Former Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) appeared in the Kasama Magistrate Court today after he was earlier in the day arrested by police and charged with two counts of assault contrary to the law.

Mr. Mwamba is accused of occasioning actual bodily harm of two Patriotic Front members in Kasama contrary to section 248 Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence were that on August 5,, 2015, Mr. Mwamba whilst acting together with other persons unknown allegedly assaulted Emma Chungu 21, and Yvonne Musonda 23 both of Kasama District.
The former Kasama lawmaker, who appeared before Magistrate Samuel Mumba for plea, has since denied the charge of assault slapped on him.

Magistrate Mumba has since adjourned the matter to September 28,2015, for commencement of trial.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwamba, who was represented by his lawyer Muleya Kabesha of Kabesha and company, has been granted a K5, 000 bail in his own recognizance with two working sureties.

Earlier, Mr. Mwamba, who is also UPND vice president for Administration, was summoned at Kasama Central police station for questioning relating to the assault of two PF members.

He was later arrested and charged with assault contrary to the law.

    • That’s PF cadres who unfortunately, were enshrined with pathogens features(PF), or sorry, Power!

I give Pathetic Failures (PF) a Tombstone!

      RIP PF!

      The Undertaker.

    • SELECTIVE JUSTICE. I remember when he was in the ruling PF, he would assault his wife, and a few others and everyone turned a blind eye to it… Now he is ordinary enough to stand trial, i guess we just have to wait for that one who shot someone to leave PF for them to stand trial,,, i want to join the ruling party, looks like it comes with immunity too…

    • Ba LT please don’t lose credibility over simple things, you should be above any political party and report truthfully. Is GBM, in the picture, waiving a PF symbol???

    • Those were not PF caders he assaulted. They were unknown criminals dressed in PF regalia and sent by the opposition. Ask Chagwa.

    • they have made themselves so cheap threatening everyone. Lungu is digging his own Grave?? with his stupid PF party. RIP

  1. This id1ot called GBM and ule Edith Nawakwi must be arrested and sent to chimbokaila bcoz we need peace in Zambia!!Our country is bigger than these few id10ts in opposition!!

    • Pf cadres who almost attacked kachema on the cb were brought to book by the same police so what’s so special about dumbo.

  2. Emma Chungu 21,Yvonne Musonda 23, pf has reduced the youths of this country to nothing but cadres, for that matter ladies, this is one age group when people should be so productive and contribute to the economy, these two kids should have been somewhere at that time working, doing business or at school, but due to lack of vision for our country pf. would rather have. them remain cadres and poor, easy to manipulate. It for youths to wake up in this country.

    • Instead of condemning this elephant for attacking young girls, you find it prudent to waffle around such a serious issue – and this is a VP for administration for someone aspiring to be President next year.

    • At 21 or 23 years I would be bettering myself (in college) than following politicians and get bitten. Surely these young girls should have been at PAUL MUSHINDO University studying than being cadres. But they see there uneducated leaders and think that education is a waste of time. That is why we end up with the likes of kambwili and Mumbi Phiri as our leaders ,..very laughable

  3. Political parties should desist from using GBV just to intimidate voters in order to gain power….since the case is in court, justice will surely prevail.

  4. Well meaning Zambians should condemn Edgar
Lungu for selective justice. Instead of
arresting Davies Chama a hard core criminal,
our HIV infected President chose to intimidate
GBM all because of the embsrssing loss in the
    Bululu Ward Election in Kasama.
    What a very useless President.
And for Stella Libongani, I think this lesbian
woman police is failing the Zambian People.
She should tell us why she has allowed herself
to be used like a condom by the sick
    drunkard.
You foolish imbecile woman, arrest Davies
Chama also or you should resign. Stela
Chilibongani is a very useless Lady.

  5. I think we are all tired of PF. How can GBM assault a 21 and 23 yrs? What were these kids doing to GBM? Zambians should kick PF out soon

  6. I am calling on all well meaning Zambians across the country to rise and ask President Lungu why he has decided to order the vulnerable police to arrest GBM leaving Davies Chama, a renowned criminal.

Edgar Lungu should not apply selective justice to the Zambian people. The only problem with our president is that sometimes he does not behave as a nomal person. He is such a demon possessed man who does things according to the will of the devil and not God. Surely, people have been crying to say they want Davies Chama arrested but up to now, nothing has been done.
I think its time as Zambia we stand up and claim what belongs to us. Edgar Lungu has failed us.

