VEEP urges Zambians living in Nigeria to invest back Home

Share

Vice President Inonge Wina has called on Zambians based in Nigeria to work hard and consider investing back home.

The Vice President says Zambians living in Nigeria should take a leaf from Nigerians living and working in other countries who have not only invested in foreign countries they are based but also in their own country.

Mrs. Wina encouraged Zambians to be entrepreneurial and find ways of making money to invest in the diaspora and in their own country Zambia.

The Vice President was speaking at Zambia’s High Commissioner’s residence today in Abuja when she addressed Zambians living in Nigeria at a luncheon hosted in her honour.

Mrs. Wina told Zambians here that President Lungu is running the affairs of the country properly and that he is determined to deliver the constitution to the people of Zambia in quickest possible time in a cost effective way.

She further explained that President Lungu has continued with the infrastructure development programmes, women empowerment and industrialization programs aimed at uplifting the lives of all citizens.

She said Zambians leaving in Nigeria will be welcome to invest in any sector in their country.

And a representing of Zambians leaving in Nigeria Dennis Zulu thanked the Vice President for taking time to give them firsthand information on what was happening back home.

Mr. Zulu said Zambians leaving in Nigeria are delighted with the developments taking place back home.

Meanwhile Vice President Inonge Wina has left Nigeria for Zambia after witnessing the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari as President of that country.

Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria Maynard Misapa, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Embassy staff saw off the vice president at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 19:00 hours Nigerian time.

The Vice President who was accompanied by Minister in her office, Lazarus Chungu Bwalya is expected back home in Lusaka, Zambia today (Sunday).

    • This outing for Inonge was a flop, so many *****ic comments from the one we thought was wiser than Lungu.
why not ask Zambians to be investors in Nigeria. Zambian is far more developed than Nigeria.
It is better for her to tell Lozis in Lusaka to invest in Bartoseland.

  1. Give them land and they shall invest; prevent cadres from invading investors’ land; and remove cadres from land already on title.

  2. The same rubbish all the time from these empty tins…how do they know if they are not investing back home!!

  3. Very selfish. You same people say to foreign investors to invest in zambia at the same time you say to zambians investing in foreign lands to invest in zambia.

  4. Why is the govt so desperate to ask people living in diaspora to invest home every time they have a chance to meet them? Do these politicians think that diaspora people have got so much money money for investment or they do not know what to do with their perceived acquired money? This woman must stop opening her mouth because it seems she is just good at saying useless things and she is always off the track.

  5. Zambians in Nigeria? Aren’t these the same people this regime posted to the Zambian High Commission? Why would a Zambian find himself/herself in Nigeria of all places?

    • @Demand Cecil. ..

Like it or not Nigeria is now Africa’s biggest economy and not only that the cities are beautiful and the huge market absorbs any product/service of good quality. Ignorance is a curse. Open your eyes. Rwanda is also on the move while we Zambians concentrate on tribal politics and worshipping leaders. Keep on recycling ineffective civil servants and ancient diplomats rewarding them for their passivity. We’ll get no where. Cadres get positions for bootlicking while qualified Zambians are made to languish. God is seeing what you people are doing. MMD was doing the same and now they are back in full force as PF. Cry the beloved country.

    • Perhaps ambitious Zambians would find themselves in Nigeria because they recognize that Lagos and a number of Nigerian states on their own have larger economies than all of Zambia and plenty of opportunities for business people and can stand the heat from serious competition.

I do find it entertaining that many Zambians seem to have opinions about Nigeria and Nigerians. You don’t realize that it demonstrates that Nigeria matters and is relevant enough for you to have an opinion, whether good or bad about. I challenge a Zambian media house to go ask Nigerians what they think about Zambia in non-footballing context – it’ll reveal just how irrelevant your country is to people you’ve chosen to dislike. In fact, check how many times Zambia is mentioned on Nigerian websites. NIGERIA…

  6. Give dual citizenship as many progressive economies have done. Many Zambians abroad will freely borrow cheaply in second countries and invest in Zambia. That is just a tip regarding the benefits of dual citizenship to those who chose it. Never mind if you as an individeal do not want to. That should not be your reason to oppose it. What will you lose if Mr b chosen to have two passports and you do not. Your leaders continue to use foreign health and education services. Do you not wonder why. And you continue to be jealous. The biggest economy in the world has the most diverse population.

  7. When will we have dual nationality? The Nigerians diaspora that you refer to have dual-nationality and this gives them security of their investment in their home country. Fast-track this important requirement first, then we can discuss investment in Zambia. Don’t just be interested in the monies that we make. We have children with foreign spouses and these are the first priority beneficiaries of our hard-earned dollars and euros. The current Zambian law discriminates against our children and yet you want their money? It’s time you started addressing these issues with long, serious and thorough thought. We are not fools!

  9. A prophet will never be accepted at his own home!!! Zambians are equally all over too, nothing wrong them being there

  10. Auntie Inonge,

Are Zambians in the Diaspora not mature enough to decide where to invest their hard-earned resources?
Secondly, auntie ask yourself why some are reluctant to invest back home, is it not because of your unstable, unreliable and confused PF policies?
Please auntie, concentrate on more pressing issues like the diabolic load-shedding, the sick Kwacha and the cost of living.

  11. Why tell lies just because you find yourself in Nigeria? Invest back home the atmosphere is so uncertain. Fimo muleibwalamo
