George Nyendwa set to become new Lusaka Mayor

Share

Chaisa Ward 11 PF Councilor George Nyendwa is today widely expected to be elected Lusaka Mayor during a special Council meeting following the appointment of Mulenga Sata to State House.

The Lusaka City Council will hold special Mayoral elections today to replace Mr Sata.

LCC Public Relations Manager Habeenzu Mulunda says the election of deputy mayor will also be considered when need arises.

Mr Mulunda said the special council meeting will start at 10hrs and has advised all councilors interested to contest to collect their nominations forms within 48 hours from the returning officer who is the Town Clerk.

But sources close to the mater have revealed that Mr Nyendwa is going to be elected Mayor unopposed whilst the Deputy Mayor Portipher Tembo will also keep his role unopposed.

  1. Oh Shut up!

Nyendwa means Uwaba Wa Ba Kulu.

The Royal Elders (Abena Nyendwa) were allowed to wear cod pieces to cover their ‘wamba’. The rest of the clan of ordinary people had to go stark naked.

It refers to the Cod piece that identified the Royals. The cloth of honour, in fact the tiara/crown with a difference!

In those days all tribes went around stark raving naked except the elders who wore cloth to stop commoners looking at the elders….

No need to argue with me on that name I am expert on it!! It’s not V or pus….!

  2. We have abena Nyendwa in Chilubi island and common belief in chilubi is that inyendwa is a lady’s pan cake and we are widely told by elders that abena nyendwa abanakashi have really sweet pan cakes.
Anyways Nyendwa will make a good mayor.Congrats if you become one your worship.

  3. Why have you define Nyendwa in Bemba ? What about Nyendwa in Luvale, Tonga, Lozi, Soli, Senga, Lenje and Kaonde mean?

  4. We only hope that Mr. Nyendwa will work very hard to ensure that Lusaka starts looking like a city (clean and well planned) and not the way the city is. Everything seems to be upside down.

We have left these jobs for you but if you don’t work to the expectation of the citizens, we will come through and show you what it is to be in leadership.

Take due diligence trips to Cities like Tokyo, London, and New York maybe you may have some inspiration. Even Botswana next door is far cleaner that our great country. Please lets make a difference in these positions we aspire for.

    All the best anyway.
