President Edgar Lungu says people of Southern Province should not be cheated that they are not wanted by his administration and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).

President Lungu urged the people in the province not to be cheated by detractors but to count on him as a unifying factor in the nation.

Speaking on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone today, ahead of his meeting with Southern Province Chiefs, Mr. Lungu observed that there was so much bitterness being harboured by the opposition UPND.

Mr. Lungu who was accompanied by his special assistant for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda, Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula, Political Affairs Advisor, Kaizer Zulu and Livingstone Member of Parliament Lawrence Evans said the bitterness by the UPND was due to their failure to win the Presidential Election.

He explained that what made people win was what they did, adding that he was ready for the 2016 General Elections.

“I am ready for 2016 General Elections. When things are wrong, let us sit down and talk instead of bringing up issues of killing ( one another). Life is the preserve of God so let’s focus on allowing each other to do the jobs we are supposed to do,” he said.

Mr. Lungu said he was in Livingstone to talk to Southern Province Chiefs in a bid to resolve some perceived wrangles.

“Even in houses, people differ. I want to talk to my leaders their royal highnesses and understand how they perceive the political wrangles going on,” he said.

He said Zambians were one people and he was glad they had given chance to someone they could trust to lead the country.

“A leader should be like me, whichever province I go to, come 2016, am sure I will get the votes from those provinces,” he said.

Earlier, Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu said government programs were running smoothly in the province and the people appreciated President Lungu’s leadership and governance style.

President Lungu was received at the airport, by Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu, Commerce Deputy Minister Richwell Siamunene, Southern Province Permanent Secretary Sibanze Simuchoba, Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela and other senior government and PF party officials.

There has been concerns from people of Southern Province over tribal remarks alleged to be targeted at them by PF Secretary General, Davies Chama and calls have been made for his resignation.

  1. Edgar Lungu you are nothing but a sleeping drunkard, a dozing Kachasu Man.

    useless president. fuseki111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @Hildah Malama:

I like your comments, Edgar Lungu is a unifier for beers that he keeps abusing at State House.

Come 2016, Lungu is losing the elections.

    • Edgar Lungu is a very big disappointment and an embarrassment.

Its clear that he supports what Chama, Mumbi Phiri and Chishimba Kambwili said about the Tonga People.

Tongas and Lozis should suceed from Zambia so that Edgar Lungu becomes the president of drunkards only.

Tongas and Lozis should connive a meeting and consider killing Chishimba Kambwili, Davies Chama and Mumbi Phiri.

    • Unifying through Emmanuel Mwamba and Kanene’s girl friends in bars of Chawama.
Lets see how Edgar will unify even us at LT. We are disappointed that such a tall body is been wasted by PF goats. Why Edgar join PF anyway, instead of FDD?

    • If Lungu is a unifier with his wako-ni-wako, then Hitler was the saviour of the Jews! Lungu is full of shite, saying one thing and doing the opposite. Lungu is a liar and manipulator, on top of being a coward. He never does his own dirty work.

  2. He needs to publicly disown the tribal sentiments peddled by his senior party members. They are contradictory to an attempts to unify the nation.

  3. imwe aba niba president sure? how does he say such things, what will a common man say?am very dissapointed

    • I am with you 100%. What he said is very unpresidential. It is like Mumbi Phiri or Chama talking. Now we know Mumbi Phiri and Chama are their master voice. I cannot believe that ECL is a lawyer. He must be a product of a bad law school.

  4. The fact is lungu is still standing on a firm foundation of sata. You will never hear HH condemn aTonga nomata what is said. The chiefs from southern have clearly demonstrated Zambianism and that has made HH even weaker. Tongas join the ruling party and be identified. isolation will leav you weaker and more vulnarable. we need you more than you need us

  5. Ba Zambia finshi mulefwaya natwishiba fwe bene eeeeh Lungu eeeh Lungu eeeh Lungu eo tulefwaya x2 via singing kansi ni malabishi yeka yeka useless President. ..

  6. ALUNGU a unifyier carefully choses his words cautously,”@upnd are bitter and i will get votes everwhere”these are not words of a unifier.RB was sure tht he win 2011 but the rest is history.

