As FIFA delegates gather in Zurich to elect the new head of the world football governing body, Zambian football administrator Simataa Simataa is appealing to delegates to vote out Sepp Blatter.

Simataa, a former FAZ President said Blatter should be voted out because he has failed to follow the FIFA constitution and football rules in running FIFA affairs.

‘Firstly, he has done his part, leadership is about a relay, let him hand over the baton to somebody else,’ Simataa told the BBC News Day radio program.

He also charged that Blatter has presided over a FIFA administration that has been very tolerant to African football associations that have breached their own rules.

‘Whenever an African FA has breached certain rules, they have rushed to Zurich for protection even when their own government have tried to investigate the FA, the government’s are warned that they will be thrown out of the World Cup qualifiers,’ he said.

‘I personally had an encounter with him when we took the matter of the Kalusha Bwalya executive over serious FAZ constitutional breaches and I was very very disappointed how he completely threw out the constitution.’

He added, ‘When we go into Zurich, we were given an impression that the constitution does not matter.’

On sentiments that Blatter has delivered on his promise of developing football in Africa, Simataa said it is incorrect to singlehandedly attribute all the help that African football associations to Blatter.

‘I wouldn’t totally agree with that, moist of the things have been done using FIFA money but the perception is that it is Sepp Blatter money. These projects should be done anyway, whether there is Blatter or not,’ Mr Simataa said.

He added, ‘I would say to them, let us thank Blatter for his time and for fulfilling his promises but let us move ahead. It is a bit more than just projects, it’s about constitutions, it is about rules, it’s about ethics and all these have declined under the leadership of Sepp Blatter.’

Simataa said most of Africa is now demanding accountability and accountability which have not been seen in football.

  1. lets hear what one Kalu will say. i hear he subcontracts his wife to maintain Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, apart from behaving like a management employee of FAZ instead of governance head

  2. Bo Simata, you did not tell us the whole truth of what happened when you and Kamanga rushed to FIFA to report Kalu.
From what you said I can clearly deduce that you were kicked out for not following procedure or the constitution as well. Now how different are you from him?
I clearly conquer with you though that Sepp has over stayed at the helm of world football.
I hope Kalu has learned from this as well otherwise he is going to be kicked out like a fool too.

  3. Voice of a disgruntled man. Simataaa was bitter when we won the AFCON, how strange. Speaking very authoritatively even on interviews, but blank. Poor track record as well. Repent.

  4. Simataa can express his opinion on Sepp Blater but what influence has he got to call for the removal of Sepp Blater?

    • Ask BBC, the news makers if Simataa’s voice does not matter in the football world.

If his opinion is inconsequential, they might as well have interviewed you or me or some people at some market somewhere.

    • @Gundixy BBC is looking for anyone who can attack Blatter. The whole of Britain has been angry over Russia winning the World Cup so they are doing everytrhing possible to discredit Blatter.

  5. Uyu chi colour thinks his poverty and low life is as a result of Great Kalu. Kashinde ulenunka amafi

  6. Simataa has failed to deal with Kalu. The issue of removing blatter should start with removing his corrupt boys first.

  7. We doomed in as ZAMBIAN soccer is concerned. All the thieves from Africa have vowed to retain Blatter and for obvious reason : he will condone their stealing!

  8. But Zambia won nothing during Simaataaa’s time at FAZ. The Man should reduce on talking and concentrate on delivering results. He has some good brains which he has decided to abuse by concentrating on quarrelling

  9. Fifa is rotten and stinking to the core…and thank god its the Fed’s investigating them as they have no interests in football and they will treat them like any other criminal organisation…it disgraceful that they Africans are forever thankful to these thugs for the projects; that money Fifa is splashing about is from sponsors who are funded from us the consumers.

  10. Aluyeni bo Simataa. Let us grow Zambian football that has stagnated after we lost the Africa Cup in just 9 months.

  11. I totally agree with Simataa on this one. Yes Blatter has done good things to African football but it doesn’t mean that he’s wamuyaya neither is he the only person who can do good. Can someone tell me what could have stopped another person building FAZ house in Lusaka? After all its FIFA money most of which comes from developed countries who now want him to quit for allowing corruption to thrive under his watch. Of course I wont be surprised if Blatter retains his seat with the support of Africa because its typical of us. Dangle a packet of sweets before an African and he is ready to kill his own mother without even thinking and Blatter knows this mentality. Africans have been stripped of brains, respect and dignity because of supporting corrupt leaderships. Africans wake up please.

    • You are absolutely spot on…this is “Poor lazy man” mindset..this is why the likes of Galu eat like FAZ is his family business because he was a great footballer and we owe him. My skin cringed when I saw those African FA officials backing Blatter on CNN and BBC just because he had brought them projects; don’t they know that its what FIFA’s role is…in reality its the fat brown envelopes that they are really thankful for.

  12. Stomata or simataa is bitter that he can not dip his hands in a pot of honey. He was once involved with FAZ and things did not go well. He is also a corrupt guy. Kalu can be corrupt but he has done well spearheading the whole organization. Concentrate on managing your team MR.
