Mayuka picked for Ethiopia friendly

Share

Striker Emmanuel Mayuka is set to make his Zambia return in next week’s friendly against Ethiopia.

Mayuka made a surprise return to Zambia this week after a six month layoff after suffering a groin injury at the 2015 Africa Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

Mayuka, who has been training with Zambia since Tuesday, is part of Honour Janza’s 18-member team that leaves for Addis Ababa on Friday ahead of the June 8 friendly.

“I am Ok now, fully fit and I am just trying to get more game time to try and get back to my level best. At the moment I feel good and it is good to be back in training,” Mayuka said.

“I have played some games with the Southampton Under-21’s which was a good thing for me in trying to be fit which I am now.”

Meanwhile, Zambia will fly back straight to Ndola from Addis after the friendly ahead of their opening 2017 africa Cup Group E qualifier against Guinea Bissau at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on June 13.

  1. This is truly laughable how can he be declaring himself fit when he didn’t even make on to the bench of Southampton’s last 3 matches!

  2. So instead of calling up a striker who’s consistently featuring for his club (e.g. Rogers Kola/Jacob Mulenga), this “coach” is calling up a bench warmer.

  3. Am yet to build my hope for chipolopolo otherwise they are finished,we ar being pushed left right and center by small teams, sory there ar no more small teams thats y they ar now feasting on us

  4. Why has this young man been picked? Is it not one of the reasons we shall not go anywhere in football because of such decisions?

  5. That miss kicked us out of AFCON, Janza please drop these three: Mbola, Munthali and even Mweene (talks too much). Good that Jacob Banda is back, that guy will surely compete with Munyao.

  6. Mayuka doesnt play so whats the idea ba Janza? May be you should also pick Kalusha since he doesnt play too