  7. That statement by ECL is more divisive than unifying . Forget about the opposition and sort out the issue of your tribally inclined mouthpieces like Mumbi, kambwili and Chama. I have stayed with the Tonga’s, they won’t call a small cow a goat no, they will call it just as it is, you have to live with and among the tonga people to appreciate their “stubbornness ” on issues.

  8. You go to Southern Province, a stronghold of the very party whose leader and supporters Chama insulted, and the first thing you do is to emulate Davies Chama by attacking the same party and effectively its supporters, possibly including some of the chiefs he is going to meet, as bitter and prone to being cheated? That is really cheap, Edgar! Who advises this man?

  9. Very big embarrassment sure. A normal president would not have to travel BUT would have already resolved this problem. When a president has to be led by his subjects to do what is right, then there is something terrible with that leader!

    • A president is a servant of all even you when you have a pressing issue he can come to your ramshackle and help you.

  10. Insimba ishilanyela mupeto ikonke nshila > tangala muno chalo pantu chikashala . Balungu don’t boast of wining 2016 elections . And do not talk of kasama central even if you win the bye elections it is not the sign that you shall win elections . 2016 is general elections . during bye elections you intimidate people that if they don’t vote for the ruling party there shall be no development , Okay cheat your self because you tame us . umwaiche ekalisha ilyo an ya

    • So nausea ifyo wikalishe?
Take note, Lungu ain’t a person for cheap talk. He tells it as it is. Ngachakukalipa, go vote in you usual Usual way

  11. President Lungu needs men Like general Miyanda to help him steer Zambia. The crowd he has at the moment is incompetent. Chiluba had the best cabinet ever before 1994. Mwanawasa was our greatest president to date. Better than Sata and guy scott combined.

    • @Kakolwe enough of your insults and uncivilsed language lets debate about issues of development on this platform. You are type of people who bring hunger and poverty to Zambia. That’s why we want to succeed so that we can live like swanas with a lot of beef to export to UK and make pounds. We do not deserve insults everyday even by drunkards’.Zambia is failed project. Lungu at KK airport says he will remove Chiefs out of politics and he reaches Livingstone he says he is unifier what a coward and dangerous liar.

  12. “A leader should be like me, whichever province I go to, come 2016, am sure I will get the votes from those provinces,”

This summarizes it all. He has already won 2016 General elections.

Guys let’s support this President. How many Presidents have followed tribalists before. For him to make an effort to go and visit bitter and visionary confined tribalists, he is a unifier.

  13. The Kwacha is the only currency to appreciate in southern africa this week against the dollar making it the best perfoming currency in africa for the last 2 weeks.
Around southern africa, fuel prices are relatively lower or almost at per with most countries.

  14. No one is cheating the Tongas that they are not wanted (or that they are hated) by the people in ECL’s government, they can see it. The writing is all on the wall. It’s not enough to tell the Tonga people that you care about them, put your words into practice. If you keep quiet when one tribe is being attacked left, right and center by people in your government, then you are an accomplice.

  15. No country runs like this and still remains OK. It is perpetual comedy from top to bottom! Presidency made simple!

  16. Bitterness bitterness its only six months the man ECL has another fifteen months to lead by the mandate of the great people of Zambia. Konseni mwalakota with your bitterness. You can insult him redicule him call him all names it won’t help you nor better your situation the fact remains he is the President of Zambia period.

    • @makandanyama you don’t seize to amaze me ,you even proud to say koseni mwalakota who is going to age faster or die faster if not Lungu who is under pressure to sort out the economy and load shedding. Is there any Zambia to be proud of .Boss travel out of Zambia and see real development.Umwana shenda atasha banyina ukwipika.Come 2016 Lungu will tossed like a fly and that’s if he will reach with his status.

  17. why on earth are you attacking UPND who are innocent in this whole matter.Chama and PF attacked Tongas why are you trying to distract the attention to UPND who were npt even at the Chuundu Chaitwa meeting.Deal with issues objectively and dont regard everyone to be stupid.we can see through your ways.If you were a unifier why didnt you rebuke Chama for his remarks. No one in UPND ever said anything against any other tribe in Zambia because we know we are too integrated to fight amongst ourselves. Not every one is a politician so keep your political fights away from tribes

  18. Someone who saw him in livingstone said he was lifting his fist on the street but people just looked on. Only wako no wako staying in southern province will vote for him

    • Ba ISO – Oh okay – so Southerners voting for HH is not wako ni wako? Wako ni wako only applies to Easterners voting for an Easterner? Okay!!

