I GET a copy of the national intelligence report before it reaches President Edgar Lungu, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema revealed yesterday.

Speaking at a press briefing, Mr. Hichilema said, “As I sit today Edgar Lungu gets his intelligence reports, I actually get a copy ahead of him. I know what is going on. I know what he is doing.”

He revealed that from this information he discerned that President Edgar Lungu has allegedly sourced US$10 million to destabilize the United Party for National Development (UPND) and has allegedly sent intelligence officers to South Africa to investigate the source of its campaign funds in last month’s elections, its leader, Hakainde Hichilema, has claimed.

But Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Chama said Mr. Hichilema’s accusations were baseless and aimed at tarnishing President Lungu and the PF’s image. The Zambian people had rejected HH and there was no need for “clandestine” operations because he would continue to be rejected.

Mr Hichilema claimed that President Lungu was using part of the money to buy his members of Parliament to accept ministerial jobs and support the ruling party.

Mr Hichilema said he was also aware of five intelligence officers that President Lungu had allegedly sent to South Africa to investigate his sources of funding in the just ended presidential polls.

Mr Hichilema said it was Zambians who funded him for the January 20, 2015 presidential elections and that at no time did he leave the country to go and source for funding.

He advised his party members to be conscious that the US$10 million which was currently in circulation to buy UPND members of parliament was not genuine.
“I am not like him who went to Boko Haram in the middle of the night without the knowledge of acting president Dr Guy Scott then to seek for funding,” he said.

But Mr. Chama said President Lungu could not waste such colossal sums of money to plot against the UPND.

He said UPND would never win any elections come 2016 as the PF would scoop the polls again.

“Hichilema will never be President because he cannot be trusted and he is a liar. It is unfortunate that he can lie in order attract public sympathy,” he said.

Mr Chama said President Hichilema was hallucinating because he was bitter over the loss in the January 20, 2015 presidential election

    • I remember even the late President Sata was at one time despised and was never expected to ascend to the republican presidency. A lot of his opponents mocked him like Davies Chama is doing to HH and the last man to mock Sata was his former SG on his election day. Five days later he was declared president.
      If HH is really not a threat to the ruling PF, why all these swift attempts by Kambwili and Davies Chama to refute every claim he makes?? I think a person without any impact would not be paid attention to.

    • Mr. Davies Chama should be honest in his life. Surely with voter apathy, only 1% can be used not cheating as if it was the entire country.
      Moreover, Chama should also differentiate Govt & PF as a party. Despite the arrogance, Kambwili suited for such communication.
      The economy is distorted & the Kwacha is currently the worthless currency world over. $1=K7 plus but Lungu et al are squandering monies yet the majority of Zambians are suffering poverty.

      Dictatorship is smelling badly. Keep up the pressure Hakainde Hichilema. In fact Lungu was also talking about drinking & refuted Dr Scott as not being his friend. A fake reconciliation just for Lungu to scoop PF leadership.
      Well done HH, 1% difference is making PF vigorously to have visionless days & nights.

    • This what I call nip it in the bud. HH has just pre-emptied Lungu and PF ‘s mission to destabilise UPND . To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

      The report HH got is from Mwamba’s close associates he thought would keep the info secret but alas they are not happy with what is happening is Zambia under the PF. There are some intelligence officers not happy with the way Lungu has purged them. So definitely out that unhappiness they are seeking attention from other political players who might grant them reprieve when they ascend to power.

      HH gets these reports from well wishers. Mind you he has powerful friends in South Africa and across the world who are monitoring intelligence . So any attempt to plan anything funy will definitely be tapped by HH ‘s intelligence.

    • In a functioning democracy, top opposition leaders like HH and Nevers Mumba would be entitled to some intelligence information so they help shape defence and safety policy.

      Unfortunately Zambia is a rogue state under PF and so the only intelligence Lungu and OP gather is about plans to stabilize the opposition party instead gathering intelligence to keep citizens safe from the wrath of PF thugs. Under such a circumstance, HH has act quickly to pre empty what ever evil Lungu and his team are planning against him.

      Lungu should gather intelligence to protect citizens not to fight opposition parties.

      What ever plans Lungu and PF are making with Mugabe, should be stopped at once because they have the potential to set Zambia on fire. And once a civil war starts, Zambia would…

      Lungu and PF ‘s plans have been thwarted. UPND intelligence team is watching every move Lungu is making with Mugabe very carefully.One of the plans out of that intelligence report are being implemented right now. This explains why violence has suddely increased with impunity.

      So Zambians be warned. PF and Lungu are about to unleash violence to beat all those against Lungu into submission before 2016 elections.

    • Even during Sata ‘s regime, HH was always ahead of PF thugs. He mentioned it several times that he gets intelligence reports about any thing Sata and PF were planning against him.

      Thats why each time Sata sent his PF police to go and arrest him so they could poison him in jail, they were always very late. HH ‘s house would be surrounded by multitudes of supporters preventing the PF thugs from accessing HH ‘s house.

    • Unfortunately such kind of talk coming from HH will not help get him into State House. He is belittling the very office that he is seeking. While he has been preaching to move on as a nation, it appears his loss is really eating him.

      What good does it do to the (1) Voters, (2) UPND and (3) State Security when he alters such kind of alertness.

      What is HH trying to prove? Nothing!

      Such kind of talk is now starting to disparage himself

      I am not for Lungu or PF – but will respect his office and support him as president when he governs well. Lungu will make mistakes and learn from them.

      HH needs to very careful – He is not 100% Clean as he portrays himself. He is human and has made mistakes along the way that could hurt him if they came out publicly.

      Were you following the elections results closely? I don’t think so.

