Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba has appealed to Zambian diplomats not to engage in activities which can injure the country’s reputation in foreign countries.

Mr. Kalaba said Zambian diplomats must lead exemplary lives and ensure that they promote Zambia’s interests abroad.

He was speaking when he addressed Zambian diplomats at the Zambian Mission in Lubumbashi yesterday during a handover of five government houses for diplomats which were recently rehabilitated to reduce government expenditure on rentals in missions abroad.

Mr. Kalaba said diplomats must work hard and exhibit good conduct to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries adding that Lubumbashi was a Strategic Mission as it provided a link between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

This is according to a press statement availed to ZANIS by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Public Relations Officer Dorcas Chileshe.

During his visit, Mr. Kalaba also met Zambians living in Lubumbashi to get views on the diaspora policy which government is formulating.

The Minister urged Zambians to ensure that they visit their home country regularly and contribute to national development through the various investment opportunities available in Zambia.

Mr. Kalaba also encouraged them to allow their children to visit Zambia often for them to connect with family members back home.

Lubumbashi is situated in Katanga Province which has more than 50,000 Zambians.

  2. Emmanuel Mwamba, the drunk in New York, Frank Mutubila and the rest! Zambian diplomatic service has lost its class and is now full of cadres who failed to make inroads back home. They are at their posts to have a good time.

  3. Who is this jack a-s-s cautioning? Did he not just get out of the Lower Zambezi fraud scheme where he wanted to convert a Lwer Zambezi National Park to mining? And the Fraggle Rock cartoon look alike Jean Kapata and her Trophy Hunting money laundering schemes. She benefits from bribes from international hunters and the reason she lifted the hunting ban. A bunch of thieves who are very corrupt individuals. They both have no brains yet have big titles to feed their ego’s. Jean Kapata please tell us how you are going to discipline ZAWA officials for the abuse they inflicted on villagers by beating even women and children.
