GBM is a reject and a coward-Davies Chama

THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says UPND vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) is nearing the end of his political carrier after his seat was declared vacant by Speaker of the National Assembly.

PF secretary general Davies Chama said the former Defence Minister cannot win a parliamentary seat under any political party because he was riding on the popularity of the PF from 2011 when he was invited to join the PF by late President Michael Sata.

Meanwhile, the United Party for National Development (UPND) has ruled out seeking court redress over the loss of Mr Mwamba’s seat saying it will instead float him as its candidate when the by-election is officially announced.

Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini declared the Kasama seat vacant on Tuesday on account that Mr Mwamba had joined the UPND by accepting the position of vice president of the opposition party.

Mr Chama said in an interview yesterday that Mr Mwamba popularly known as GBM would find it hard to convince the electorates that he still had relevance to political dispensation in the country.

“GBM is a reject and a coward whose political career has now come to an end and the UPND should not be cheated because Mr Mwamba was riding on the popularity of the PF.

“We don’t have short memories, GBM should thank our late father (president Sata) who resuscitated his political career after being defeated when he stood on MMD ticket in Kabwata in 2006,” Mr Chama said.

Mr Chama noted that it was lack of morals for Mr Mwamba to try and hang on to two parties when he was a former minister who was conversant with the law after swearing to uphold the constitution.

However, UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said the opposition party was surprised at the ruling by Dr Matibini in Parliament especially that the matter was still in court.

He said Mr Mwamba had raised serious issues on his fundamental rights and freedoms which should have been exhausted by the courts of law before Dr Matibini could make a ruling on the Kasama seat.

Mr Kakoma however, said the UPND was now ready to float Mr Mwamba in Kasama in the by-election and expressed confidence of shocking the ruling party by scooping the seat.

  1. Of course he’s a coward. That’s what RB said about Magani before Zambians kicked Him and MMD out. You can win the by elections but these are your last days. Next year “PF Kuya Bebele

    • Dream ON! Why do you upnd bigots compare your political fortunes to the way PF came to power? Look at the irony: The PF who did that to RB are still here! The RB they beat is with them! You should say “The PF that beat upnd AND mmd and while acting together!” The sad part of it is that, you are using the same tactics that have failed you in over 120 constituencies. How do you raise your hope? This is the area where your planted stooges babapushile kwempa! Can GBM run like Mucheleka?

    • Sept 6,2013:As the results for Mkaika Constituency bye elections pierced through the hearts of PF members last night, PF sources immediately pointed fingers at the raucous Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM), who they have accused of costing the party the elections.

“Wherever GBM has been leading campaigns, we have lost elections. He was campaign manager in Muchinga Constituency and we lost to Howard Kunda, when we should have easily won. He was in the forefront of the campaigns in Chipata and Mkaika, where he overshadowed the campaign manager, Edgar Lungu, and look at the results,” the sources complain.

“It shows that people do not appreciate GBM and you cannot make him the face of the campaigns. It’s like whenever people see him they get irritated. He brings so much…

    • Sour grapes! Amateur! An appropriate statement should have been issued by the SG to the effect that the loss of one of our founder members is regretted, but PF will move on. Mr Chama’s polical schooling is incomplete to say the list.

    • He brings so much confusion, has no courtesy and he brags a lot. Zambians don’t like people who brag. They hate boastful people. We as PF must know that. So GBM is a liability,” the emotional sources add.

“He went to Mkaika with a lot of thugs from Lusaka just like he did in Chipata. Thugs who were fighting other PF members. Well, we’ve been punished. Particularly, people of Eastern Province do not like aggressive people. GBM comes across as aggressive.”

The sources say GBM’s ‘senseless’ endorsement crusade has clearly been rejected by the people as evidenced by the landslide defeat of the ruling party.

“We should be spending time explaining what we are doing for the people. We must focus on development. Miles Sampa [Commerce Deputy Minister] was right to caution against these…

    • Conti……. Miles Sampa [Commerce Deputy Minister] was right to caution against these senseless endorsements. The Vice President also warned against the endorsements. He has been proved right. It’s time to stop GBM. He is making the party unpopular.”

