  1. NOT AN INSULT AT ALL; but why is it that if a private vehicle involved in an accident its most likely a show room , Toyata Hilux, Ford Ranger or NISsan Hard body new car?????,,,,,, very few DOT Com corolla have killed people despite being almost 40% in zambia

    • Simple.

People who drive these cars think they own the road and drive them so fast and reckless……!!

Government vehicles rarely do checks on their vehicles…. I’ve noticed a number of them with finished tyres…..!!

  2. Stop and Think, 90 percent of road accidents are attributed to driver error. Road accidents simply do not happen by chance, they are the direct consequence of unsafe driving.

  3. This tragic accident reflects badly on the transport minister quoted last week to want to limit of age of imported cars.
There so many factors which are wrong with our transport sector. It’s sad that a minister can shallow assumption that the older cars are generally responsible for most of the accidents.
To work for Ratsa you have to be related to a politician. Corruption hides the ineptitude of what is wrong with the system. There’s also the jevic issue coined to enrich someone.
I have been inspecting cars in Europe for last 8 years. I know Zambian transport system failures which are very basic. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to find a way to render advice. You don’t need colourful qualifications to correct the wrongs neither do you need investors! The bug stops with system.

  4. Mhsrip but too many errors ba lusaka times.an senior accountant?,along 10:00 hrs? Chisungu cha kwisa icho kanshi?

  5. Yes you can control the vehicle even after a tyre burst, whats killing most of drivers is high speed,u can even tell from from the damage that he was speeding. MHSRIP

    • GRZ drivers are careless, and they rarely do pre checks on the cars before driving long distance routes…..

  6. Every weekend I drive to either Ndola or Solwezi. 70% of all vehicles that overtake me are GRZ. These vehicles cruise at extremely high speed.

From the look of things, this vehicle was flying. It is surprising that the police are covering up a wrong.

I cannot even see a flat tyre from the pictures shown. Moreover, tubeless tyres can be controlled after a tyre burst.

  7. Condolences to the family of our deceased compatriot. The report is silent on the condition of the other passeners and the driver. How are they?

  8. My condolences to the family. Let us get ready always for we dont know when death will strike! We dont know what will take your life.

  9. @Jason Nyerenda, in order to effectively and safely control our vehicles we first need to understand that each vehicle has a specific characteristic that is unique to that particular vehicle. The vehicles capabilities and limitations vary according to various factors.
    1. Balance and centre of gravity
    2. Drivetrain
    3. Rated output and performance
    4. Load capacity
    5. Safety features, the importance of good tyres and correct tyre pressure cannot be over emphasized.

Under acceleration there is a force or weight transfer that takes place and this transfer will alter the distribution of the weight between the vehicles front and rear wheels.
When the vehicle accelerates the weight is lifted from the front axle and pushed down onto the rear axle and this will alter the amount of grip.

  10. Even the tyres you guys are using are NOT the type tyres for such vehicles. If you read that Vehicle’s manual on tyres recommended, you will find they use wrong types of tyres because they were cheap.

Remember always CHEAP is expensive and there you are, can replace the life of that poor soul and bread-winner Ngoma? The answer is NO, you can only replace tyres and perhaps the car.

  11. @PIO please don’t show your ignorance by writing technical information that you dont even understand. You are not even a mechanical engineer let alone a mechanic, i know you as a PF cadre who just make noise for the mileage of PF leaders. Lets be remorsful we lost a brother , i expect condolences messages here mwamvela a simvwa imwe, one can even see kuti muli lopolopo!!

  12. @Chatasha,
It’s not pointing fingers. The fact that a life has been lost does not mean we fold our arms and shy away from discussion the possible cause. We have to educate others (those of us still alive) to take necessary precautions on the road, to check our speed, make sure vehicles are roadworthy, etc. Besides it’s not the deceased who was driving this vehicle, so we’re not disrespecting him in any way and by the way the driver is still alive and he needs to be questioned.

  13. You really a good mentor who will be missed by the accountants in the ministry of health both at districts and national l level.I learnt a lot from you for 11 years I worked with you at hospital, district and provincial levels. may your soul rest in peace. the government has lost a true accountant.

  14. Such a sad loss

    I have shed a tear
    Such needless loss
    God & the devil
    How can you so careless?
May the poor man’s soul rest in peace
    and I weep
    for the dead

  15. Rest in eternal peace BEN my friend of way back at Petauke Secondary School.I was JUST thinking of giving you a call after a long time only to hear of your demise through Joseph Mumbi Phiri. SAD INDEED TO myself and my family.
