The opposition Rainbow Party has accused the Patriotic Front (PF) government of being desperate to show it is making progress in its infrastructure development agenda.

Rainbow Party president Leader Wynter Kabimba suspects that such desperation follows the PF government alleged misuse of public funds that were meant for the infrastructure projects late President Michael Sata initiated.

Speaking this morning at a media briefing held in Lusaka Mr. Kabimba says he believes that this is why the PF government is busy looking for fresh money to cover up for its misuse and squander of the public resources that were previously mobilized.

Mr. Kabimba states that he has no doubt that the PF government views the issuance of Eurobonds a window for potential cash cow to fund its 2016 general election campaign.

He says what the PF government is however doing is pushing Zambia back into a dangerous habit of borrowing beyond the economy’s means.

The Rainbow Party leader says this is because the contraction of debt through issuance of the Eurobonds has raised country’s foreign debt to US$6.05billion.

He notes that this is evidence enough to show that the PF government’s aim is to bankrupt the Zambian economy.

Mr. Kabimba has advised that the only way therefore to stop this from happening is to vote out the ruling PF before it inflicts more damage and destroys the livelihood of future generations.

    • He knows what PF can do and how they would raise their funds. He was part of them.. so let us not castigate him?? we need this information.. Go on Wynter.. Tell us more.

  1. @Ndobo. I am too blind to see who is talking but this voice sounds familiar to the one who was once so arrogant defending PF until some snake man dropped him from PF SG. How tables change!!

  2. When are the monies coming? The Malawian President has sent his Ministers to attend the SADC meeting but our ‘kamwendo munjila’ could not wait to pick the wife from the Zambezi plains for free beers in Botswana. The so called roads are all on stand still and I think Chikwanda and team will have to get back to his Euro Bond financiers to ask for more. These projects can not finish with the additional cost of the 2016 General elections.

  3. Poor man, who does not know your failures. At least we are seeing development. There investments will benefit the country in the long run. We would have been worried if the money was for subsidies.

  4. Comment: The best part of it is that very few are failing to see what this govt is doing. What new things can kabimba bring which he did not bring? How can you change a working govt.

  5. ….it is often said that for you to know how a hippo lives in the river ask the crocodile….even if the croc has left the river for land…..what Kabimba is saying must be taken seriously…he still has very close allies with the senior ranks of PF…..there are a few Rainbow sympathisers still within PF just waiting for the parly to dissolve and jump off the ‘boat’… so what he is saying maybe a first hand information…….this nature of being a nation of naïve…gullible..and sleepy citizens is really ‘eating’ us up….
Look at the reaction of Brazilians…even if they wont succeed in their quest to correct the rot..at least they will have been heard that ‘they are fully awake and are watching’ what is going oh…..

  6. Mumbi Phiri was on TV last night saying the PF pumped part of the eurobond into the chishimba falls. Had it not been for the seriousness of the situation I would have laughed myself off to sleep.

  7. I suggest that the govt. should give an account of how the these funds have been utilised… Why is it that there so many stalled projects? Why is the govt. castigating local contractors for leaving construction sites for non-payments of certified works? It is obvious that local contractors cannot be compared to Chinese contractors who have ready access to cash from the Bank of China and are thus able to continue working even when govt. has not paid them!

  8. Kabimba ifyakunya fye! You were busy saying Zambians are going to see the most infrastructure development they have ever seen during the PF rule. This is when the wind favoured you. Now you use the same lips and tongue to twist and claim abuse of public resources. Remember that at one time you were accused of receiving corruption kickbacks from oil procurements. Is this not a case of being disgruntled now that you are nolonger part of the inner circle? You tested power and it went to your head, just wait until after 2016 then realism will hit home and soberness will engulf you.
Zambia is not a football tournament to have different champions every season, so please give us a break.
