The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka says the nation awaits the truth from the Mutembo Nchito tribunal.

PF Vice Media Director Sunday Chanda says no one should interfere with the proceedings of the tribunal.

Mr Chanda, who was flanked by Human Rights Defender and Governance Expert Ngande Mwanajiti was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today.

Mr Chanda, the former Open Society Foundation Executive Director, said the position of Government is to know the truth without interference from anyone or any corporate entity.

He accused Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali of being used by the ‘PF cartel’ to ridicule proceedings of the tribunal probing the suspended DPP.

He said the tribunal consists of honourable justices with vast experience and knowledge on law and justice therefore saying Mr Tayali should shut up and stop commenting on the tribunal pending its outcome.

“It’s a hand of the cartel but using the voice of Tayali. The position of PF is to establish the truth and no one should interfere in the works of the Nchito tribunal,” Mr. Chanda said.

In March this year, President Edgar Lungu appointed the Annel Silungwe tribunal to enquire into the alleged misconduct and alleged acts of impropriety by suspended Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. Mutembo Nchito, as provided for under Article 58, sub-article (2) and (3) of the Constitution of Zambia.

And Human Rights Defender and Governance Expert Ngande Mwanajiti urged government to adhere to its promise of enacting a people driven constitution and not ‘abandon’ the process.

Mr Mwanajiti expressed fear that parliament might allegedly shoot down the contentious issues in the constitution.

He said the people of Zambia have ‘appetite’ to have the document of the soil to achieve sustainable national development.

On the Nchito tribunal, Mr Mwanajiti said law must be followed at all times because Zambia is guided by the rule of law principle and no-one is above the law.

    • Sunday chanda has now been turned into a rabid dog, barking at every statement given by divergent views.

The truth of the matter is that; Sunday Chanda’s support for Lungu is a plastic one. He was the first PF official to go HH’s resident to congratulate him during the 20th Presidential Results announcements.

But now he is now pretending to be working with Edgar Lungu when in the actual sense, he is 80% against him.

Watch the space, as soon as the PF and Edgar Lungu loses next year, Sunday Chanda will be the first PF official to resign and join the UPNDs

Edgar Lungu can do better to distance himself from sch characters just as he did with Emmanuel Mwamba.

Sunday Chanda is capable of poisoning Presient Lungu, he is a very dangerous man who should not be allowed to come…

    • @ Hildah, I 100% agree with you. Brian Hapunda is a moron and I don’t know which word best describes Sunday Chanda who is a deputy to Brian. I think it is the lowest of places to be, a deputy to a Brian.

    • Is this a PF party tribunal a government tribunal? Why is Sunday Chanda commenting and advising the public in his capacity as a PF cadre?

  1. One doesn’t need a rocket scientist to figure out the outcome of this bogus tribunal that has been orchestrated by lungu & his minions bent on only wanting to see nchito out of their way of setting banda free.shameless people!

    • @kaddaffi do you think nchito is clean?only someone insane would think nchito’s conduct was right

    • Whether Nchito is clean or not, it’s the motive behind the tribunal that’s wrong. Everyone knows this tribunal is driven to get RB free from his court trial because Nchito is after RB on corruption charges. Remember RB sponsored Lungu during the elections.

  2. Tayali is a F00l. He was pushing to be joined to the DBZ action not long ago and was speaking against Mutembo not long ago…what has changed?

    • @ f00l Kachema

Have you heard of something called “Rules of Natural Justice”?
Once you understand that, you will also understand Mr. Tayali comment.

    • Now on issues concerning the Professor DPP Mutembo Nchito, I think i have said this more than 100 times and my stance remains the same.

Mutembo Nchito is 100% innocent than the Corrupt and Human Eater Edgar Lungu and Rupiah Banda.

Whatever happens, Edgar Lungu’s immunity will be removed next year and will be jointly charged together with Rupiah Banda and allow him to drink beer in prison {Chimbokaila} and when beer runs out, he will have to drink alot of water and drink his own urine since his urine i understand is full of alcohol and a single glass of lungu’s urine is enough to make 100 people drunk for 48 hours.

Lungu has been drinking beer since he was five years old.

Mutembo Nchito should not be persecuted by Edgar Lungu and Rupiah Banda.

    • Hildah Malamah, you started so well but your bitterness or your emotion has cost your comment. If you do not control your bitterness or emotions will cost your life in many areas of your life. You may not what to hear this, but is the truth. I do not agree how the tribunal is being conducted and some individuals on the tribunal are corrupt. Having said that I would not sink too low to insult and call names of the president and wish him bad things to happen to him after he has left the office. All We want is for the tribunal to be fair and honesty in conduct. It is a well known fact if the government wants Nchito to be guilty, he will be found guilty. What do we do when things are not going right? We can only pray to God to bring out the truth and we can take about injustice being done.

