Namibia sends Zambia packing from Cosafa Cup in humilliating fashion

Share

Holders Zambia suffered a humiliating early exit from the 2015 Cosafa Castle Cup after losing to Namibia 5-4 on penalties following a goalless 90 minutes in the first quarterfinal tie at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa on Sunday.

This was Zambia’s first loss to Namibia in the history of the Cosafa Cup.

A star-studded Zambia side that paraded five foreign based players in their best eleven found the Brave Warriors a hard nut to crack in regulation time before the game was decided on penalties.

Israel based defender Emmanuel Mbola sent his spot kick over the bar as Namibia converted all their penalties through Henrich Isaacks, Willy Stephanus, Willem Mwendihanga, Chris Keijijere and Deon Hotto to march to the semifinals.

Kennedy Mweene, Aaron Katebe, Jimmy Ndhlovu and Kondwani Mtonga converted for Zambia.

It was a game of few scoring opportunities for both sides in which goalkeepers were rarely tested.

This defeat has ended Zambia’s quest for an unprecedented fifth Cosafa Cup title.

    • Are we failing to REALISES that Kalusha, Janza and Mweene have outlived their usefulness in Zambian soccer? We must learn to keep past glory to where it belongs – The Past, and move on with business….

In a very long time haven’t seen a Zambia side that dictates terms on the pitch. Janza’s team can’t put up a string of 6 passes without losing the ball, accuracy of passing stands at zero and those that we call strikers can’t strike the target. Let’s clean our soccer from management to coaching, before we become the worst team in Southern Africa – that’s where we’re heading…

    • That Janza should just resign on his own.
Looking at the starting line-up, it is clear Janza was reserving good players for the finals.

  1. Those are tongas for u Zambians!!!they cry to be put in leadership when they’ve no experience!!!this can be the same with HH!!he has never governed but busy crying for the presidency!!!NOW TRIBAL HH SEE HOW YOUR JANZA HAS FAILED MAJORITY ZAMBIANS AS A COACH-AMAZING!!!

  2. Surely when I tell you that Zambia is going NOWHERE under the greedy corrupt visionless empty suits at Football House, you think its being negative…ask the Galu what FAZ’s mission statement is?
FAZ is only a gravy train for these thieves…hence the reason why they are unable to bring in competent honest people.

    • shut up ka jay jay naiwe! you vilified HR day and night now see where your kachema tribesman is taking us. Dont blame kalu , he has given chance to this clueless kachema coach (Dishonour Janza) … why blame kalu just blame ukuchema.

Dishonour janza is the most incompetent clueless coach on the planet, yet petty minded pipo like ka jay jay cant see that. Kalu fire Dishonour today and now.

  3. and Janza says its a learning point for zambia not to waste their chances. can this honestly be the best learning point from a national coach? Kalusha was just good as a striker. I have always agreed with jay jay that nothing good can come out of this FAZ other than the fluke AFCON.

    • Why are you blaming Kalusha. Is he the coach? Blame that useless coach of yours. Kalu is an administrator.

  4. Kikikiki…Zambian mindset. They always want to win even when they know that failure lurks in every sphere of their lives,be it on a political scene or boringly still,on all sport disciplines. Everything seem so frustrating & one shudders to think of how rotten our system of doing things has terribly deteriorated to a level where even the worst can be said to be leaders on both sport & political affiliations…what a land to belong to!

    • We don’t have just a Team and I don’t agree with you that the 2012 Afcon we won was a fluke. The team that won the Afcon was started by Kalu, Chris katongo is my witness. That team in 2010 in Angola lost to Egypt on penalties at Quarter final stage but Egypt went on to lift the Cup. The difference between that team and this one is because the later is like a chameleon. Faces in the team doesn’t cease to change while other stayed together for a long time. In short there is no hope in the current team. Let us invest so much in the youth because its so disheartening to see this kind of quality when good stadia are emerging.

  5. Ati ba coach! Losing to Namibia of all teams! Watching that game one could see that all the games Zambia has won under Janza and they are very few of them were because of the players not the coach. Today there was no counter strategy to what Namibia was doing. Chipolopolo were told to just kick the ball in front

  6. But do you have the quality of players to bring glory to Zambia or you are still politicising football on tribal lines! Consider you quality you put on the ground & complain thereafter-dull backward bloggers-shaaa-zwaaaa!

  7. Glad we lost, and I pray we continue losing by GOD’s grace, cause we learn the harder way, football is dead in Zambia, from administration to coach to players to football pitchies to bitchies

  8. Janza must go now. He has reduced chipolopolo to nonentity in circles of soccer. Yet he’s still want to a contract. Thanks to Kalu for not granting him a contract.

Janza should keep his class B Fifa coaching certificate in archives for his future reference. He should now start looking for a local club to exercise his class B since the national team is TOO BIG for him.

Way forward for our national team is a local coach like George Chicken Lwanamina, Lusaka Dynamos coach, Manfred Chabinga, Simukonda.

Janza must go and away from FAZ. He has been a let down for too long.

Let start AFCON with a new local coach.

  9. Janza is a complete basket case. How do you start with a line up you are not sure of? Only to change it before half time? WTFF! Awe, lets surely try some other sporting disciplines. Soccer yatu shupa baad! I wont even start of Kalu.
