Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta has urged civil servants in Rufunsa district to be patriotic and dedicated to their duties.

Mr. Mwaliteta said government was committed to addressing challenges that government workers were faced with in new districts hence the need for them to be dedicated to their work.

Speaking when he held a brief meeting with civil servants at the National assembly office in Rufunsa, Mr. Mwaliteta urged civil servants to be patriotic and offer their services to the people of Rufunsa in a nonpartisan manner.

Mr. Mwaliteta urged the civil servants to persevere for a while as government was working tirelessly to address challenges that government workers in new districts were faced with.

“I know the challenges that civil servants in new districts like Rufunsa are faced with. My coming here to Rufunsa is to give you hope that my government through Lusaka Province administration is working on modalities to address challenges that government workers in the province are faced with,”he explained.

Mr. Mwaliteta added that staff accommodation is one of the major challenge in Rufunsa.

Rufunsa District Education Board Secretary Peter Ndhlovu who spoke on behalf of the civil servants, said despite some challenges they were faced with, government workers in Rufunsa were working very hard because they wanted to leave a legacy.

“We are a motivated civil service because of government’s commitment to address our challenges. We want to leave a legacy as a people who started this district,” Ndhlovu stated.

And Mr. Mwaliteta has called on the Mpanshya Royal establishment of the Soli people of Rufunsa to quickly resolve the land disputes with the local authority because government was in a hurry to develop Rufunsa district.

Mr Mwaliteta said Rufunsa district council and the traditional leadership in the district need to quickly resolve outstanding land disputes in order to pave way for the construction of the district administration block and civic centre in the district.
