GOVERNMENT says it is aware of a scheme and union of convenience by a cartel formed by a “desperate” opposition political party and a newspaper aimed at wrestling power from the Patriotic Front (PF).

Chief government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said the cartel is desperate and making panicky efforts to hoodwink and influence people’s minds through negative portrayal of the PF administration.

Mr Kambwili, who is Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.

“We are aware of a cartel that has been formed mainly to discredit Government at all costs. Just observe the way they have been covering President Edgar Lungu,” he said.

Mr Kambwili said the people of Zambia are now aware of what they want and can no longer be cheated through negative publicity in some sections of the media.

He said the cartel has for a long time been trying to sway the thinking of the people by attacking President Lungu at any given opportunity.

Mr Kambwili said the newspaper in the cartel is now recording declining sales because people have lost interest in its manner of reporting.

He said the newspaper’s belief that it can influence readers’ opinions is misplaced and ineffective.

Mr Kambwili said people in Zambia are now in a position to make informed decisions.

And commenting on Father Leonard Chiti’s attacks on the PF government, Mr Kambwili advised Fr Chiti to concentrate on preaching the word of God or join politics.

“Fr Chiti is a United Party for National Development sympathiser, hence should not be taken seriously, especially when he attacks the PF,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili said the Chuundu Chaitwa organising committee has their right to either accept or reject the apology rendered by Government through Vice-President Inonge Wina over remarks made by PF secretary general Davies Chama.

Mr Kambwili said the apology that was made by government is sincere and that the resolutions of the committee should be respected.

  1. Chimbwili, Chimbwiii, Chimbwiii! As thick as Idi Amin and just as drunk with power. Mmembe is testing the hypothesis that the Post brought Sata and PFools to power in 2011. Now he is trying that again with Rainbow Party. There’s nothing wrong with that as PFools failed to maintain the Cartel of which Sata was leader. Now just bear the consequences.

    • I think Kambwili is the cartel himself who wants to steal from Zambians. Yes at all costs we want PF out because of Ministers just like him, they talk rubbish with little to offer??

Wait until real campaigns start. we will make sure PF feel it and breakaways will start. They are a party that has failed Zambians completely. all they have brought is tribalism and hate..

    • Ba Kambwili – is that strange? That is precisely the aim of opposition politics: to wrestle power from the government by swaying the public, so they can be voted into government!

    • CK there is no cartel but ECL. In the worst of situations great leaders have inspired their people to rise above their problems & concur.
We have a myriad of problems but ECL looks like a headless chicken.
Let ECL take a leaf from FTJ’s leadership after Gabon disaster maybe he will know how great men behave amidst a crisis, they give hope. The situation we are faced with now is worse than Gabon.

  2. Father Chiti can not influence voters to vote out the PF….. he failed in January with his slogan of no constitution no vote……. Moreover he is UPND…… why cant he take up a position as UPND spokesperson

    • There is no desperation from the imaginary “cartel”. What is true is that the kwacha has lost value, we are being lungushed everyday, Companies are laying off workers, govt is buying wrong crude oil, govt is not buying maize from the farmers, fuel is too expensive…Kambwili, please with your visionless Edgar change the status quo. If you do that no matter what the “cartel” says you will govern, but I am afraid all indicators are that you are packing next year

  3. Well spoken Hon Kambwili.Zambians are aware of this Cartel and their ka newspaper. It is a failed project and they will never succeed.Every day they quote the same few disgruntled individuals to discredit govt. They are useless hypocrites.

  4. Are they not seeing the good roads, clinics, schools etc that govt is doing ? If that is not development, what is it that they will do differently to constitute development ? They are liars and crooks and no one will vote for them no matter how much noise they will make.

    • I almost fainted when I first read your comment. In your opinion roads, clinics, schools etc that govt is doing constitute development? What type of ignorance is this? I encourage you to go back to school. You are the same people who are misleading Zambians that road infrastructure is development. What development is there when going to UTH, the country’s highest level referral hospital is the same as a death sentence, a place where you take your sick alive but bring them out in a casket? What type of development is this where you walk along dual carriage ways in pain from a curable infection like cervical cancer just because the failed PF wants roads instead of investing in Radiotherapy equipment and personnel in the theatres at UTH? What development is there where our people only have…

    • Which roads, clinics and schools? The ones which are present only in simpletons sick and disturbed minds?
Wake-up and show us where US$ 3 BILLIONS and 5 BILLIONS of Kwacha are gone? Updating of UTH, KKIA, helping SME? Paying UNZA and CBU staff?

