Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe has castigated opposition members for politicizing the construction of township roads which are about to commence in Kasama district.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS today, Mr Sikazwe said Government is committed to ensuring that the roads are upgraded to bituminous standard as soon as the variations are done by the Road Development Agency (RDA).

Mr. Sikazwe advised politicians to conduct issue based campaigns instead of talking about township roads which government intends to work on in the area.

The Minister revealed that the project is part of the terminated contract which was awarded to CADG Construction Company.

He said government terminated the contract for CADG due to failure to abide by the contract agreement.

Mr. Sikazwe explained that government through the RDA is doing a variation on the township roads so that works could start soon.

He said political parties should not feel that the programme is a campaign strategy especially that works are expected to go on during campaigns in Kasama Central constituency.

The Minister has also urged residents to ignore politicians trying to politicize the positive developments being undertaken by the Government in the area.

  2. Is Mbala district in the RDA budget for township road up grading to tarmac. Four years down the line we continue swallowing dust day and night

  3. 4 years now, no good roads in Kasamba. Just pave those roads we are tired of excuses and blaming the opposition when opposiom point out what you have failed to do

  4. One thing true about Zambian Politics is that where a political party is strong, then expect few developmental projects, but where there is much opposition, you expect the party in power to apply itself to convince voters in those constituencies that they can make things change or move. Since SATA’s demise most of the developmental projects in the North have stalled and the concetration has gone to the West of the country where there was a massive NO vote. It is even going to be more significant if the 50 + 1 close will be brought on board. Southern Province has got a good share of its development agenda, and for those people, they are not even worried even if they remain un – attended because they are self resourceful. What this means is that people from provinces should analyse ssues