“GBM repels people. They don’t appreciate his attitude and behaviour. This loss is on his head,” the angry sources say.

    • Mumbwe pakulila ninshi pali uko ashintilile. He might be a witch that man.
When are we going to hear dirty Chama holding a rally, even a bye election. Lets see him at a podium in Kasama if he is a brave man.

    • This kind of politics how come it is found in Zambia. I mean I have not traveled a lot but here in Australia politics is issue based. Ba Chama how do you call you colleague as coward and a reject?? It is really not good mwe.
Mr GBM may make mistakes but he is your colleague representing people in Kasama. He is a reject yet PF chose him to stand on Kasama ticket.
Please mulibakalamba ba chama mature up ba mudala. Show us positive politics. not yelling and calling each other names. Now ba GBM nabo will attack personally then circle goes on.
      Anyway nipa Zed yali tafa

    • FLASHBACK: PF Naive on GBM, says Sunday Chanda
On December 26, 2013, Zambia Reports wrote the following article:
Volatile Patriotic Front cadre Sunday Chanda has continued to publicly criticize his party with his latest tirade aimed at the party for playing down the resignation of Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba.
Chanda who runs the Open Society Foundation said the PF were being naïve by thinking the resignation of Mwamba had not caused any impact.
Chanda said the party should reflect on the resignation of Mwamba and ensure that they manage the emerging cracks carefully.
He also said the furor about the refusal to install Paramount Chief Chitimukulu was unnecessary.
Chanda said Sosala should be recognized as Chief Chitimukulu because he had been chosen by the Bemba Royal…

    • On a serious note: PF will be tested on this by election. This will be the most expensive by election ever. I expect blood shed and character assassination. If PF loses this by election that will mark the end of PF. Its just the same like a big man toting a boy over a girl and one the boy loses respect and fights the big man. If the big man is clobbered that will be the end of his respect.Northern province is now a swing state. After Sata’s death Northern province does not belong to Lungu or HH.Northern province will decide who the next president will be mark my words.

    • Wishfull thinking , watch and wait to see how your HH will lose again to the now President of Zambia. Remember he was beaten when he ECL was just minister and with no proper campaign funds who never even covered the whole country campaigning. Opposition parties currently on paper can not defeat PF. They are just good at talking and insults .

    • D!ck heads like Davies Chama and Sunday Chanda should be nowhere near politics in a normal society.
Sunday your rhetoric is not progressive nor developmental, as should be expected from ruling party officials.
You are wasting time typing trivial matters when you should explaining your party of fuuls(PF) agenda or policies.
For once Sunday and Davies you will need to start being relevant by addressing issues affecting society and how your party of fuuls (PF)is going to deliver its promises if any.
You won’t fuul anyone but yourselves with these immature press statements you have resorted to sh!tting here.

    • Lungu has not fired chama yet. Chama is the main reason PF will get less or zero votes in Southern Western and Central province.

Anyway let Chama stay as SG so that PF gets zero votes in UPND strong holdsholds and less votes in major towns.

Chama is campaining for UPND using reverse psychology.

    • Ignorant, poverty and Illiterate Chama is, just to quote Mr Mills, then Geography teacher at Chifubu Secondary School in Ndola.

    • UPND should have gone to court (that’s if this channel’s available to them). This constitution needs testing.
While I appreciate the uselessness of our Judiciary (& general governance structures) of our country, UPND can use this opportunity to bring out the weaknesses in our current constitution.
The answer to the question as asked by ZWD would have been interesting: was it the intention of the framers of our constitution to allow the President to annoy, to irritate & to create confusion in an opposition party by appointing their MPs?
There is no value MCS saw in Moonde et al but just to create confusion just like there is no value ECL has seen in Kaingu apart from the thank you to RB.

    • wanzelu, Southern province was not much of a factor in as far as ECL being elected president was concerned. During the last elections 95% of the electorate in Southern Province( with the exception of Livingstone) voted HH but ECL went on to win the national vote. Mind you ECL had Guy Scott to contend with. From the actions of GS it was clear that GS and the cartel wanted HH to win the elections. Should ECL fire DC will Southern province vote for ECL? I for one doubt very much if the people of Southern province will vote for any one other than HH. If ECL on the other hand fires Chama, ECL might end up losing the Northern province vote.
To me ECL is better off keeping Chama as he never got that many votes from Southern province and will never get that many votes as long as HH stands.

