Republican President Edgar Lungu says his performance since assuming office early this year speaks for itself.

President Lungu says anyone can tell how much change has taken place in the country during the last seven months of leadership.

He says the number of foreign Heads of State that have visited Zambia in the last 7 months are a rating for anyone to see that Zambia’s international profile has improved.

President Lungu has cited his recent trip to Malawi as one such indicator that speaks for itself pertaining to his performance.

He notes that besides improving trade between Zambia and Malawi, he is certain such trips to neighboring countries will enable Zambia know what is happening in the region.

President Lungu says he does not want Zambia to lag behind in regional matters, stating that his desire is to see the country become a leader in the region.

And President Lungu has reiterated that traditional leaders play a critical role in reaching out to the common man on the street.

He says if government therefore involves traditional leaders in Zambia’s development agenda it is likely to achieve its goal.

The Head of State states that this is why he is usually encouraged to meet with chiefs and exchange notes with them on how they are fairing and inform them of how government is doing.
President Lungu was speaking to journalists in Lusaka this morning shortly before departure for North-Western Province for a scheduled two day visit to Solwezi and Zambezi districts.

He is accompanied by among other government and party officials Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda, Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda, Lands Minister Christabel Ngimbu and PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri.

  1. What are the economic achievements? Foreign relations are doing great under you and we are grateful as a nation. But what about the bread and butter issues, how are they going since you took office?

    • Twalimyebele bana, imwe ati ifintu ni Lungu. People need to be compelled to take IQ tests before being added onto voters register, when too many !diots are allowed to voted this is what you end up with -a confused President . I don’t feel embarrassed or hurt when i read such because I didn’t voted for this gentleman.

  2. This guy is deluded if he thinks a visit by a foreign president is development. It hurts to be Zambian right now when your president is so clueless

  3. This nincompoop of a president thinks the average Zambian is dull. What has the number of foreign presidents visiting Zambia got to do with the day to day challenges of a Zambian such as high cost of living, unemployment, lack of productivity due to perpetual load shedding, a weakening kwacha etc.? Nothing at all

Lungu – Unless you can prove that you have improved the above metrics, you will forever be considered a lazy drunk bum and perpetual enemy of the Zambian people

  4. @ Msana wanzili
Even in 2016, vote for your uncle Hakaivote Heka, you will still lose and terribly this time around. A country can only compare itself to its neighbors and other surrounding for it not to lag behind. You are the same chaps who cheat yourselves that your homes are the best simply because you have not yet visited others. When you do and find out that you are actually 100 years back, you just develop a heavy lump in your throats instead of acknowledge what you see.

Zambia is NOT an island and we need other people to come and see how we live and vice versa. That way we exchange ideas and improve where lag behind. PF and H.E. Edgar Chagwa Lungu are teaching us Zambians how to be self reliant instead of depending on handouts.
You are the chaps who tell your children that…

    • We’re in a downward death spiral as a country because of folks like you. You take politics and important civic duties such as voting for a joke, these are serious matters that need to be taken seriously. The person you’re calling Haka Hivotela is streets ahead of this clueless excuse you have for a President. Tell me, when did you last hear him make a serious policy statement? NEVER. I regret having campaigned and subsequently voted for these brainless gnomes in 2011.

  5. Which yardstick are you comparing yourself with? Don’t listen to your advisers so much, they will tell you what you want to hear. I’d rather you ask the people to voice their opinions, but don’t consider asking HH, Nawakwi and Mumba, because what they will tell you will surely make you sit under a tree and contemplate suicide to say the very list…

  7. Come on President Chagwa!!
As a Lawyer, you are more intelligent than this.
Zambian’s cannot eat visiting foreign leaders, or relations.
    Under your watch;
    1. corruption/ graft is up to endemic proportions, & there are no consequences for offenders, like the “Indeni Dirty Oil Scandal” Unless You took a cut, why are you not acting. Late Mwanawasa would have made heads roll.
    2. The economy is currently in free -fall, & the Kwacha is going down the pan faster than used toilet paper.
    3. Borrowing is unsustainable, & by the time U leave office, most of the borrowed cash woudl have been embezzled by your mob
    4. Increased Load Shedding. Is this what U see as development?
    5. UNZA is not open or functioning.
Could go on & on. This is NOT development.
HOPE YOU READ THIS. Good Day!

