Zesco United visit Nakambala eyeing top spot

Share

Defending champions Zesco United look set to go top of the FAZ Super Division table on Wednesday as they visit strugggling Nakambala Leopards at Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka.

Second placed Zesco could join leaders Zanaco at the summit of the table with victory in this rescheduled Week 3 game.

Zesco have 14 points, three behind Zanaco, and therefore must win by at least four goals to supplant the Bankers from the top on goal-difference.

George Lwandamina’s side, who have not been good travellers this season, must be at their best to prevent bottom placed Nakambala from recording their first win of the season.

Zesco had dropped points at Nkana and Green Buffaloes prior to beating Konkola Blades 1-0 in Chingola last Saturday.

As for Nakambala, they are coming from a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Zanaco.

A win for the Mazabuka club would lift them from the bottom into 14th place.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Power Dynamos take on Green Buffaloes at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka hoping to end their three-game winless streak.

The Tenant Chilumba coached Kitwe side have picked just one point from their last three games in which they been defeated twice.

Power are fifth on the table with 10 points while Wedson Nyirenda’s Buffaloes have eight points from six games.

The Arthur Davies outfit visits Buffaloes wounded after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Nkana in the big Kitwe derby in Wusakile.

“It is a must win game for us after losing points in our last three games,” Power left winger Kelvin Mubanga said.

A victory on Wednesday can move Power from fifth into third position while Buffaloes have a chance to march into eigth place should they win.

Meanwhile, Power welcomes back striker Jimmy Ndhlovu who missed the Kitwe derby against his parent club Nkana owing to a clause in his loan deal.

Ndhlovu has scored four goals from five league games.
