Patriotic Front (PF)’s National Mobilization Committee Secretary Kelvin Mayondi says the opposition UPND should stop with immediate effect accusing his party of “ buying ( new ) members’ every time they defect from their respective parties to join the ruling party.
Mr. Mayondi it is unfair for the opposition in the country to always point an accusing finger at the PF every time it loses its members to the ruling party.
He said everyone was seeing the various developmental programmes that the ruling party is doing for the benefit of the Zambian people that was attracting most cadres to join the PF.
ZANIS reports that the PF National Mobilzation Committee Secretary was speaking in an interview following the recent defection of 1500 cadres from PF and MMD to the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) in Luanshya, recently.
He said though the defectors were merely exercising their democratic right, his committee will soon recommence its continued recruitment drive nationwide.
Mr. Mayondi said the opposition should not cry foul that the ruling party is” buying the opposition cadres ” every time they willingly defect to the PF.
He said some people were failing to see what the PF is doing in the nation in terms of implementing developmental programmes which were started by the late President Michael Sata.
Yesterday, UPND Copperbelt provincial Chairman Elisha Matambo was in Luanshya were he received 1500 from Loan constituency who defected to the UPND.
At the same gathering, Mr Matambo urged the new members to go flat out and continue recruiting more members ahead of next year’s elections.

Very rarely do I hear of defections from the ruling party to the opposition. However, defection is one’s right devoid of name calling.

No doubt, zambia needs a kachema to come out of this poverty.. A shepherd will always ensure his flock grazes on good pasture. Majority zambians can no longer afford decent meals.