  5. Ofcourse it is wrestling match. 1.Mr. Kambwili you will not step down willingly either inspite of your poor showing. 2. There are always two sides of an issue. It can be said your government is also desperate to appear relevant.
    3. When the clergymen praise you or the government, you do not invite them to join politics; that they have criticised, you want them to be politicians, …….what shameless hypocrisy!
4.Your Secretary General of PF is not in government; how does government come in to apologise on somebody’s behalf who has not shown remorse and refused to apologise personally and still stands by what he said. For a moment think Mr. Kambwili, you are making government look cheap and unreasonable.

  6. Misango ya Ba chaimain how many times have you showered insults and yet you hide on this social media . Why should you force someone to apologise every day talking about the same thing . How many times have people said negative remarks about other tribes and yet no one has been crying for any apology from these tribes . Give people a break and move forward we are one Zambia one nation .

    • Dumbo its you that need to give people a break. If one tribe accepts stupidity and idiocy it does not mean any other tribe should fall for that. This kind of thinking is what has led this beautiful country to accept law level kind of leadership. Under KK Chama would have been fired whilst he was still in Mulobezi. My friend moving forward under one Zambia One Nation requires leadership of intergrity not thi rubbish we are being subjected to.

    • @Dumbo. Check the story and let us know who raised the Chama apology issue first; me or Kambwili?. I can’t see you either; are you hiding? As to insulting? I think you are redefining the word, there is no insult in my blog.

  7. The cartel is part of many zambians feeling the pinch of the poor economy under pf. There is need for a very strong team to reverse the mess pf has caused. It is not a question of wrestling power from pf but making zambia a better country than the way it is at present.

  8. Mmembe azafuta with his hatred for Lungu. The man is behaving and writing crazy . lungu this, lungu that everyday writing trash!.plz give us a break ba kartel.

  9. Why should PF panic if you genuinely feel that you are performing? Let the people decide. Political realigments of the opposition should not deter your cause. Notwithstanding, the guilty are always afraid.

  10. Double standards, when the Church praises you, it’s well deserved but when they criticize then they are part of the cartel. Take criticisim in equal measure with praise, then you know you are governing objectively.

  11. Ba Kambwili stop attacking ba Fr Chiti. You are one of the worst MP in PF.
Can’t you see that PF has destroyed the economy.
Who told you that there is a cartel. No wonder the late SATA was saying you are all useless (MPs).
You said you will not work with DORA but you are still in PF.
If you are honest leave PF and join another party of form your own party.
    Ulicipuba amano tamwaba.

    • Someone said “I would rather sell my soul to the Devil than working with Dora” Balikunyunya mukamba wandi………..Learn to control your tongue. Did you succeed to fire the Lecturers at CBU? You are just digging your grave bra. Your days are numbered just on one hand.

  12. Misango yaba chairman aka zioneke you amaze me . Sorry that I do not engage in conversations with bitter people that are soaked in hatred .

  13. Time up!
I agree with big farter ka Leopard.Zambians will not be fooled by headless chickens in PF. The same paper that supported you has now seen thru your lies! All those that were with you are leaving.Zambians have seen thru your empty arses. Kuya bebele.
yes indeed! time up for headless, self confessed vision less Pathetic Fools.
Yes indeed Zambians arwe the cartel.
Make haste whilst the sun shines…

  14. The battle-line has now been drawn. PF knows the consiquence of losing power and tthey are as desperate as the CARTEL. There will be tears more than we’ve seen before. The PF will spend government money, they’ll steal and do all under the sun to hold onto power. We’ll see blood sweat and toil. The winner will take all. Dirty will be there for all to see.

