Government says it is proud with the performance of Zambian peacekeepers who have worked with the United Nations and the African Union in various missions world over.

Deputy Minister of Defence Christopher Mulenga said owing to their professionalism and good discipline, Zambian peacekeepers have been highly rated.

Mr Mulenga also commended the defence wings for working together in maintaining the peace that the country is currently enjoying without which development could be a farfetched dream.

Mr Mulenga said this in Lusaka today at the send-off parade of the first batch of troops forming part of the Zambian battalion being deployed to the Central African Republic on United Nations stabilisation mission-MINUSCA.

The Deputy Minister of Defence said it was gratifying that as a member of the international community Zambia has once again been called upon to assist towards the attainment of peace and stability in that country.

He cautioned the officers to carry out their mandate impartially and to understand and interpreter the latest development in that in their correct context.

Mr Mulenga urged the officers against getting entangled in the politics of the host country.

Meanwhile, Mr Mulenga has commended the American government through the American Embassy in Zambia in conjunction with United States Army Africa command for their invaluable support to the Zambian troops.

He said the support rendered to the troops as they were preparing for the peacekeeping task in form of training and equipping them demonstrated the importance the American government attached to international peace and security.

And Army Commander Lieutenant General Paul Mihova said he was optimistic that the troops have met the required standard needed for them to operate in the fluid mission in the Central Africa Republic.

Lt. Gen Mihova explained that during the pre-deployment training, special emphasis was placed on the concept of operations and the MINUSCA mandate.

He advised the troops to maintain the highest standard and core military values of good discipline to safeguard and enhance the good image of the country’s defence force and the country at large.

  1. Most Zambian gay men are married to women just to hide their true sexual identity,
    – If women are banned or not Zambian married gay men will always hunt for other gays.
    – Heterosexual men will always cheat on their wives-
    – Some years back WHEN WOMEN WERE BANNED IN BARS …. most top hotels across the country like..Ridgeway, Pamodzi and Intercontinental Hotel bars was full of Zambian gay men looking for foreigners to sell their âsshôlês to!

  2. How many gays are in the Zambian Army?

    – Have you ever wondered why two men soldiers in uniform would walk hand in hand wearing BIG SMILES on their face????

  3. stupid people just concentrate on politics leave the military alone you don’t understand how they operate. concepts. are not politics and the military doesn’t deal with presenting manifestos but realistic of life. the Zambian grant soldiers have a huge task ahead and some of you are busy enjoying the peace because. of them though you’re busy not appreciating it. deal with your political opponents and stay away from military. issues you don’t even understand. the wars in Africa have a different twist and its all about asymmetric which you are not familiar with. if I were you I’ll not urge .

  4. What ever you call yourself”peace keeper of cowards”leave our good soldiers alone if u ar a politician this is not politics cheekala chawiso,nd these soldiers ar married they wil never be gay eediot *nyoko

    • Iwe kwindi, the fact remains that, some of your soldiers are gay and you dont want to face reality.

The mans sexuality should have no bearing on his job or his life. If any gay man was a life saving surgeon would anyone care that he is gay? Would you refuse treatment from him. No of course you wouldn’t. Wake up people it’s 2015

  5. Central African Republic is not child’s play. Ask the South African army and you will know that CAR is hell on earth. Good luck to the Zambian soldiers.
