zuma for an official visit when the two heads of states met during the African Union summit in Addis Ababa.

He is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba, his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda and his Political Advisor Kaizer Zulu.

President Lungu was welcomed in South Africa by that country’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkona-Mashabani, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Muyeba Chikonde and Zambia’s Chief of Protocol Humphrey Chibanda.

Apart from the official talks he has had with President Zuma, President Lungu is also expected to be interviewed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) before returning to Zambia today.

Meanwhile, President Edgar Lungu is this Friday expected in Chipata district in the Eastern province to officiate
at this year’s N’cwala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni speaking people.

Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary George Zulu confirmed the development to ZANIS in Chipata today.

Mr. Zulu said the Head of State is also expected to be conferred with the status of the freeman of Chipata.
Mr. Zulu said President Lungu will be joined by his counterparts from Malawi Peter Mutharika and Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique.

He however added that representatives from other countries like the United States of America, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe are among dignitaries that have also confirmed their attendance.

The PS said the President is also expected to light up the villages in Chipata district that were recently electrified by the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) in conjunction with ZESCO.

Mr. Zulu said the light up village project in Chipata is one of the main projects that government is undertaking to electrify rural parts of the country.

And Chipata District Commissioner Kalunga Zulu disclosed that all is set for this Saturday’s N’cwala ceremony.

Mr. Zulu said the organizing committee is working with government departments to ensure that everything was in place for the successful hosting of the ceremony.

    • He seems to have spent more time away from statehouse than any sitting president in their first 30 days.

Conclusion: he is not up to the job

Vote Rainbow in 2016 and say no mediocrity and induced reciprocity
Say Hello to the winning team

      VOTE Rainbow 2016

    • The President of the Republic of Zambia is usually seen as the President of Africa. Many African leaders never verbalize it, they simply act it … That’s why we should only elect viable individuals like ECL.

Look at the body language of other presidents when they are in the company of a Zambian President, they always acquiesce … it started with KK, we saw it with Levy and now reincarnated with ECL.

The smart of the Zambian Enterprise chose good and other leaders on the continent have acquiesced! I love this guy, ECL … He going to be one of the best presidents the world ever knew, ever since the Romans invented democracy.

ECL is my kind of president. God speed, Mr. President and may God continue to bless the best country He gave man on the continent of Africa.

    • Mushota, the trouble with the Rainbow, is that it looks beautiful, but it is actually an apparition. It is not tangible. You cannot touch it and it is elusive. Thus the Rainbow Party.

    • br mumba ati since the romans invented democracy? You are so easily lied to, no wonder we see such voting patterns in zambia.you never do any research later on credible ones. to you what u are told to read is enough research. am giving you 24 hours to correct yourself abot that roman democracy non.sense you just uttered.

    • @zagaze:

I know your kind … wanting to act like Mr. Know it all. You don’t have to give me a 24 hour ultimatum. Your limited research actually lets you think that the Greek invented democracy.

Yes, it was in Greece where the concept of “government by the people” was born, nurtured and brought to its greatest blossoming. But who ruled the Greeks at the time?

The Romans did and they actually devised the theory of voting for it to be called a government by the people for there is no democracy without voting.

Voting gives us the essence of democracy for without voting there’s no democracy and voting was perfected by the Romans. Therefore, the Romans invented real democracy.

There was no democracy before that for all semblances of such were nothing but primitive.

    • SO THIS GUY GUY JUST WENT FOR AN INTERVIEW WITH SABC…………BURNING JET 1 FOR AN INTERVIEW…………BUT ZAMBIA KWENA

  1. Talking to Jacob? This Jacob is the most unpopular president in SA. His dubious dealings have cost him popularity. So what is Edgar talking to Jacob about?

    • Hmm really.? Jakob is a tough guy…obviously you’d have been saying the opposite had it been ka HH…we know you know chaps.

      Till 2016…Viva Ed

    • Lack of wisdom is a big problem in Africa. A wise man walks with the wise and foolish man is companion of fools waiting for destruction.

Someone who makes friends with Mugabe, Zuma, Katumbi and Rupiah Banda, is indeed a big fool who lacks no wisdom.

    • You are righteous! Zambia is a special cut of God’s creation. We can stand tall among our brothers and sisters.

His Excellency President Lungu is a chosen and blessed Leader.

He has purpose….to restore Zambia to its proper staus and that it operates with a ‘clean’ political, Eco social ethos.