      HH came out to tell the nation exactly what was cooking at ECZ way before ECZ announced the winner. He issued a statement saying they ECZ delayed announcing the results because they busy cooking them.

      It must really have been hard for Mwamba and his thugs to change and balance the figures, thats why Mwamba went on over drive to cook even fake results announced on ZNBC.

      Even Mambilima is not a happy and free woman where ever she is, because she knows what transpired at ECZ after it was discovered that HH had won.

      Wanzelu, as always you sound factual. Yes, I followed the elections results just as keenly. And yet, if HH was indeed armed with that kind of solid evidence, why couldn’t he use it in his favour? Frankly, both him and his vice, Carnisius Banda, whatever his name is, sounded more like disillusioned men who were being chocked by the smoke of waking-up to the realization that they had just lost a costly election, they need not have lost.

      If having access to intelligence is HH’s strength, then it is sheer absurd for him to claim that he lost the last election because it was rigged. That is self-contradictory. Considering how poorly he performed in Lusaka, Kabwe and Copperbelt, I can see why he lost. He did very well everywhere else in the country.

      Was it not HH and his party who were constantly obstructing ECZ from announcing results??? I think we all followed proceedings albeit selectively…..

      I remember HH even holding a press conference saying they should not announce the winner until all the results are verified. Before that he locked himself in a meeting where only he knows what he was bargaining with Mambilima.

      Although he claimed to have had PVT he has never shared with the world the tabulation of those results by constituency to show how his votes were stollen. All this coming from a man with advance intelligence reports???

      And if he’s caged for espionage what shall he say???

    • Some PF members need to be helped and understand when to apply certain words; for example the word ‘bitterness’. To them whatever
      HH says is equated to bitterness. People are tired of this kind of narrow mindedness. PF has been lying and will continue doing so until most Zambians wake up from the sedating lies of certain PF pathological liars.

    • This is sad on two accounts. Firstly, HH bragging about getting classified information before EL. Yes opposition parties like UPND and MMD would be entitled to some level of intelligence to help them form their own policies. However of concern is that HH claims to receive it before EL. Procedures are not being followed. This is a security issue which could destabilize the nation. Secondly, if what HH is saying about the $10 million to destabilize UPND is true, it is indeed sad because it is against what Zambians stood for in 1991 which is multi party politics.

    • Mazoka was a man among men. He did not just have money and the brains, he was also full of wisdom and grace. It is the component of wisdom coupled with grace that make leaders distinguished. Except they are both Tongas, there is nothing else they share with HH.

      HH is rich and intelligent but he is clearly not wise and shows no grace.

      Wealth, knowledge , wisdom and grace, in that ascending order of importance should all be seen in one who wishes to be an ideal leader. I don’t know where to place Lungu as I really do not know much about him but I know Sata exhibited some acceptable level of wisdom and grace. HH shows a lot of strength in wealth and knowledge. If a leader does not posses these attributes, he should at least be wise.

    • The ECZ challenged HH to tabulate the names of Polling Stations and Constituencies where the results were cooked.HH is supposed to display the original result slips which the Presiding officers issue at every Polling Stations after the count of votes is completed and compare these figures to those ECZ announced.So far HH has failed to provide this information but shamelessly continues to cry that his votes were stolen!!!

      If HH is indeed that “super duper rich” as you put it, I wonder how he will be able to connect with the 47% super duper poor who live in abject poverty? These constitute an active sector of Zambia’s voter roll. Since HH is that rich, he can neither speak their language nor relate to their situation. Any wonder the people who live in Chawama are more able to relate with Edgar Lungu than with this “super duper rich” young ruler!

      Hey Squaremark, reading in-between lines of your post above, I am inclined to observe a cultural reality. Among the Tonga people, riches are a status symbol. It is for reason that a rich man among the Tonga people can marry as many wives as he wants to. It is not uncommon to hear of a woman who was married alone, who has opted to leave her husband to go and become the tenth wife of a rich man. Even young girls who have attained puberty dream to be eloped by a rich man, even if such a rich man were to be twice the age of her grandfather.

      When deciding for a successor for Anderson Mazoka – himself a wealthy man, Hakainde became the natural choice. Why? Because he, Hakainde, was also a wealthy man. Whether HH had political acumen or not was inconsequential.

      Squaremark, to conclude my observation above, I must let you know that Zambia is not Kenya or Gabon. In those two countries, among others, the rich are worshipped. In Mexico, the more handsome one is the more likable and more likely to succeed at the ballot box, irrespective of one’s brain power. In most Western countries, however, including the U.S., brain power, among others, is the major criterion for choosing a national leader. In Zambia, one’s wealthy may be a factor, albeit only among the Tongas. Our last president, the late Michael Sata had only six guns to his name and he won the presidency. Can you imagine that!

One day he says am stinking rich, on the other am very educated, yet on another day I have impounded trucks containing pre-marked ballot papers, on another day we have seen buses carrying foreigners going to destabilize peace in southern and western provinces……….the list is endless. alarming the nation and constantly boasting those are not hallmarks of a good leader..

  115. If HH is so resourceful, how did he lose? The answer is simple, the Zambian people saw behaviour and said no. Whether he has intelligence report or not does not make more than EL. EL is his boss and HH is a subject to EL because the latter is his President and that is the truth.

    The childishness in HH and the way he cries like a little baby simply puts people off. You cannot win sympathy by these acts. Turning a funeral into a political rally, stealing government documents, etc. It means HH wanted to even steal the election. It means cooked many votes, especially in his strongholds.

    He will kiss dust again in 2016, with intelligence reports in his hands. He can have reports he wants, but he is not a politician.
