VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina says members of opposition political parties are taking advantage of the Patriotic Front (PF)’s lack of membership cards to commit crimes and other atrocities.
Ms Wina said cadres from the opposition are denting the “good image” of the ruling party by committing crimes and other vices and put the blame on PF cadres.
She said this in Parliament yesterday during the Vice-President’s question time.
This was in response to a question from Namwala member of Parliament (MP) Moono Lubezhi (UPND) who wanted to know what action the government will take against people issuing statements that UPND Munali constituency chairman Glyzier Matapa was not murdered by PF cadres but by criminals.
Kanti mama yo wa pulumuka! I do not expect such a shallow response from Mrs Wina. From Kambwili yes but not from her.
Spot on Kangonto! The answer to what the Veep is saying is to arrest those committing these crimes, take them to courts of las en to jail if found guilty! Short of that, zambians will be convinced that its PF cadres committing these crimes hence not being arrested. What we PF members must not forget is that elections are coming next year and these are the issues which will come back at us! If not tackled now, we shall have no time to do so then.
As expected Inonge is following the dossier given to Lungu by Mugabe ‘s chief political control general to never admit any violent conduct perpetrated by PF thugs. They were advised to deny any violence associated by PF thugs.
Lungu and all his followers were told to blame the opposition for what ever PF thugs do.
I would like to warn PF that their conduct is increasingly making HH ‘s job to control his supporters extremely difficult.
Currently he is under pressure to lift the lid on revenge or step down so that people ready to give PF a good fight can take over.
So very soon he will not manage to stop UPND supporters from revenging the injustice they are experiencing under the PF rogue regime.
What happened to Mr Matapa is a clear sign that Zambia headed for civil…
If Inonge and PF failed govt were serious, they would fire the entire police hierarchy for gross incompetence. What the Old Lady is telling us is police are failing to do their job and thus political violence continues ….
PF minions should be careful with such careless statements uttered by their PF leaders to blind fold and mislead them.
These PF thugs are operating under a scum authorised by Lungu himself.
Lungu told them do what ever they can to make money for them selves and the police and PF will protect them.

If what Inonge is saying is true then why has police failed to arrest killers. From her statements it seems she knows who the killers are.

its totally wrong to suggest that the crime was commited by PF cadres. Theres simply no proof.
Is it because the victim of this henious crime was a upnd official, so the crime automatically becomes politically motivated?
On the other hand, supposing the perpetrators of this crime were PF sympathizers, did the do it because they were PF or for other reasons?
How did upnd arrive at their conclusion that PF cadres commited this terrible crime? Let upnd and ichilema help the police….

Madam veep is correct in the sense that a cadre in zambia can belong to any party at any give time depending on who shows him colors. You cant tell a cadre by merely seein him wearing a party regalia.
What then is PF prepared to do about it? People are committing serious crimes in the name of PF, instead yu are blaming the opposition? Please, stop this violence immediately otherwise Zambia is headed for serious social conflict.
We feel sorry for the bereaved family.We urge witnesses to be brave.But what is not true is the assumption that every crime is being committed by PF.Is it true that all crimes are committed by ANC going by the fact SA is highest crime country in Africa?
I thought this woman was a wise Gogo, but her response shows that she is a treacherous old woman. Surely she should condemed violence and prod the police to arrest the perpetrators of violence. She seems to be more concerned with the image of the party than the crimes they are committing on innocent citizens. As an old woman, she should be in the one in the forefront of promoting peace.
Why do you think she was appointed VP? I don’t think it was because she is wise. This woman has never impressed me. I don’t know how she will be conversing with other leaders. She might be educated and was in the forefront in campaigning for EL but she is not VP material.
@man hills, your comparison with what is happening in Zambia and South Africa lacks substance, the crimes and violence taking place in Zambia now are politically motivated while many crimes in South Africa are poverty driven. The crimes in South Africa are not only committed by South Africans alone but by the many economic refugees who are in the country. In other words a lot of foreigners are involved in crime as a means of surviv. The PF leadership are the ones encouraging these crimes as a way of forcing people to stop supporting other parties. This culture of violence was started by Michael Sata and Lungu is building on it at a very fast alarming rates. The police in South Africa are not biased as the police are in Zambia. Violence is an evil that should be condemned at all costs.
What do you expect from people who are in power for the sake of their bellies? At least I have more respect for Mukombwe because he was honest enough to tell the nation that most politicians like this woman and Moono are in polities to eat. We had respect for the old grandmama but she has just lost us. Would she be issue into such a statement if Mutapa was his son? One day, the ld grandmama and Moono and you PF cadres will stand before the great judge and creator of Mutapa.

Indeed it seems her main job is to see EL off and welcome him back. Even though some people were happy that the first female VP had been appointed I for one didn’t see it as a plus. The problem is some of us celebrate for the sake of it. What is more important? Having a female VP for the sake of gender balance or a female VP who has the charisma, brains and wisdom? If this appt was because of the former then we are in trouble as a nation.

Also the expectation that Govt/PF should knee-jerkily round/muzzle people up based on allegations without facts and evidence is an idea only UPND folks can appreciate.
The “people issuing statements” are doing so in response to UPND’s rush to judgement by saying that the murder of Mr. Matapa was politically motivated and carried out by PF cadres. This is what people are responding to, not to disparage his death. For all we know at this time, Hon. Inonge may be right bcoz no one has all the facts yet!
How did Lungu become Pf and National president, It was by way of a panga. How did Pf cadres behave during and after elections, pangas. During campaigns those who sided with Scott were beaten and Scot would complain in public that is when police will apprehend the perpetrators. Lungu has not appologised for inciting his cadres and MMD to annihilate UPND members from the surface of the earth. When MMD was in power there was blood shed in mufumbwe. The fight was between MMD and blameless UPND. A PF carder was killed UPND said PF killed their friends when sharing money. in livingstone another PF cader was killed still UPND said PF killed themselves. UPND was found with pangas in Northern province no UPND condemned the act. Time will tell