    • Iso, why are you people so angry? No wonder you are called bitter. So what if no one raised their fist. Look at you even saying only wako ni wako living in Livingstone will vote for him. What has Edgar done to you? I am thinking its not just the economy. There are just anger issues because you thought your preferred candidate would win, then he unfortunately he lost. Always complaining. PF won the elections so live with it or stay away from your lap/desktop. Don’t you get tired of your negative energy? What will you do when PF wins again next year. Skin them?

  19. Makandanyama, it is not just being a president that matters. Give the presidency a qualifier, then you will see what really is required. Lungu is a pathetic president. Look at how many times he has blown his own trampet in this report: unifier, indeed, with wako ni wako!

What has he gone to do when he is convinced the people of Southern Province are bitter, not because they have been insulted (thereby maintaining Chama, Mumbi, Kambwili and Sunday Chanda are right)?

  20. Stop blaming UPND for your lack of leadership its not them who insulted the Tonga’s but its your own person Davies Chama whom you have even feared to discipline and then you boast around that you are a unifying factor where? In fact the Tonga Chiefs should have not met him so that he can sits up.

    • @Seasoned Engineer ….. and the point is? You have lost me there! Such a paradox- gained Kwacha and high cost of fuel? Not even in Basic Economics from Rapids!

  21. Splendid words from my president!!but focus more on PF strongholds like CB,Luapula,Northern,Muchinga,Eastern,Lusaka and part of central bcoz southerners will ever vote for their “chuundu chaitwa sponsor HH”!!!I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE THAT PF OR ANY OTHER RULING PARTY CAN DEVELOP SOUTHERN INTO USA TODAY,BUT WHEN VOTING 95% VOTERS THERE WILL STILL VOTE FOR THEIR FELLOW TONGA HH!!!so Mr.President just focus more on areas where voters appreciate development than triba1ism!!UPND CADRES WILL BE VERY BITTER IN 2016 AFTER SEEING THEIR HH LOSE FOR A RECORD 5TH STRAIGHT ATTEMPT!!I CANT WAIT FOR 2016!!IT’LL BE KOLOPA.COM RELOADED IN FAVOUR OF PF!!!UPND TAUGHT US HOW TO VOTE ON 20/01/2015!!

  22. This is the problem of stealing votes by 27,000 difference. No one will like you because the majority of the people voted for HH. PF thugs you must stop winning elections by stealing votes like what you did also in Mulobezi by winning with 24 votes. Very shameful. No wonder there is this confusion in this country its because God has cursed this Govt and PF. Confusion will continue until you confess your sins you thugs.

  23. The good thing is that Edgar Lungu is the president for all of us,HH and UPND cadres inclusive!!so no matter how you insult him,if your “chuundu chaitwa” leader wont win souls of majority voters,ECL will still rule us up to 2021!!!

  24. Lungu is a lazy visionless coward president! He has failed to discipline or tell Chama and Mumbi straight in their faces that what they said was not right and that they should apologize, he has failed! What sort of a leader is he! That is the only solution to quenching of fire created by these two (Chama and Mumbi). Since Edgar can’t say anything to these two, then it only means one thing, and that is: what they said had his blessings! Ati I’m a unifier! What a joke of presidency!

  25. WHO TOLD YOU THE MAJORITY VOTED FOR THE DRUNKARD! Just observe the bloggers across all online media from Lusaka times, Zambian watchdog, kopala times, tumfweko, zambian eye, lusaka voice etc. Make a comparison on those for HH and your Lungu! That should tell you something about what happened to your fake vote results!

