The opposition UPND has announced plans of carrying out countrywide protests against government’s plan to table constitution amendments when Parliament resumes its sittings in June this year.

The UPND which has hinted on working with the civil society will commence its protests on the 14th of May this year.

UPND Lubwa Ward Youth Chairperson Chisankama Mudenda has disclosed to Qfm News in an interview that his party will be honking and wearing black attire during the protests.

Mr. Mudenda has explained that the protests are meant to express his party’s displeasure over the piecemeal constitution amendment path which the PF government has adamantly embarked on contrary to what the people of Zambia want that the country’s entire new constitution be adopted through a referendum.

Asked how long the protest will take and whether his party is optimistic it will succeed in this endeavor to pressure the PF government rescind its planed June constitution amendments, Mr. Mudenda has said the protests will take as long as the constitution is not adopted through a referendum.

He states that he is personally ready to have his blood spelt over his party’s quest that the people of Zambia have a new constitution which they themselves own and have participated in formulating.

UPND Lubwa Ward Youth Chairperson has particularly warned the PF government to be wary that if the resolve which his party made is not responded to in favor of the people of Zambia it will cause serious confusion in the country.

He says his party is more determined than ever before that the will and wishes of the people prevail over the enactment of their new supreme law.

And the Patriotic Front government has been reminded to realize that the solution to improving people’s lives still lies in dealing with the issue of enacting Zambia’s new constitution.

Government is being advised to hasten in providing direction and building consensus on the way forward with respect to ensuring that the country has a new constitution before the 2016 general elections in line with the people’s wishes and aspiration.

Aspiring Munali Member of Parliament Patrick Mungo says he agrees to the observation that a new constitution will change people’s lives politically, socially, economically and spirituality.

Mrs. Mungo has told Qfm News that it is for this reason that he thinks President Edgar Lungu should stick to his promise he made to the Zambian people that of delivering a people driven constitution before the 2016 general elections.

He says President Lungu should keep in mind that the people have not forgotten his promise.

  1. Oh dearest UPND! I see no reason for throwing tantrums in this regard, I too wish things were different but the current situation dictates for outside the box thinking…June amendments will give you 50+1… you should be celebrating! Isn’t this what you wanted? Never mind the financial repurcurssions, you are still hell bent on a referendum. And what is this careless talk about blood shed??? Guys, 2016 will go to the best person that Zambia chooses but with carelessly talk like this, I see you running even the little chance that you have! Change your narrative!

    • We don’t understand your agenda ba Upnd. Every elections we ‘ve been having in recent past have had voter aparthy and you also highlight this syndrome of voter aparthy. How are we going to have a new constitution of can’t beat the required numbers. Recent parliamentary elections voter aparthy was worse. We have said the clause which required 51% of registred voters will be dealt with next year during general elections.
No well meaning Zambian will back you on this confusion. Indeed it’s a party for under fives.

    • He is panting for his blood spill? He should ask nowhere as his Chief Illuminati is in the business of sacrificing souls. He must have already shortlisted him. Should Illuminati delay, criminals deliver his wish asap or let him line up before those Zulu retards under Zwilithini in Kwazulu kingdom.

    • can a constitution adopted through parliament still be called a people driven constitution?

    • Good lack with your protests…..I hear from tumfweko that our beloved president has lifted the wage freeze. Tiye tiye tiye EL,you’re a listening president indeed!

  2. This will be a lonely protest and why call them national wide when instead you should call them regional protest. Please change the style you do your politics and doing the same things every year in and out and expecting different results it does not make sense

  3. IF ECL was a pragmatic president he should hold a press conference explaining why his govt prefers a piece meal approach and all parliamentarians need to voice out for and against.my only worry is this approach ecl will use it in 2016 as having fullfiled his campaign promise and the referendum will not be held in 2016 presidential election, this may be his political game.

  4. Another nonsense from ing’ombe ilede(upnd) party!!just see the name(Mudenda-a tonga)of a guy making noise here!so this is regional party-period!!!I REPEAT,PF CAN DEVELOP SOUTHERN INTO USA TODAY AND GIVE THEM A NEW CONSTITUTION,FULFIL ALL PROMISES MADE TO THEM,BUT WHEN VOTING 99% TONGAS WOULD STILL VOTE FOR HH!!!thank God majority Zambians have seen how tribal these people are and cannot vote for HH in large numbers!!!2016 WILL BE LAST LOSS FOR HH AND PLEASE GOD MAKE THIS A REALITY SO THAT THIS TRIBAL MAN CAN RETIRE FROM POLITICS!!!

  5. As far as I am concerned and to best of my understanding, a new constitution remains a pipe-dream in Zambia. It will remain a campaign pledge ( bait) because of the fear of it’s repercussions. Unfortunately its the only way out once it is passed and honoured. Its roots are bitter but the fruits are very sweet to the public. Time and money will never be enough except for a serious government. For this, I support UPND to take whatever it costs to make it no longer a pledge but a reality.

  6. Indeed this is a underfive party how can a ward chairman be a party spokesperson sure heheheee!

  7. And let me remind you that this time around we won’t spare u with whatever nosense u are planning. We will meet u head on on the ground.Ututwine tu mabisi mulenwa natumitupika, you think u can bring this country to rassom.Go ahead if u think we are joking this time.

  8. @8 Chinondo: Ciarify please, what do you mean by “we “,and who are “you” to set record straight. Remember the freedom of expression still exists.

  9. This Protest Will Be Successfull In Southern Province. It Is Even Embarasing The Ward Chairman Is The Spokespeerson Of The Party. It Is True It Is The Party For Uinder Five Elements.

  10. Does it mean you cant win with current constitution? First UPND should respect their constitution before fighting for national constitution. How can we have one candidate for 20 years?

  11. Wonders shall never end! Kikikikiikiki! Oh my fat ass! what confusion can this NGO pndu cause in this country! Let them go ahead and see how fo.olish they will look! The problem with this NGO and its blind followers is that they bite more than they can chew!

  12. Hahahahahaha…..Kikikikikiki….kekekeke….cough cough cough….kikikikiki.
Look guys, let them be, maybe it will help them to judge whether they have the clout for 2016. We could do with one less aspirant for President of Zambia, especially those who just waste their time when it is clear to every sensible person that their names are not on God’s line up for President anytime soon.
