Zambia’s High Commissioner Designate to South Africa, His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba meets former Zambian President Mr. Rupiah Banda when the latter arrived at Oliver Tambo International Airport

FORMER President Rupiah Banda says Zambians should be proud of President Lungu because he has raised the profile of the country.

Mr Banda said yesterday that President Lungu is doing his best to put the country on the world map as evidenced by people coming to Zambia.

Some of the presidents who have come to Zambia since January this year are Jakaya Kikwete (Tanzania), Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), Peter Mutharika (Malawi) and Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe).
Mr Banda urged Zambians to support the President for peace and unity to continue flourishing in the country.

“As Zambians, we should be proud of President Lungu, he is doing his best to put the country on the world map as evidenced from the arrivals here at the airport. I am in good relations with him and the respect I get from him sometimes makes me feel like I do not deserve it even if I am a former President. He also has lots of respect for humanity,” Mr Banda said.

And Mr Banda said his relationship with Preident Lungu is sound, dismissing claims that he had differed with the President.

He said the reports that the relationship had soured were false as the two are enjoying a good relationship and have mutual respect for each.

The former President said President Lungu has a lot of respect for him.

Meanwhile, former First Lady Thandiwe Banda says she is alive, well and enjoying good health.
Speaking on arrival from South Africa yesterday, Mrs Banda said she has been cleared of cancer by doctors though she is expected to go for check-ups every six months.

Mrs Banda, who was in the company of her husband, Rupiah, thanked Zambians for their prayers, support and love rendered to her and the family.

“I am happy to inform you that I have been cleared of cancer by doctors and I am happy to be back home,” Mrs Banda said.

Last week, there were reports on social media that Mrs Banda had died.

Commenting on the speculations that his wife had died, Mr Banda said the culture of rejoicing when one is unwell must be discouraged.

“Zambians are known for caring for each other and when someone is sick or has a funeral, Zambians are known to show love, support and care in such times,” Mr Banda said.

Mr Banda said to learn that some sections of the media could claim that his wife had died when she is alive is shocking and ‘unZambian’.

“It is very ‘unZambian’ to rejoice if something tragic has happened. Fortunately with us, here we are, your prayers have been answered,” Mr Banda said.

  1. Surely is this the best he can do? I was thinking there is room for the brother to up his game before the country undergoes total economical annihilation.
I will say this honestly;going by what I have seen so far, then his “best” is not good enough!

  2. Comment: What profile mr banda sir,are these presidnts brought anythin to zed, when high profile presidnts have rejected yo student, recently President Obama visited kenya for entrepreneurship training other dignated heads of state were invited but yo chagwa wasnt, Obama later flew to Ethiopia were he met AU heads of state &govt but yo chagwa prefered to go to uganda visiting a long african dictator museveni, the country’s intl profile has been damaged due to reckless borrowing ama euro bonds which have failed to yield results, zesco limping,ZR limping, lsk towbship roads limping funded tha borrowd money, plz Mr RB yo economy was better off than this student of yours’economy, advuse him,let his cadres whom he has describes as criminals deal with them otherwise my observation is that he has…

    • How much per week is Emmanuel Mwamba paying per week to LT? Are there no ambassadors in Europe or Latin America? What about soccer, because a match between Mufulira Wonders vs Zesco is much more valuable than that idyyyot Mwamba.

    • Please RB stop your cheap talk, just say you are proud because you are off the corruption case which Sata would have locked you in for.

Its so sad to see such nonsense. The man is Evil

  3. I surely ain’t seen the fruit of that labor. I suppose RB must have been smoking because his reality is far from the truth – the country is worse off than it was even under his rule.

  4. This is f000kush indeed, are these the presidents one can judge that the profile of the country has been raised? Cant we do better?

  5. Rupiah Nyamasoya Banda has a reason for being proud of the dictator Kachasu Man. His corruption cases have been dropped, and his son Henry has once more started enjoying back door tenders and his immunity is almost getting lifted. He has also managed to hond Mutembo Nchito and victime Mmembe and Mathan. But what about ordinary Zambians that are going for days without food? Can they really be proud of Edgar Lungu? Never, may be after his burial, definitely not now.
How can Rupiah Banda tell us yo be proud of the failed President.
Ba Zambia Reports, kindly ask the lazy chibuku man why he chose to quickly arrest the innocent GBM leaving the Most Wanted Murderer Hard Core Criminal Davies Chama; the son of Jonas Savimbi.
Rupiah Banda is just as useless and hated as Edgar Lungu the HIV…

  6. Has the former President started smoking Chamba! What is it that people should be proud of this Jameson drunken master? We know Bwezani the way he help in destroying Political Parties the way he has done with MMD lately it will be PF which was formed by the Late Sata(RIP).He is going to make sure PF will never exist in ZED!May be he was allucinating when he said that.

  7. its true that defense minister Lungu is putting Zambia on the world map. failed leadership is the best way of putting a country on world map..look at Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq, Zimbabwe and Burundi, they are all on the world map.

  8. I agree with RB. President Lungu is trying for Zambia.
Too many bitter UPND supporters on this site I can see. Nothing the President does will ever be right and you hate RB even more for supporting EL !!!!! President Lungu will carry on as President even beyond 2016, shame on you sad lot!