  26. @mugubudu note this :under our current constitution,a candidate may win by 1 vote and rule Zambia!!THE QUESTION U MUST BE ASKING YOURSELVES IN UPND IS THAT WHY DID 27 000 VOTES GO TO EDGAR LUNGU(A NEW COMER) AND NOT HH WHO HAS BEEN CONTESTING SINCE 2006 AND CAMPAIGNED FROM OCTOBER 2014?to me the answer is very simple.HH come so closer to ECL bcoz Edgar Lungu was not known by many voters, then Guy Scott made life hard for PF since he didnt like ECL,rain season, farmers were not paid on time, confusion in PF,voter apathy, etc.SO IN 2016 EXPECT A HUGE GAP BETWEEN ECL AND HH!!JUST A 50% TURNOUT IN PF STRONGHOLDS WILL BE ENOUGH TO DEFEAT YOUR HH IN 2016!!

  27. These tonga and UPND cadres are really bitter, am one of the guys who feel sorry for you. Losing is very painful. Look at the voting pattern, when someone writes rubbish about the government, you ll see more green votes and just say anything against kachema, then it ll be full of red voting. Please guys give solutions and not just critisizing thru out without any thing tangible.

  28. What did Lungu drink this time to go to Southern Province and blame all tribal woes on UPND leaving Mumbi, Chimbwili and Chama who ignited the inferno? One is given to wonder sometimes whether with Lungu it’s just the effects of “jamesons”, an endowment of plain stupidity from god or both. I blame it all on Zambians, you’re a collective lunatical people to vote such a dick-head for president!

  29. Yaba! if these were words from the president am disappointed. How about saying we are both Zambians, whether UPND, PF, UNIP.. whatever! We are all in for bettering Zambia champion the same course which is lifting the standards of our lives. Winning the elections 2016 is irrelevant at this point. Be sober and sensitive to issues before people

  30. This bitterness by UPND is amazing. They have already decampained themselves thru. CUUNDU CHAITWA.Who will vote for a tribal party in 2016 ?

  31. I drink beer myself and will not vote for UPND then and who ever has ever tasted beer in Zambia should never vote for the tribal party and will see who will win.As Director for a very successful company,i find the beer comments by UPND boring and not appealing.

  32. Why do PF cadres think that whoever criticizes ECL must be UPND? What is this phobia about UPND such that you can no longer think straight for yourself?

  33. PF! Don’t think who ever criticizes Lungu is UPND. That’s not the case. There are people who have the best interest in seeing Zambia move forward and they look at things objectively. Its dullness to look at everyone with an opposing view to be an enemy!

    • @Kaputo, plz adjust your miopic view. You are describing what your friends are describing here. Lungu said “UPND is bitter” and all you azzholes are saying “why go to Southern province if he said Southers are bitter?” Is UPND=SOUTHERN PROVINCE? OR is upnd=tonga?

  34. What made him go south is b’coz of tribal remarks by his snr pf members. Pf Bitterness results from the way zambians voted for upnd in Jan ’15 elections. Pf did not win and the phobia for 2016 loss is what is causing jittery in pf. Treat zambians equally.

  35. Yes unification is good but remember that Rupiah pleased all chiefs in 2011 and forgot the the poor majority people who vote and subsequently lost elections to Michael data.So concentrate on developing the country and not waste time and resources on chiefs who have salaries.People vote not chiefs. That’s my humble advice

  36. Pf is still bitter about the way zambians voted in jan’15 election. Pf did not win. Pf has sniffed a loss in 2016 and has developed phobia for upnd being the only strong opposition party. Just treat all zambians equally.

    • @nsofutiasis! Bitter who? Who should be bitter? Neganega has taught Northern how to vote. Katele will have 2 or 3 things that rubbed off of the upnd method. Kapita has exposed the underlying attributes of hakainde, Lungu will not need to jump borders during a ten days campaign! a small clique of Kopala & lsk just have to teach hh a lesson, and Westeners have seen through the Tonga ruse and will not be tricked ever again!! Smell the coffee! Mbuli!!!

  37. All of this thing of one calling himself names – ‘unifier and chosen’ is because of arrogancy. Does Chagwa know the saying , ‘action speaks louder than words’? His action has made us know who he is not what he wants to be. That is just admiring to be a unifier. If he is what has he done about the nepotism that he himself acknowledged? What has he done about PF thugs who are keeping weapons at bus stations? Many more questions are bound. Just yesterday he waffles that some opposition parties are bitter. The usual rhetoric. Who can be happy with the corruption, thuggery, silent genocide and biting living conditions that Zambians are experiencing ? Shame a Chagwa .