  7. I really cannot figure how this fat boy can assault anyone.

Maybe I should give here, a simple lesson on how to handle aggressive fat boys. You give them a ‘sweeper’. Like in football when you kick your opponent’s legs from the front and send them flying onto the ground. And here’s the sweet part. Once a fat boy like GBM is on the ground, he can’t get up. End of story.

  8. There is no case here, these are fake issue aimed at intimidating the opposition. We all want to see that big header man behind behind bars for shoting somebody. It is a piti that our country has been tuned into a Violent political field with men and women of questionable morals. On the other hand, if indeed GBM assaulted those young women, Let him face the law as per requirement.

  9. But when Kanene beat up the wife for failing to honor her marital obligations, every Jim and Jack was on him.Remember GBM has a CV of GBV.And that is the reputation of an aspiring VP.He is a thug who thrives and enjoys violence. It’s in his blood.Ati I beat my wife because I love her.

    • @ man chills- you are half right that if GBM assalted those girls be should be arrested. But Chama shot people in daylight and was not arrested. That is the issue of selective justice that people are complaining about. You and I know that a good and prosperous society is where “no man is above the law ” and “all men are equal and the law” which is currently not the case in Zambia.

  10. Though i do not support violence perpetrated by whoever, powerful or powerless, i think being selective in dealing wirh it is equally unfair and downright dangerous. I for one plead for the police leadership to act professional, if we are to keep our peace.

  11. Lusaka Times you are very stuuupid!!! Is that a PF symbol GBM was waving?

    Mulekwatako insoni olo ni biasness

2016, its UPND all over the show

  12. Patriotic Foolishness selectivity at play. More to come…the inspector general of police is now Edgar Lungu on top of ministry of defence.

  13. This forum is not for insults ba UP and DOWN……Why should you support some one as fat as he is to be beating small girls and you think Zambians will vote for you….you are day dreaming.Just imagine the bitter lesson you have learnt in Bangweulu ! where you are even beaten by Nawakwi…..are you not ashamed of yourselves ?

    • Dear Bloggers it’s very unfortunate to see people siding with violence . How can you have a leader publicly inciting violence . I think let’s oppose constructively what is wrong is wrong . And have noticed one person on the people posting who delights in insulting let me tell you God is watching you and you shall reap the fruits of your tongue . You are bitter but sinning all the time . These are politics lets not lose our minds and morals .

  14. Stupid *****s,why failed to arrest chama who shot a upnd cadre in mulobezi, but pursuing gbm cos chagwa knws that kasama still remains in his hands, findings ways of blocking him, shame pf, northern prov is no longer yo stronghood, come 2016 upnd shall get 3/4 of all votes,1/4 rainbow, pf 0.5 votes, reliese gbm this story is a cooked one that all u have failed to arrest criminals dressed in pf ligaria, now resolted to accsusing the oppositio shame mwemafi pf

    • Victor M you are a fool . Do not delight in insults . What are going to do when you lose next year run away coz of your careless talk . Find a job to do if things are tough so that you can add value to the development of this country . . Lazy bum .

  15. If you hate Chama as UP and Down,is it a passport for you to be beating up women ? Since when did your tribal party become famous in Northern province ? Get ready for your ka small tribal party which you are coating with GBV to exit in 2016.

  16. Actually Chama is hated because he is giving the opposition headache especially up and down party.PF is becoming popular every day because the SG is a good strategist and they are feeling the heat…..all parliamentary elections they are losing and its a great source of worry to them.Mr Chama you are a hero and a straight forward man.Keep it up because victory for your party is assured in 2016 !

  17. SINCE DISASTROUS LOSS OF KAPITA HH IS PANICKING AND BRINGIN SUCH DANGEROUS CHARACTERS AS GBM WHO WERE A LIABILITY TO MMD, TO PF AND NOW A HUGE LIABILITY TO UPND.

THEY ARE ALREADY KNOWN AS A VIOLENT PARTY BUT NOW WITH GBM ON BOARD ITS CONFIRMED THAT BAFUMA DRAW NABA PF.

  18. Who are you gbm to be causing confusions in the country?you dog.you think you are immuned from been arrested you be arrested foolish

  19. @Patrick, duh! When you shoot in self defence you cannot be arrested. You arrest the shot-at agitators instead. That is not selective justice.