  15. Fellow Zambians lets stand shoulder to shoulder and remove this PF cancer from Zambia.PF is a cartel of criminals pretending to be leaders when infact they are worst Government that has ever existed in Zambia. We know there gimmick of using words like tribalism against other tribes and calling others cartel,to try and create hate against the true opposition and Government in waiting.UPND now has a national character and see no reason any Zambian can call it Tonga. Is GBM tonga,is Nalumango Tonga or Canisious Banda Tonga.Zambians lets open our eyes and move forward. When all other countries including Zimbabwe are developing us we are becoming poor.

  16. Chishimba Kambwili knows that the tribal and corrupt PF won’t win the 2016 elections so he wants to mislead the electorate into believing that his former PF friends have undermined his useless party. The PF is too unpopular,no amount of campaigning can revive it.

  17. This cartel can’t take over Pf party they are just wasting their own time as you know that people like Guy Scott have no impact in Zambian politics he is an old finished white man.He is very useless and foolish

  18. I admire President Lungu as a man who dared to take on the cartel that has sought to manipulate state institutions. The privately -owned mouthpiece of the cartel, the Post, will not have told you that Finance Bank has an illegal shareholding structure. These cartel gate-keepers (Mmembe e’tal) have been promulgating a false identity based on a false narrative that every President that refuses to worship them is corrupt. What is a human rights record? Mmembe and those in the cartel think letting same-sex couples raise children is a top human right. This is what the fight is about, the cartel backed by neo – colonizers want to destroy the moral fabric of Zambia. But let it be said to the cartel lackeys of the likes of HH, Guy and Kabimba: Zambians are a unique species, and the country is…

  19. Ba Kambwii….it is not Zambian culture for my wife to apologise on my behalf. I should be man enough to do it myself. Davies is a F00L……

  20. Cont’d…….
Zambians are a unique species, and the country is capable of unlimited improvement. HH can’t fight the cartel, he is part of them, and his core task is to represent foreign capital interests in a country where copper barons are controlling a major resource.

  21. Chimbwi Kambwili, just shut up, leave the father alone, you are a cartel yourself, show us leadership? Nothing , load shedding in pamushi, Kwacha, mwaonaula, not jobs, Kambwili , niwe kabwafye, ulebosa, no one will listen to you, don’t bark, we don’t want to listen to you.

  22. Problem in Zambia is not the government, but they people. We all very well know that the UPND will lose to the PF. Here we are supporting an ego in HH who has no qualifications for being president. President Edgar Lungu who cannot change two positions at ministry of finance and agriculture to revamp Zambia. Yet we bicker and fight amongst ourselves. Grow up and vote for real politicians with a brain.

  23. Kashimba chimbwili is like a dog with rabies backing carelessly as he passes gas continually like rotten eggs.. Filya u know.

  24. Every day I pick up the Post newspapers or ZWD, I read about poor souls being used by mmembe’s cartel to spread lies about Edgar Lungu. You hear lies these repeated, often by people who don’t know their source, but who would rather be overheard repeating these lies, because they think it will make them popular. Don’t believe the lies about Edgar Lungu. Get the facts!

    • M’membe and his minions must pay back the DBZ loan. That’s the cracks of the matter, when Edger Lungu during the presidential campaigns promised to make “certain people pay what they own” the state institutions (ZRA, DBZ, NAC, etc.) Fred Namakando M’membe’s cartel fiercely de-campaigned him. This is because some loans were backed by individuals themselves (As Collateral) such as Mutembo Nchito, Fred M’membe etc.. These loans since then groan big such that they cant afford to pay back, they will run bankrupt.

  25. You shall know them by their fruits. the time our moral zambia votes for wicked men into power, the effect and loses would be a great mess than the declining economy

  26. Every year ni cartel, cartel, cartel, cartel. Is it the lack of grammar that makes you invent and re-invent cartel?

  27. For sure Mmembe is finished. While PF may have problems but we know what Namakando wants. It is not about helping people out of alleged suffering but to regain the control of state institutions and power that he has lost. It is all about control of power but fortunately Zambians now know. They use the corruption fight to hoodwink many and international community yet it is all about removing some popular and influential Zambians from the political equation by denting their names in unproven allegations. It is simply over for Mmembe. Look at him. Instead of at least supporting HH, he telling Zambians that discredited and embattled Kabimba (BID) is best alternative to ECL. what a fuss. This is how dwarfed his thinking is