    • DON’T FORGET THAT ZAMBIA HAS A SPECIAL PLACE, NOT ONLY IN AFRICA BUT THE WORLD OVER. WE ARE MORE DEMOCRATIC EVEN MORE THAN THE ‘BIGGEST’ DEMOCRACIES OF THIS WORLD. WE ARE MORE ACCOMMODATING THAN MOST OF THE COUNTRIES IN ON THIS PLANET. MOREOVER, DEPENDING ON POLITICAL WILL ZAMBIA CAN BE DEVELOPED OR BECOME A MIDDLE INCOME SOCIETY WITHIN 5 YEARS. THE EXAMPLE HAS BEEN SET BY SATA’S 3 YEARS RULE. WHOLE ZAMBIA HAS TO QUICKLY WORK ON IS INDUSTRIALIZATION AND FOOD PROCESSING IN ORDER TO PUT A HALT TO EXPORTING RAW, SERIOUS COMMUTER TRANSPORT (trams proper commuter buses, city trains water transport, etc), SERIOUS DUAL CARRIAGE WAY POWERED RAIL SYSTEMS, DUAL CARRIAGE ROADS AND SERIOUS FARMING AND TOURISM.

    • B R Mumba, Sr

“acquiesce” you pulled a George Mpombo with that one. Had me going into the dictionary to check the meaning of that word lol. Indeed Zambian president exude that on the continent.

      Senior Citizen

Indeed we are standing tall amongst African Presidents. Also president Lungu is really tall lol.

  3. It’s 2015 and Wanzelu is still wishing other people dead…some things will surely never change… Ati ECL has gone for a medical check up…really.? Wanzelu Really.? Get a life

    • WANZELU DOESN’T LOVE HIS OWN SELF. ALL HATRED HE DISPLAYS IS JUST A REFLECTION OF HOW HE REALLY FEELS ABOUT HIMSELF.. HE WILL CONTINUE LIKE TILL HE LEARNS TO LOVE HIMSELF.

  4. This man is quite tall man, he seems to tower above all the people I’ve so far seen him around. Anyhow, Ifintu ni Lungu!!

  5. lungileyo ;Just like his Name ,lungu, Its good for the region and the country in business and relations looking at the volumes and direction in trade and flows

  6. What kind of President is Edgar Lungu? Too much moving. He is a president with almost no agenda for the country. I think Zambians who voted for him are now very frustrated that they voted for the President with no agenda.

He is possed with the evil spirit of Rupiah Banda of just gallivanting and stealing public resources. It a wake up call for all Zambians.

    • Speak for yourself man, I voted for ECL and am very happy with his performance so far. Sata Destroyed Zambia’s standing with other countries because of his lack of diplomacy and ECL has brought it back. right now we will be having a foreign president visit us for bilateral discussions and soon we will two more coming for a traditional ceremony. Envy and bitterness will kill you my friend!

  7. Thank you @Big L for your wisdom and reading the poor minds of these haters @Shi Mpundu pa nkoloko and the ever directionless Mushota-fu. God bless you Mr. President.

  8. Nice to see we maintain our friendships with neighbours.

    United we stand.

@Mushota, there has to be a lot of rain/moisture in the environment for a rainbow to form. Much as I was sorry for Wynter Kabimba when summarily dismissed; I just think he is too wrong a person to allow power. He is a bit arrogant and comes across like a bully! Why oh why do you keep dumping on Sata’s PF! You loved him so!

    • Another 200,000 votes taken away from the opposition. You cant insult the Republican President no matter how much you detest him or her. The bible instructs us to respect Government (i.e. the leaders above us). Anything short of it is a curse on oneself.

  9. It one way of steeling legally from the poor people of Zambia, more travels more travelling allowances, for those who do not know what i am talking about, every president gets an allowances when the travel, which in most cases is far much more than the normal salary. On top of the allowances there are travel costs as well.
In short EL is just interested in making so much money as in can in the shortest possible time and people say he is a humble man, but i can tell you that he is just putting up this humble mask to cover up for his evil side.

  10. Zimbabwe’s Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa has confirmed that his country will not be held liable should Zambia and Zimbabwe fail to repay or in any way default on the $250 million loan for the renovation of the Kariba dam.

Chinamasa said all such liability will be on Zambia but the project will benefit both countries.

Even if Zambia guaranteed the huge amount of money, the Kariba dam generates more power for Zimbabwe 750 megawatts (MW) of electricity for Zimbabwe than the 600MW for Zambia

    • simple in that case the whole dam will belong to Zambia and Zimbabwe will start paying for their share of electricity. in any case what was the way forward for Zambia, allow the dam to collapse? Engineers have been warning that the dam in its current state was unstable and if nothing was done the dam would eventually collapse. Give us an alternative to what the government did. My bet is you don’t have an alternative.

    • This is somewhat twisted.

The question really, is, can Zambia get the 600MW you calculate for Zambia, if Kariba Dam fails completely? No.

So this is mutually beneficial. Get over it.