  9. But my advice to you RB is that you must keep quiet as a former president and distance yourself from politics now.You did well to endorse ECL in the Bye elections and you have been rewarded as evidenced by your acquittal by the courts of law in the Nigerian oil deal.So shut up now let ECL apply modern techniques to run this country not you.you are now a dinosaur

  10. RB is correct.EL has indeed raised the profile of Zambia. Its only the ungrateful UPND chaps who are ever bitter and pretend like they are not seeing the good things PF is doing. They will cry loudest in 2016 when they lose again.

  11. RB is a Zambian and has the right to comment on the national affairs of this country.Your ka newspaper tried to criticize him daily but you have failed and your bitterness will not take you any where ok !

  12. If one Rupiah Banda is praising you then somewhere, somehow you are doing something right in his corrupt criminal world that is furthering their riches.

  13. Upnd chaps are the ones trading false stories about Mrs Banda because they take pride in the death and suffering of others. Truth remains truth hh will never be president in our generation. You can insult as much as you want but a bitter and hurting mind will always affect the one harbouring it. Ifwe tulimu injoyi. If you are suffering tell yo kachema and dumbo to give you tandizo.

  14. RB Zambians are intelligent enough to gauge for the themselves. Lungu Changwa for me has raised nothing! Best president in Zambia was Levy Patrick Mwanawasa.

  15. So because the neighbouring ex and current presidents have visited Zambia, then the profile of the country has been raised?

These heads of states’ countries are not ones whose economies we can admire, are are equally reeking of the same ills as Zambia is, call birds of the same feather!

I suppose he has a vested interest, and therefore he will say to please the feeding finger.

Am I bitter, no just sad at the way the national affairs are being run down.

  16. Rupiah: Today I can confirm that President Lungu manipulated the judiciary for me to be set free from that Nigerian oil deal case
Lungu:Imwe na imwe osakambakamba muzaleka Pilato akatenge ina yakudala nyimbo akaimbe ati “Imisango yaba Pulezidenti, Umwina Chipata nga aiba, bamutuma naku Jozi Dora Siliya nga aiba bamutuma kuti Kasama
    Mukuspier HH na GBM

  17. Yamunyopola njala uyu RB uyu. RB you might be evading the ZAMBIAN Law today but one day it will catch up with you mambala iwe with Henry and you’ll cry louder than THAT fateful day.

  18. Kanitundila Banda, which Zambian should be happy with Jameson Lungu!!
If he pays you to go for medical school in South Africa , just shut up. Why doesn’t Kaunda go out for medical check up? Continue leaking chagwa ‘ wounds!

  19. Zambia’s profile will be said raised if we export goods and products to balance our books and manufacture goods that we need than import from borrowed funds or mortgages! Only those seeing the light in these dark times of nation can be proud of some clueless head. Can only imagine that this fellow is a former leader, and people still sing for these m0r0ns when there are no drugs in hospitals. A friend told me simple imaging diagnosis at uth, isn’t working and if it’s only the few connected can benefit. By the way, is his chakolwa goes for medical exams out of the country?

  20. ECL has really raised Zambia’s profile. When was the last time we had a President opening the Trade Fair and the Lusaka Agriculture Show? I have been so inspired by ECL who is very hard working. People have eyes and can see. This president is performing. There will be desperate people who want to bring the man down, and can do anything even negative speculation to destroy the Kwacha but they will fail. The Zambia’s economy has not collapsed. Please UPND and your Cartel bed fellows, Dont tell Lies. Load shedding is happening in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa. Here in Zambia ECL takes the blame! What will happen in December when the Water Levels become high and Load Shedding Stops? What will happen when the Kwacha starts gaining against the Dollar ?

    • For sure you are a Monkey in the maize field, you like stealing other peoples crops same as RB & Jameson Chagwa who are miss using Tax payers money!wake up iwe kabwalala

  21. ECL has raised Zambia’s profile? That is why many President’s have visited Zambia? In 7 months, ECL has made 16 foreign trips. What have these trips brought to Zambia? Do we eat visiting Presidents? Do they pay our school fees? ECL has been employed to find employment for Zambians. Obama creates 250,000 new jobs per month. How many has Lungu created? If a thief praises you, then know that you are held in very low esteem by every right thinking person. The situation as it exists now is that you cannot get a Government contract unless you are connected to the ruling party. That is very sad. RB says what he says becoz he is a direct beneficiary.

  22. Gemfields & Himself RB should be proud of ECL.As 4 Gemfields,he has allowed them to auction emeralds in Singapore instead of here in Zambia without imforming the nation writing off Sata’s stance in this matter. The stones will leave this country any time this month frm KAGEM Mine.So ba Lusaka Times investigate this story thoroughly and expose Chagwa. As for RB your court cases have been dropped over writing Sata wish to punish corrupt *****s.Lusaka Times find out for us frm secretary to the Cabinet when the meeting was convened to lift the ban on auctioning emeralds out side Zambia or ask Chishimba Kambwili to explain to the nation.