    • @ SEE

Whilst I fully agree with your statement about emotions, I am in disagreement with your “solution” about praying instead of exercising your democratic right and voting out perpetrators of injustice.

  5. Only a mad person would say Nchito is clean we all know what he has been upto over the years I know person who died because him when they took over that airline the late was one of the major share holders this guy has no pity for anyone let him be sorted out.

    • A lot of people say, think and know that Nchito is clean and unless you have come up with a new technical definition of madness, they don’t seem at all mad to me. These sweeping unsupported statements you folks make just show how limited your mental faculties are and they won’t win you anything other than to make you look all so obviously cadreish, politicial lunatics who have carved your lives living off corruption at the expense of the poor zambians. F00lishly and without you realising every one such comment you make reviews your moral bankruptcy.

    • If you’re a brave man & know the bad things Nchito has done report him to the authority for the benefit of the nation rather than re-producing hearsay reports you have heard from the person who was involved (one sided) or from hearsay. Your talk is cheap and not in righteousness. Neither do I say Nchito is innocent or corrupt. We’re not moved by big names of honorable and highly qualified and experienced former Chief Justices who have compromise with corruption or ethics of conduct to be part of the tribunal. Because they have not repented and shown remorse publicly what they did. And have preferred to hold the tribunal in camera to protect interest of unrighteousness pretending to be protecting witnesses and concealing instructions to Nchito, from the past president & PF government.

    • Oh Ba Lungu. So you KNOW that Mutembo is guilty? So why don’t you take the matter to court? And if you KNOW that he is guilty, then why are you afraid of AN OPEN TRIBUNAL? It should be easy to show to the whole world that he is guilty! What do you have to hide?
So, your logic tells you that the guilty man wants an open tribunal and those with nothing to hide want a secret tribunal? Does that make sense?

  6. @Hilda

Who has been writing those comments for. I still can’t believe it’s yu. Insults were composed by yu while grammar was done by someone else. An illiterate @Hilda is now iimproving to write if only you can edit insults yu will be at our level of blogging . otherwise whatever comments You ‘ve posted is under 5 material. The way you comment is how we think yo super hero HH thinks

  7. I hope Nchito sings like a canary and reveals all. i am sure that s why the secracy, he knows too much.

  8. It is clear that the PF are paying the piper. THIS IS RUPHIA BANDAS WAR. I never cared much for Nchito but now he is my hero. It takes courage an principles to stand agains the machinery of the state being used to persecute him. I hope one-day Nchito can aspire for higher office. ABASH POLITICAL PERSECUTION! ABASH.
    VIVA JUSTICE FOR ALL! VIVA

  9. Whether Mutembo is clean or not is besides the point. What we want is the tribunal is to be fair and not use questinnable characters in the name of Chief Justices. Surely people should be able to see the motive behind the tribunal instead of barking aimlessly like Sunday and his cohorts. Mutembo has gone to court and I believe Tayali is willing to testify to matters he knows. If Chanda and his cohorts have anything to say, let them go and testify as well-simply that instead of barking unnecesarily-period.

  10. @mabvuto. You are very RIGHT! Besides why hold the hearings in secret? Nchito the accused is willing to publicly defend himself. This young man is a crusader of justice. Despite his own shortcomings.NCHITO FOR JUSTICE!

  11. The PF cartel could turn out to be the true PF. Chanda and Mwanajiti are opportunists and infiltrators in PF/

  12. Mr. Sunday Chanda,
Before you make your usual statement “by the 1diot, for the 1diots”, can you refresh your and Human Rights Defender and Governance Expert (LOL) Mr. Ngande Mwanajiti knowledge regarding the RULES OF NATURAL JUSTICE.
I do apreciate that in “one party state” such rules are discarded as irrelevant, but until PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA decide otherwise, you and your friends and associates are subject to such rules.
The only DIRECT INTERFERENCE in the proceedings of “Nchito Tribunal” to date have origin in your party

    • As to Mr. Ngande Mwanajiti “expertise” in Human Rights and Good Governance, his presence in your company indicates that such “expertise” is equivalent to yours “democratic” credentials. Absolute zero.

  13. Only those with dishonest motives will agree with Nchito delaying tactics. A precedent instigated by Nchito and Mmembe themselves is there of holding tribunal of DPP in camera. The duo advanced same reasons being used in Nchito case to handled in camera. This selfish thinking of KANO NI FWEBO is what is at play here not defending the will of justice. Mmembe is battling for survival as he has no control of state power. His manipulations are over and this the twisting of things we are seeing. But it will not help. Tribunal will conclude. His delaying tactics are doing more harm than good to him

    • Except when Sata came to power, Mmembe has always used the power of the pen, which he still controls in no minor way.