    • @Kakolwe: MMD was much stronger than PF by no comparisons. Financially and Unity? PF will lose the next Election and rigging will not work..

I am non partisan but the guys have no clue on what they are doing? Sorry we know the truth pains but its a fact.

Unless EL changes the people around him, he will go no where back to ma Jamesons.

    • DAVIS WHO IN THE PF COULD HAVE THE BALLS TO STAND UP TO THE LATE MCS APART FROM GBM? EVEN THE YOUR SO CALLED LUNGU WHO IS UNDOING EVERYTHING THE LATE MCS DID, IMPLYING HE DID NOT AGREE WITH WHAT THE LATE MCS WAS DOING. THE COWARDS ARE YOU AND YOUR PRESIDENT. YOUR BIGGEST FEAR IS THE TRUTH. YOU HAVE DAMAGED THIS COUNTRY AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GOVERN. JUST A LITTLE REMINDER, THE PRESIDENT IS A MANAGER, THE ZAMBIANS ARE THE OWNERS – DO NOT CHEAT PEOPLE THAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT DEVELOPMENT WHEN IT IS THE MANAGERS JOB TO MANAGE THE ASSETS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE OWNERS. THIS MANAGER – LUNGU, WE EMPLOYED IS A PROVEN FAILURE (PF) AND MUST BE FIRED NEXT YEAR.

    • “A book is the most effective weapon against intolerance and ignorance.” Lyndon Baines Johnson

No one gives advice with more enthusiasm and less knowledge than an ignorant person and, too often, an educated person is someone who knows how to be ignorant “intelligently”. It’s all right to be ignorant about some things, but it’s ridiculous to make a career of it. John Rayoa

“Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper.” Robert Frost

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” Thomas Jefferson

    • Chama you have one disadvantage on your side, you are far from being analytical, hence you speak first and think later.

    • Bakongeshe babili ta ta balala pamo, this marriage will not last. GBM, please take a rest as your political life is over.

  2. Chama’s sentiments can only be proved wrong if GBM explains why he has been contesting his expulsion from PF since January. Why did it have to take the Speaker of National Assembly to pluck him from PF? Why does it take HH to lie to the people of Kasama that GBM had his own national convention in upnd? That is trying to force a reject on the people of Kasama.

    • …… why are so nasty on those 2 rich people HH & GBM? Go and discuss your people without abbraviations. Chama is just bitter because he is a poor man, even Edgar is better off. I don’t understand what is wrong with you poor people, why do always against rich people even if they were as humble as HH?

    • Kwena mune chilakumwonkola kwati Ba GBM mwanaobe. He has the right to do what he wants .Leave him alone boi.

  3. Mr Chama, democracy is a game of numbers. You should regret any loss of a member, especially a former member of parliament who is likely to be followed by hundreds to his new chosen political party; that would have been a respectable and mature comment on this issue. The truth is you are likely to go in polical oblivion much sooner and be forgotten than Mwamba will.

    • @Imisango, that is a twisted logic!! How do you miss a member you have kicked out? Check the difference: Kapita RESIGNED from upnd. He left on his own volition. GBM was SACKED! He papatilad to stay on in PF. He went to the courts to ask them to force PF to keep him but his hunt for ‘titles’ ‘respect’ overtook his challenges. When a person is sacked, it is good riddance! Let him enjoy his Vice prsidentship. At least he will help someone not to feel lonely in that bracket of being the Vice President who was beaten in his own bedroom!

  4. SG chama now you are playing politics….polish up more you have capacity….this country has created reasonable capacity for fair and democratic politics please listen to zambia dont worry about zimbabwe…..

  5. Mr. Chama,
can you please inform Zambians on your achievements?

Being PF Secretary General in the current situation of darkness, hunger, unemployment, destitution and tribalism can hardly be accepted as something positive which will promote your ideal of one party state under PF.

Please, do the Nation big favor and hung yourself on the same tree as your good friend Sunday.

