Women’s lobby lobbies for funds from Government

Share

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby group in Northern Province has appealed to government to empower more women with finances and skills so that they can become self-reliant.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama today, Women’s Lobby Provincial Secretary Precious Mwamba said it is important for women to be empowered in order to move the country forward economically.

Ms. Mwamba said women are usually victims of gender based violence but most of them fail to speak up because of being too dependent on their spouses.

She said this can only be prevented if women are economically empowered hence the need for them to take up farming as a source of livelihood.

Ms. Mwamba has appealed to commercial banks to consider giving soft loans to women clubs to help them venture in viable businesses.

She further urged government to train more women in various entrepreneurship skills adding that most women lack business knowledge hence the need to empower them.

  1. Find other viable means of women empowerment. This system of soft loans does not help all. The money is just consumed in a questionable project. And as it is in Zambia: no follow ups.

  2. Ask General Kanene! Did you not applaud Edgar Lungu on his release? Now you are singing a different tune about gender based violence when you supported a child molester and pedophiles release before completion of his term. We knew from the get go you wanted recognition but it was the wrong kind. If I were a woman issuing loans or you came crying to, I’d show you the door. You clearly have no morals and jump where it’s hot. Now you are crying GBV when you don’t care or fight for women and children. You are nothing but a disgrace to all women in the world and need to be shut down. Greed is what it is and all about money when you have no idea about sexual violence. It was you who should have been the 1st to condemn Kanene’s release. You’ve shown us your true colours by supporting GBV.

  3. Now everything makes sense. They cheered for ka Lungu when he sprung that rapist from prison so they can beg him for some cash.