  8. All those foreign presidents who have so far visited Zambia came ONLY at your invitation mr Lungu. Yes in your seven months you have provided quiet leadership which has helped no Zambian except those you have appointed to positions. You are in office for 7 months and this is the situation: Debt unto $8b, Kwacha depreciated to levels unseen before, unprecedented Load-shedding, many infrastructure projects have stalled, you were receiving 2 salaries for 7 months (president and defence minister), the list is endless.

  9. But most of the Zambians have land-locked brains so they will believe what Alungu has said and vote for him, who has bewitched you (Zambia)? What Achievement of you so called performance that you think will speak for you? Why do you think we are all fools? You have made Zambia to be a HIPC candidate with your reckless Borrowing and you have the nerve to say performance will speak for itself? Youths with no employment, the economy is very bad, Dollar>kwacha, load-shading, so mr president which performance?

  10. Work Mr president don’t waste your time talking the performance of the economy will tell whether you are working or not

  11. MMD Chief Bootliker defend, supppliment and enumerate what Edgar Lungu as president has achieved. Phrases such as ‘my performance -speak- for-itself’ is misleading. Lay a fingrer on one substantial achievement for Zambians to see.

  12. I hope it is just media at it again reporting not as stated by Mr President. If however these words were from him, then i would say wrong timing. The majority only see what immediately and directly affects them like power cuts that cripple productivity, health services that are not getting any better, failing education system etc.The notable developments such as link zambia projects are overshadowed by the latest negative developments. So to say the works show for themselves is decampaigning oneself at this time.

  13. Just wondering when the one here touting himself on performance will give a press conference so that the citizens can hear directly from him what aspirations he harbors for the nation. The journalists would help the people of Zambia through probing questions on what they encounter daily in their line of duty as they try to inform the citizenry…………..

Well I may keep dreaming that Lungu will accord such an opportunity to his own pressmen for fear of being confronted on issues that are at the heart of people he is supposed to be serving for better and he lacks ideas for solutions!

  14. People ask about economic achievements as if it is the government which achieves economically. In a liberalized economy the government facilitates. its up to all private people to to respond. its like casting a net. its is a great job but it is not a guarantee that fish will be caught. the PF government has done a lot to provide an enabling environment. Unparalleled!!

  15. Very interesting, so you think that you are clever and President Lungu is styoped, well why are you not the President of Zambia then? Or your favorite opposition politician, I mean that one? The reason is simple, Presidents are chosen by the people to lead them and not necessarily to be more clever than them. People look for a leader who not only can lead them, but also relates to them genuinely and naturally, not relating to people by being seen to be boarding a minibus to Chainda with common people. Genuineness comes naturally, you do not have to feign or pretend! People or voters, will see through you and reject you.

  16. What performance ? Why are you so quick to dish out self praise after just weeks in office? Are you scared of 2016?

  17. Ala Ba President abaa!! The only comparison you are making is between you and your predecessor – a dead person! It is easy to visit heads of state as you do and get reciprocal visits! What have accelerated economically and socially to serve as your landmark achievement during campaigns next year?!! It is so disappointing that you have confirmed what you initially said and what others have been hitting on all the time that you have no vision! I thought you were misunderstood but now I can see….

  18. You are definitely a record breaker as far as presidential foreign trips are concerned, no will take that performance away from you, and Zambians will surely give you an award for that in 2016.

  19. @Msana Wanzil…If you have the audacity to insult voters when in opposition, what would you do if you were in power? It is people like you who give certain opposition parties a bad name.