  6. I think Davis Chama has short term memory. Who of all people is he to talk when he’s been protected by PF. He almost fatally shot someone and did not even go to jail but this only happens in Zambia. That simply put was attempted murder and premeditated too since he went to a place carrying a gun with intentions of hurting someone. In my opinion is it Davis who is a reject and a coward and the person riding on the popularity of PF (for this brief moment). People have been crying for justice but the president has kept quiet on this issue including mama Wina. Davis continues to harass people and insult tribes again nothing is done. If there’s anyone who needs to check themselves it’s Chama. He simply needs to look in the mirror and all he said about GBM is exactly himself. Viva 2016.

  7. GBM will always be a factor in Zambian politics. This poor Chama is leaving a good life because of GBM.If GBM did not sponsor bashikulu Sata PF will have remained in opposition.Mr Sata had no capacity to book planes for campaigns in 2011.even the bible acknowledges that money is protection and provides dignit when put in proper use.

    • Just wait for the by-election to see who wins between GBM and PF, its when you should open your mouth man. But to tell you the truth, GBM will lose the Kasama central seat.

  8. Chsma and his politics of bitterness and thuggery. Pf is in its last kicks. The country’s economy is messed up.

  9. Chama and his politics of bitterness and thuggery. Pf is in its last kicks. The country’s economy is messed up. Majority have lost trust in pf.

  10. GBM has never been a politician like VJ. He just tried to b one. He will feel the weight of PF. To those thinking and cheating that he made Sata to win due to his finances, r u meaning that before he joined Sata never booked choppers? No! GBM just as he percieves now, after loosing to Given Lubinda in Kabwata he rushed to PF coz he was sure PF would win. With or without him, according to the political wind, PF was destined for a win. Even now, GBM new PF was a reliable party no wonder he struggled to make a decision and went to court. Fortunately enough, he did something stupid that rendered him to lose it all, duo membership. He shall lose and UPND will lose. The wako ni wako that made Sakwiba Sikota not to b UPND president is the one we shall employ. Wait and c. Money doesn’t vote.

  11. My prediction is that GBM will lose the election in Kasama.

One thing though is that there will be a lot of violence and a lot of voter apathy as a result of the violence.

To people of Kasama, please do not accept to be dragged into rich people’s struggle for power. GBM and PF cadres will come with billions of Kwacha, they will pay kabovas to intimidate you…just stand firm this is your country – it is your constituency. Good luck with the voting.

    Best

  12. People who have accumulated wealth mostly in an defined means will always want power so they can be protected! if I were a voter in that area, I would ensure I get back my money from these people but still punish them by voting wisely!! Tired of by-elections, this election money can surely go to capital projects!!!

  13. The winner is based on the level play ground. In the past PF won by stealing votes. Pangas, mudslinging, cheating, vote buying, using tax payers money. Zambian please wake up

  14. Chama the worst creature in Zambia. Chama you should know that this by election is not important, GBM can we or lose there is no impact.
If kasama people vote out GBM it them to loose because GBM is the only MP who can donate his graturity to the consitutuence.

GBM is not loosing anything. Those who are donating the vehicles this time where were they when government confiscated all the properties from Sosala.
Its only GBM who rescued Sosala and he resigned as defence Minister because of Sosala.

    Ba PF kuya bebele.

  15. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if an independent won? Both the Chamas and GBMs have nothing substantial to offer Kasama

  16. Chama is useless. Where were he and Edgar Lungu when RB was being removed by the hard campaigning of Sata, Scott and Kabimba? These chaps were somewhere else, being useless, avoiding hard work. And he dares to accuse others of riding on PF’s popularity. Naimwe?

  17. GBM has finished himself politically by joining UP and Down.He thinks when HH retires next year then he will take over the small tribal party……but will the Garys,Kakoma, muntangas etc allow you ? A big home work for you Sir.

