Police on Friday raided part of Galunia Farms in Mutumbi area of Lusaka, where suspected political cadres were illegally allocating land.

Lusaka Police commanding officer Charity Katanga said police, who are on the ground patrolling the area, have so far arrested 23 people, among them 18 males.
She said the arrested will be screened and those found wanting will be charged for criminal trespass.

Police surrounded the area blocking out cadres, who have also illegally occupied the land.

Wheelbarrows, axes and bull dozers were also confisticated by the police.

An eye-witness said police fought running battles with the cadres, who were overpowered and forced to scamper and desert the place.

An on-the-spot check yesterday found police officers in riot gear patrolling the area while others were staked out at an illegally built house which has been constructed up to roof level.

An officer said some illegal land owners ran amok after the place was raided.

“The people have gone into hiding in Kamanga area,” he said.

But this action has not been taken lightly by the Patriotic Front party secretary general Davies Chama who talked tough condemning the rise in illegal land allocation around the country.

Mr Chama observed that a lot of people who have been allocating land illegally in Mutumbi and other surrounding areas have been masquerading as PF cadres.
In an interview Mr Chama said his party is aware of unscrupulous people who are using the party’s name to tarnish its image.

Mr Chama said illegal allocation of land will not be tolerated, and warned that anyone found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

“It is unfortunate to see people masquerading as PF officials in this scam. No cadre will be spared once found wanting,” he said.

    • malikopo,if you feel your time is being waisted dont just blog,go where you belong on the dog watch, the party is trying to contain stupidity and to you its a waist of time..just commend.

  1. How unfortunate is it if by becoming a cadre of the ruling party you qualify to own public property? The lives of the future generations is at stake. Bwana Chama this leaves a lot to be desired.

  2. These are not PF caders but thugs who just use the name of PF to committee crimes. These are the same people that used to work with William Banda under MMD.

  3. Whether PF or UPND this cadre crap must stop.
The general public is sick and tired with the impunity of cadres. They are above the law. From the MMD days, cadres have taken over the looting of bus stop revenue, market fees, rentals at markets such as Soweto. LCC is therefore bankrupt and cannot perform. In return they help their parties mobilise rallies, terrorise the public, and arrange airport greeting mobs. Law must prevail against these goons.

Many of these land thieves have nothing to do with PF and the PF has done well not to condone this behaviour. Even at Trishul Farm invasion the govt moved in with force. Well done

  4. conGratulations the PF for this quick action and an example of what will happen to anybody that will try to misbehave regarding land allocations..Good leadership comprises of such actions of disipline.

  5. It is sad what is happening in the country were we see cadres trying to take over the allocation of land in the country.
But who should we blame in this whole thing, illegal land allocation?
Cadres or those tasked to legally alianate(allocate) land ie Ministry of Lands and or Councils and to some extent traditional leaders.
Here am not supporting cadres but I’ve got a simple question for all Zambians politicians and law enforcers inclusive.
How many pipo who apply genuinly and have got no conections obtain land? Take a survey ask ordinary pipo who own pieces of land how they acquired their land. The answer one gets is that they bought from someone.
But who is that someone and how did they acquire that land? And we are told land is free who is selling it?

  6. Did they arrest Mulenga Sata? If their claims are correct then Mulenga is the first one on the list. PF party are real danda-heads!
