PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has hailed the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership in Lusaka for conducting peaceful campaigns ahead of today’s parliamentary by elections in Chawama constituency.

Mr Lungu said he was very happy with the manner his party conducted campaigns in all three constituencies.

There have never been any incidences of violence or intimidation recorded in all three constituencies where by elections are taking place today. Chawama, Masaiti and Senga Hill constituencies have all recorded peaceful campaigns.

“That’s how it should be, you have been very peaceful. I want to thank you for that and please continue being peaceful even after winning don’t mock the losers just celebrate in peace,” Mr Lungu said after arriving at Andrew Mwenya polling station shortly before casting his vote.

He was speaking to PF Lusaka province youth chairman Kennedy Kamba who was flanked by the PF Chawama candidate Lawrence Sichalwe, Matero MP Miles Sampa and Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President Stephen Kampyongo.
President Lungu cast his vote around 0945 shortly after arrival.

And PF candidate Lawrence Sichalwe said he is confident of winning the seat that fell vacant after the area MP Edgar Lungu was elected republican president on 20 January 2015.

“I am confident of getting this seat because the opposition has been building castles in the air with their campaigns,” he said.

Mr Sichalwe added that if elected he will continue with the projects he started as a councillor with the major one being the construction of the drainage into blue water that will mitigate the flooding Chawama experiences during the rainy season.

    • If anybody was ever in doubt that political violence in Zambia was orchestrated by the PF party, there is your answer. When PF is peaceful, there in no political violence. It desisted from violence in these bye elections and there has been peace and given a part in the back by the President. A blatant admission from the highest official of the PF party as to who was the culprit.

    • @1 VERY GOOD OBSERVATION. I ALSO THOUGHT ALONG THE SAME LINES. REALLY, ZAMBIANS MUST CULTIVATE MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR THESE INSTITUTIONS. WE KNOW AT LEAST PF HAS IMPLEMENTED SO MUCH BUT STILL MUCH LEAVES TO BE DESIRED.

    • Shocking!

Its time PF become peaceful. The people have been exhausted by PF regrettable cadres with their axes & pangas dehumanizing people with diverse operations.

No more ANARCHY! But for how long? Hoping forever. Good luck to all the candidates, nevertheless the, great wishes & win for the opposition.

  3. Thanks Edgar for acknowledging that PF has been the perpetrator of violence and everyone else was merely defending themselves. Yes indeed, keep that spirit because there will never be violence as long as the PF stops violence. Good show

    • It was the campaign managers’ initiative, they worked together, put up thier different political party posters together without any confrontations. Big up to Miles Sampa and the other guys for showing maturity during the campaigns!

  8. So is this classroom part of PF’s development they have been bragging about? Shame! Renovating the classroom will cost not cost much.

  9. So it turns out the classrooms in Lusaka look exactly the same as those in Chipata where I attended primary school. And the many years since my days have not changed anything for the better.

  10. I want to find out the credibility of this media the so called Watchdog do they have trained journalist ? I have said so because of all the time they just report on two things PF and Edgar Lungu .if they report on something still edgar should be there.
