Share

Zambia will this afternoon know their opponents in the 2017 Africa Cup qualifiers.

The draws will be made this afternoon following the announcement of the 2017 Africa Cup host at 15h00 in Cairo.

The 2017 qualifiers will kick-off during two match dates stretching over the week of June 8-16, 2015.

Thirteen groups of four teams will battle for places at the 2017 Africa cup.

Zambia are in Pot A and will avoid Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Algeria, DR Congo, Guinea, Senegal, Cameroon and their new nemesis Cape Verde.

However, they could be drawn against South Africa, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Ethiopia, Togo, Morocco , Niger, Uganda, Sudan or perennial nemesis Egypt from Pot B.

Pot C consists of Mozambique, Botswana, Libya, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Benin, Rwanda, Tanzania, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Gambia.

Pot D comprises of Guinea Bissau, Seychelles, Burundi, Mauritania, Chad, Madagascar, Sao Tome, Comoros, Swaziland, South Sudan, Mauritius, Djibouti and Zambia’s 2016 CHAN qualifiers opponents Namibia.

And for the first time, a host nation will take part in the qualifiers in an initiative to keep them active with their results in the allotted group classified as mere friendly games.
