Zambia and Zimbabwe have officially launched KAZA INIVISA at the ongoing ITB Tourism Fair in Berlin in German.

The launch was officiated by Zambia’s Tourism and Arts Minister Jean Kapata and Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Walter Kanhanga.

Speaking during the launch at the Zambian stand, Ms. Kapata said the governments of the two countries recognizes the benefits of having a common visa for facilitating ease movements for tourists from countries that require visas.

Ms. Kapata noted that Southern African countries within SADC had been calling for the creation of a more tourist friendly movement for tourists to travel across the boundaries.

She indicated that the effective visa facilitation which increases visitor presence and earnings for the industry was key to unlocking the growth of the tourism sector.

The Minister further noted that the Southern Africa region was endowed with natural, cultural, historical and adventure tourist products yet tourist arrivals had not been maximized.

Implementation of the KAZA UNIVISA pilot project would be conducted in a phased approach where only four entry points for each country will be issuing the visa.

The Minister of Tourism and Arts has since urged Germans to take advantage of the UNIVESA to visit Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS yesterday by Embassy First Secretary for Press and Public Relations Yvonne Shibemba.

  1. That’s the trouble with having visionless/planless leaders. Why are we quick to jump in bed with Zimbabwe all of a sudden? When they were doing much better than us in the 80s and 90s, they didn’t want to be associated with us. Back then Zambians where laughed at and ridiculed. Ask anyone who knew Zimbabweans back then. The ones in the diaspora still think they are better than us, they are so detached from what is happening in their country. Mugabe is playing Lungu for the visionless foool he is.

    • Useless ! Can’t you fool get visa to Europe or asian countries ? What will Zambia get from Zimbabwe . Both countries now are useless economy .

    • People condemning this visa don’t understand what it’s all about. It’s actually a good idea because when a tourist gets a visa to visit Zambia, he can then go on to visit Zimbabwe without applying for another visa from the Zimbos – and vice versa.
Think Victoria Falls – you can visit both sides of the falls on a single visa. Both countries are bound to benefit from this arrangement.

  2. EL is vision-less, Mugabe is playing games. I feel for the Zedian Tax Payers. They are the ones losing a lot. Rainbow Party, here we come 2016.

  3. Rainbow Party getting well organized in the North East of USA, we will welcome GMB with open hands and the Party symbol, Strength and Experience, Leadership for the People. 2016 here we come with VISION for the Taxpayers.

  4. Wherever GBM goes he will want to be the one to call the shorts. He will want to be party boss, or nothing. Be warned upnd, or rainbow.

    • After 50 years of *****ic incompetence, we are finally getting back to where we were with the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland!

All these dictators have only managed to prevent development, not actively promote it.

THINGS FELL APART, and we are only now trying to fix them.

It feels like we have been frozen in time, stuck in poverty and corruption, oppressed and intimidated much worse than we ever were or ever could have been under the colonialists.

At least they were honest, not like these thieves we have had as Governments ever since independence!

    • It’s not a bad idea at all.

We can benefit mightily from such an arrangement. The gov’ts of Zimbabwe and Zambia should start mobilising citizens along this loose union; united we stand, divided we fall.

I think Zimbabwe has more manufacturing expertise than us. New can short circuit our long path to development, by putting together what we are good at regionally.

We will benefit from that for sure.

All that White land to Blacks; is just a scam the colonialists wanted to screw our minds with. Robert was right. Regrettable was that any amount of violence or human life was lost in trying to come to an amicable solution. Whites wanted impossible status quo. That is a pattern in all historical progression of nations, a bit of a skirmish and then peace.

    • Should read:

I think Zimbabwe has more manufacturing expertise than us. WE can short circuit our long path to development, by putting together what we are good at regionally.

  5. The visa is welcome, tourists will stray into Zambia with ease from Zim even if it’s just for some hours, they will sale what they see when they go back. E have Alot to do and learn from our Zim friends.

  6. This is a very good idea. It will boost tourism. On the political side Zambia has taken over from Zimbabwe on the international stage, in that region. Western countries would rather work with us and invest with us because we are a stable country. We are threatened by HH and his desperate attempts to be President. That’s where Zambia’s future danger lies, in a man who can divide the nation using Rwanda style tribal violence.

Europe and USA should also see the potential of maintaining a base in Zambia in that Southern region. A stable base. We in return must keep our hard earned respect from the neighbours we liberated in independence struggle. We have to live with them at the end of the day, Westerners pack up and go if things flatline. Remember that.