  11. LUNGU IS A CRIMINAL AND A HEARTLESS DICTATOR. LOOK AT THE EXPENSES, THE TRAVELLING ALLOWANCES WHICH HE IS GIVING HIMSELF. ZAMBIA WILL NEVER DEVELOP AS LONG AS IT REMAINS IN THE HANDS OF THESE CRIMINALS.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  12. Tiye nayo mukwasu,,,,navionelanji neo nufuna kunyopola tyala,,ndipo chino chaka neo ni ikwele ngako ndeke. Kulema kweve osalabila nakulabila, nalemela kale…kusauka kwasila lomba neo. Mweo ngati muliye ndalama nizanu izo osanipanga chongo neo.Nilekeni nilyele.

    IFINTU NI MALABISHI YEKA YEKA

  13. In all faireness, this is a good picture. It is excellent PR for EL. The only challenge is that most leaders who are consumed with PR stunts in order to build an image ‘by association’ with the ‘great’ easily fail to exert the required level of influence on their peers. At times, pictures of this nature are an exhibition of an inferiotiy complex. What will matter for Zambia is not how our President travels the region to have selfies with the most influentail trying to use him BUT how many of the influenntail will trot to Zambia to have selfies with him. The latter is what we call, ‘Effective PR traction”. On the whole, great initiative EL.

    • Great observation JJP! To show strength and influence in my neighbourhood, I enjoy seeing neighbours’ children frequenting my home to meet my kid. I do not want it the other way round.

  14. lungu visit has uplifted the sentiments around Zambia in the eyes of focused investors to Southern Africa

His interview at SABC which you can watch at 21 hrs.(8) GMT will help you see

Its like there is light at the end of tunnel in Zambia as observed by many who follow the Zambian Political economic landscape

watch the interview and see how your president has raised and reduced the perception on country political and economic risks

Watch SABC or download your u tube

  15. Mushita, sad of you. Last time u were on HH, now u r on Rainbow. This rainbow is a none starter. u will cry like u did when HH Haleisa Helo Hasapitilila!!!!!

  16. Hey president is looking very nice!!!FOR SURE IFINTU NI LUNGU!!!!congrats to the man who is dressing our beloved president!!!I LOVE YOU SO MUCH MY MAN!!!LET DREAMERS IN OPPOSITION KEEP ON MAKING NOISE WHILE YOU RULE!!!WISH YOU LONG LIFE MY MAN!!!IN 2016 YOU 100% HAVE OUR VOTES!!!!GO PF GO!!!

  17. It is fair for anyone to continue hitting at opposition or HH for every success of Lungu. EL is president to deliver and those in opposition are not. His job now is to demonstrate that he is president to offer quality life for all Zambians. This is how we will judge him and not by how much he competes with the oppostion who do not have access to resources such as public media at his disposal. It is high time people focused on EL presidency and not live under the shadow of HH who is not president. Besides, HH, like any other opposition leader, committed no crime to compete for the top office. It is not easy to be in opposition and still remain relevant. He offered hismelf to lead but since he is not in power, we cannot compare his effectiveness with that of EL. PF won and let us move on.

    • Stop apologising. Your error was a Fruedian a Slip.

Your subconscious mind says you know deep down in your heart that IT IS FAIR FOR ZAMBIANS TO HIT ON THE MAN WHO IS NEGATIVE AND TRIES TO DESTROY THE COUNTRY!

  18. So – what did they talk about? Or is it a secret? In which case why publishing a story about it, since the story contains no information?

  19. A picture is worth a thousand words…we do not know the context of the meeting. If HE ECL spoke on SABC as a fellow blogger has commented, can the State House Spokesperson share the interview as part of PR. In the absence of not knowing the purpose of the visit, this picture alone speaks; relationships, bilaterals, respect of each other as heads; communication with neighbouring heads; many Zambians living in SA see this as positive to see their President in the midst of the heads of the country in which they reside; above all our President is well, alive, intelligent and articulate. Let’s look at what we have in a positive light. ECL please don’t let us down, we are behind you Sir.

  20. @Patriotabroad. The Kariba North bank power station has been upgraded to produce about 900MW of power while the Kafue was upgraded to above 1000MW of power, Mwashalamuchakale!

  21. All of you spewing tribally induced hate are economic slaves in uk, USA, rsa e.t.c. You know nothing about what is happening right here in Zambia. For your information, Lusaka now looks like a war battered city due to street vending and pools of directionless filthy water. The kwacha is on the verge of collapse the Zim dollar way. I thought all of you, economic refugees, could focus on advising your dear EL on fixing the economic and political mess?

    • If you have nothing to say, Shut up your mouth. If you have any advice, then go straight into it than blaming those who you claim do not know the economic & political mess that is in Zambia. You are always ‘thoughting’ instead of thinking. Be present man. Get a life.