  18. Tongas r now boasting that Unpd is the party of the rich. A clear sign that the party can not sort out problems of the poor. Its too detached from the reality in Zed – 95% of Zambians r poor. Majority of pipo live from day-to-day. When u listern to HH, his only focus has been & is on the rich – Big business. Creating an enabling environment fo rich & big business. That’s all. He has no pro-poor programs. Now he has single-handedly appointed another man, who is full of boasting about how rich he is, to jointly pursue rich-pipo programs. Party of the rich indeed!!!

  19. THE SAD THING IS EVERY ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL MEASURE SHOWS THAT THE PF HAS FAILED MISERABLY. THIS IS NOT ABOUT GBM. THE DISCUSSION SHOULD BE ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PF. GBM HAS IS MILLIONS AND WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE EVEN IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT HE LOST. THE QUESTIONS VOTERS SHOULD ASK THEMSELVES IS WHETHER THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE WAY PF IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY. AS LONG AS WE CONTINUE TO BE A COUNTRY THAT VOTES ON PERSONALITIES AND NAME AND NOT ISSUES WE WILL CONTINUE DOWN THIS ENDLESS SPIRAL OF FAILURE. PF HAS FAILED AT SOME POINT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! !!

  20. UPND’s Strategy has again collapsed. Having invested so much in Tribalism ,they thought they will succeed to divide the northern region by exporting the Tribalism Prism there. That the Bembas are being marginalised, that PF has been hijacked by Easterners and Lozis. All attempts to get rid of SG Chama, Mumbi and Kambwili are orchestrated attempts to purvey this Tribal line to the Northerners. Having GBM with one foot in PF was an attempt to use PF Structures and Numbers, Play the Tribal Line to hoodwink the Northerners and get some protest votes. But voting for the Tribal UPND is a generational issue. It should start with the way Southerners relate with others .At work places, Schools , Universities and Colleges, Boarding Houses, neighbourhoods . Not just Parading Fat Albert! Ni Patali

  21. GBM should avoid mentioning money each time he campaigns, he sends a very negative message to the electorate. The electorate should view him as their own and not somebody who is there to use them to advance his agenda.

  22. President Lungu should just fire you Davis Chama because your politics are inspiring. You just barking like a dog.Rubbish! You are the worst secretary general the country Zambia has in the history of our politics.Galu iwe.Yes we all know that gbm is your fellow rubbish politician and that his end has come and you Chama your end as well is very near.Shut up you dog!

  23. If I was as dark as Davies Chama, I would at least try to wear light coloured clothing to as least reflect some light so that people can see my location! I mean, the man is so black, he is in the dark all the time and no wonder all he oozes all the time are things that belong to the dark side. No ishiba bwino, limbi umulumendo nindoshi!

  24. Don’t fuul yourself BIG MOUTH! GBM made his headlines even while Sata was still alive. Please check the English dictionary for a better adjective. “Coward” and “reject” would be more of antonyms, I presume!

  25. DAVIS WHO IN THE PF COULD HAVE THE BALLS TO STAND UP TO THE LATE MCS APART FROM GBM?

  26. Zambia paid $38.4 million to banks to borrow third Eurobond – Bloomberg
International news agency Bloomberg reports that Zambia’s transaction costs surged almost forty-fold for its third Eurobond issue, managed by Barclays Plc and Deutsche Bank AG, the prospectus for the deal shows.
Zambia paid $38.4 million in management fees, underwriting commissions and other unspecified expenses for the $1.25 billion sale, the document shows. That compares with transaction costs of $1.4 million for its first offering in 2012.
Yields on the latest Eurobond were 9.38 percent at sale, making it the most expensive dollar debt issuance for an African government. They climbed to 9.67 percent on Tuesday. Zambia, Africa’s second-biggest copper producer, had to pay up as prices for the metal slid to…

  27. to six-year lows and its fiscal deficit eclipsed government’s targets.
The shortfall will rise to 6.9 percent this year from a budgeted target of 4.6 percent, according to the prospectus.

  28. Money can buy a prosititutes time but not her love. GBM assumes that attention to his money by HH and team equates to support from the masses. A few thugs on payroll doesn’t win an election. You need registered voters.

THe dim wit was in cabinet for 3 years and didnt do crap for us. Now all of the sudden he’s the supposed to be the best thing since Tip Top and Tarino.

He can take his money and shove it up his ample posterior
