Kamanga: Blatter’s resignation is a sign of the times

Share

Football administrator Andrew Kamanga says FIFA president Sepp Blatter’s resignation could have strong ramifications in his strongholds around the globe that are also facing issues of transparency credibility.

Blatter on Tuesday announced that he was stepping down just five days after his heated re-election in the midst of a corruption scandal that has hit FIFA that has opened criminal investigations in the USA.

The fallen FIFA strongman had called for an extra-ordinary congress to be held in the next six months to elect a new leader.

Kamanga said Blatter’s departure was long overdue.

“His resignation is a breath of fresh air as the corruption allegations levelled were serious and he failed to take responsibility as the leader,” Kamanga said in an exclusive interview with LT Sport on Wednesday.

“FIFA now needs new leadership to restore the lost credibility and hopefully become transparent in its dealings.”

Kamanga added that Blatter’s departure had most importantly opened the floodgates for a stakeholders right to have a stronger say and scrutinise how their money is managed and spent in FIFA’s respective constituencies.

“There is no doubt that the happenings at FIFA have a striking resemblance to our local situation,” Kamanga said.

“If we are to restore confidence in our local game we need new visionary leadership to take our football to a higher level.

“Like FIFA, FAZ has not been transparent on a number of issues such as SuperSport sponsorship, match appearance fees for international games, gate takings from all international games and the total collapse of the Secretariat.”

    • Its time to kick out Galu and his gang of thieves. Mumbwe kulila ninshi pali uko ashntilite amatako. Now twalamona uko Galu alashintilila amatako.

    • @Mushota, yes tell him, not just to go away, but squeeze Kamanga’s balls too.
Blatter is not the one who trained Kalusha how to play football. Let Kalusha continue in his field. Good farm workers makes best farm managers.

    • Kamanga is a failure he failed to run kabwe warriors and he thinks he can run FAZ him and Simata Simata that is why the are where they are today if we talk about fresh ideas in FAZ Simata Simata and kamanga count yourselves out

  1. This is good for Football.Kalu is another culprit and we need ACC to sweep FAZ house and bring sanity to Football in Zambia. Its long over due. They have turned FAZ into a money laundering den.FAZ AGM now appears to be like a PF convention with tight security and cadres with machetes’ every were.Football is no longer a happy game were delegates mingle freely and share ideas. Its all about Kalu and his thugs.

    • FIFA is disorganized a lot due to poor & corrupt leadership. Blatter had to go! It was folly for him to hang on in the midst of such accusations. He has nowhere to run to. America is a super power & football administrators cannot intimidate them. I mean if those arrests were made in Zambia against FAZ officials even with clear evidence FIFA wud threat Zambia with sanctions. I was expecting the same against America. But that was not to be esp even his own country Switzerland & EUFA are involved. In fact Michel Platini threatened to pull EUFA out of 2018 World Cup. Where wud this hav left FIFA without European & American money. I mean European & American companies like Coca Cola, McDonalds, Adidas, Nike etc. are major sponsors. So he just had to go whether on his terms (he cud hav…

    • So he just had to go whether on his terms (he cud hav negotiated his exit) or not.
FBI invistigations will review more shoddy dealings. Danny Jordan who has a bone to chew with FIFA & Kalu when he lost to Kalu gave the last straw for Blatter to resign. He confirmed South Africa bribed FIFA ($10m) & Jerome Valke was aware. It has always been my hope to form another transparent world football organization. Now that the buffoon is leaving may be there is a better chance for reformation i.e. improved complete overhaul.
What used to puzzle me most was when football associations failed to raise funds for tournaments and governments come in to help. But when funds are clearly stolen the same governments cannot prosecute football officials. If it did the country wud be suspended. It meant…

    • But when funds are clearly stolen the same governments cannot prosecute football officials. If it did the country wud be suspended. It meant fund us but don’t question how we misuse your funds. This is stupidity. Funders have every right to question how their monies have been spent. Even Brian Hapunda had to account & disclose how Mahtani’s money was used.

  2. Blatter was trying to be difficulty for nothing…….Can you fight the Americans alone Iwe mudala? Mc Donald, Coca Cola and many other FIFA sponsors have their roots in America and hence the Involvement of the American investigators. I am sure ba Kalu must be shaking right now since the God father might spill all the bean!!

  3. ati his corrupt simply because the media says so and not the courts of law. Blatter has been on fire simply because he believed that FIFA was not just meant for the westerners alone, Its simple England and USA wanted to stage the World cup and they lost the bid. In 2010 when the world cup bids went in favour of Africa, they said africa was a bush and we cant take the world cup their. Next world cup will be in Rusia and the other one in Qater. The western media and official have since then been bitter bearing in mind things are not falling there way as always. Its very emarrasing to call a person like Kamanga as football administrator. The man has been failing left right n centre and yet he has the nerve to condemn people who has added meaningful achievements. Kabwe Warrios and Power fail

    • @ NICOBLEZZ

Why are you such uneducated jerk?
Read the facts before making racist comment.
      Where has gone FIFA money?
In so far, between Brazilian authorities and USA authorities they have recovered +/- USD 320 Million, two people have already plead guilty and you jackass are making it race issue.

    • Danny Jordan, has agreed US$10m was given to CONCAF for Diaspora Legacy and the money was to be administered directly by the then FIFA Vice =president.SAFA wrote a letter to Jerome Valcke that FIFA should pay SAFA US$10m instead of US$100m .No racism here, just pain bribery by SAFA to buy votes.
In fact the first guy to be cornered is a Brazilian who in turn spilled the beans and mentioned names, including Blatter.

  5. Don’t trust everything just because you have heard FBI the these same investigator once upon a time accused Iraq of having nuclear weapons they went in there devastated the country did the find the weapons no. To date Iraq has not recovered i hope FIFA will not crumble never to recover.

  6. CAFs Issa Ayatou is another scum bug that must go. Zambia has plenty of talent but due to mismanagement by the FIFA protected untouchable FAZ we have become a laughing stock in the World of football. It happened in Ghana when officials were expelled by government for failing to account for money spent during the 2014 World Cup. The FA was suspended by FIFA/Blatter until these officials were reinstated . Let there be sanity if soccer is to improve.

  7. Kalusha Bwalya and that fat monkey Hayatou next! Mudala, you can’t f*ck with FBI. They have caused US Presidents to resign and you thought Blatter would survive?

  8. I think Isa Yatuo also should follow his master Sepp Blatter to stepdown becuase it has been too long for him staying at helm of CAF no wonder every time someone tries to challenge him there are alot of spanners. Issa is he a muyayya caf adminstrator? Count the numebr of years has been president of CAF. Imagine from 1988 to now.

Leave for the football family to add a comment on this matter.
