The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is not intimidated by the decision by the ruling Patriotic Front to adopt President Edgar Lungu as its presidential candidate for the 2016 General Elections.

UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo tells QFM News via telephone that in fact it will be easier for the party to remove the PF from office because of the failure by President Lungu to manage the affairs of the country.

Mr. Lifwekelo has challenged the PF government to even call for early elections so that they exit office soon.

And Mr. Lifwekelo has lashed out at PF Secretary General Davies Chama that it is not his responsibility to tell the party to go to the national convention.

He says the ruling party is afraid of the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and that is why they want another candidate to stand on the UPND ticket and not Mr. Hichilema.

He says the opposition political party has no intentions of fielding another candidate saying they have confidence in Mr. Hichilema as he will no doubt win the next year’s general elections.

Mr. Lifwekelo says the failure by President Lungu to manage the country’s economy will cost him next year considering that he will be competing with someone who has the capacity to boost Zambia’s economy.

    • Edwin Lifwekelo also…. dont use words like intimidate/intimidation when referring to people who are famuously callled ka,,,, ka lungu, ka sunday chanda, ka Mike Mulongoti etc…
use the intimiadtion word to people like ba or chi ,,,chi GBM,…ba Miyanda, chi mpombo cha ma bomb,,,,,,,,

  1. Some are former pastors, others have said they won’t die before being president. Others are babysitting babies at kasisi, others say they will transform the economy etc etc. We have aBig pool to choose from. Me I want Zambians to give us the best president for all of us

  2. The selective issuance of NRC’s is an indication pf will attempt to rig the election. Opposition open your eyes wider.

    • Mwalila bwangu. No rigging my dear. Some party will just lose clean and square. Every day rigging news. Iyo mwalikwata umwenso. Mukalusa fye bane

  3. Well let’s the best man win politics and politicians have been there for centuries democracy is the system of governance we have in zambia so let the best man win a opposition will always be there and opportunist it’s the way of life people will always be talking in zambia where is sulupwa it’s good that lufwekelo has a decent job now this men used to live by slander I remember lufwekelo on znbc telling us how mulongoti went in government with tropicals now he has nice shoes just becouse by then this man was for lupiya it’s shameful zambian politics poverty at the center stage we will take 100 years to develop if politics becouse full time job for a lot of zambians but thanks God for giving zambians a memory of a chicken maybe it would have been bad if it was like that of a elephant

  4. We know that UPND treats HH like a god and no one dare challenge his position. However, it is just a matter of time before GBM challenges him. We will be watching from the terraces

  5. Lifwekelo do not run your mouth like a rabid dog you are on national radio, have respect for your opponent given that you have lost most by elections in rural areas…You simply do not have the capacity to win any early elections even with Lungu’s failings…as Sun tzu says;”If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain to be in peril.”

  6. So some people are continuing seen progress with this pathetic PF under Lungu aii? Let them continue supporting him as they are comfortable with the economic performance now! Things are really worse,I’m now convinced that PF supporters are not normal!

  7. Comment: UPND, to win by landslide in the land of pastoralists, from Magoye to Kazungula and to lose quite lamentably in the rest of the country, come 2016.

  9. Why are you responding if you aren’t scared President Lung ? PF and ECL will wipe you clean and massively this time around. He has done so much work and developed Zambia in just seven months and by the time its 2016, you chaps you will cry foul.
Additionally HH can’t and will never be President of Zambia a Christian Nation because he worships the devil, he is a mansion we all know this fact. So forget UPND ever being import not in Zambia.
Take a look at how Zambia has transformed under PF and which f00l can ever lose them?

  10. As a UPND member,i suggest HH should now give chance to GBM to try also.HH is a spent force and we want new blood in GBM.Other wise he will make us lose again.

  11. Mind you own UPND business with a non-winning HH. You do not need to be intimidated, but just reminded that HH will lead UPND to another yet frustrating defeat in 2016.

Just put you UPND house in order and get ready for another whacking. HH is failing to create linkages with the masses. He has only concentrated on fighting EL personally instead of selling his losing party. EL is scoring despite the challenges such as electricity shortage and poor performance of the Kwacha. Many people seem satisfied with his leadership despite the odds.

It is clear that HH has an uphill battle in 2016. I feel sorry for those supporting him because they will again be crying in 2016. That is why talking too much does not win you an election. It is the brains of how to do it. It is not the money, but…

    • Are you talking about the same country? Many are dissatisfied and planning to punish ED at the polls. Tis ED who has an uphill battle and is losing ground. UPND cannot take credit for that but like all opposition can certainly play advantage. The biggest problem is what will serve the best interests of Zed and many feel ED is a liability not an asset.

  12. Copperbelt equally is hit by poverty. Today’s Upnd’s chingola rally has definitely induced loose poop to pf caders. GBM /HH will change the style of politics in zambia. No pangas

  13. Unnecessary Brag versus Patriotic Faux Swag. Neither are tasteful options. Tone down the brag or swag and stay on message. Truth is dissatisfaction on the ground grows daily so all parties need to focus on issues and know their ground.

Ironically the ruling lot will revert to type and continue to point out opposition failure in order to do a little ‘smoke and mirrors’ illusion trick to hide their own problems… Try radio silence. If a guy is tripping himself up there is no need to place a trip wire in front of him to claim you brought him down…

  14. Well, Mr Lifwekelo, so you are telling us that regardless of what UPND constitution about electing leaders every five years, it shall be HH as presidential candidate in 2016. What does that tell us about UPND’s respect for the constitution, theirs and the national one? And especially that HH was elected at a very controversial “general convention” of UPND from which the party has never fully recovered as the ghost still haunts your party. One would have thought that renewing HH’s mandate afresh would give him the necessary legitimacy which he lacks so far, as you face defeat in 2016.

  15. Lusakatimes, you are also *****s, you can’t cover UPND in the Copperbelt, may be chagwa instructed you not to cover them, you are useless, used like toilet paper.

  16. Lifwekelo,u re too presumptious. How can u speak on our behalf(electorates)? Did u carry out a referendum to ascertain your position?Remember,u received a beating from Edgar Lungu at his weakest point i.e pf infighting, late payments to farmers, high fuel nd mealie meal prices, high unemployment levels and less campaigning time. What do u think has changed?Sober up!

  17. Mr Pelekelo,to unseat a ruling party in Africa u need extremely overwhelming numbers, not just Southern, western and N/western provinces only.U re underestimating/demeaning/underating your opponent, this is a recipe for heavy defeat. In any game,u dont underate your opponents.Sir,mark my words,u re headed for another severe defeat come 2016.

  18. @Chombela;m being sincere and objective. For Upnd to form government its not anytime soon, maybe after 2031.I say so,because your HH is still commanding support in southern, has lost grounds in northwestern and western provinces and has literally no support in influential provinces i.e Copperbelt and Lusaka leaving out traditional pf strongholds Muchinga,Luapula,Northern and Eastern Provinces. So,i dont know where u guys re drawing your conclusions from. The voting pattern has not changed yet and moreover u re facing Powerful Edgar, who is incharge of all government machinery including ECZ.Upnd face reality, dont assume things, work hard to lose with bettet margin.

  19. Every PF snr member is feeling the heat from HH. They will sonn reach a point of admission thru unnecessary intimidation and use of force. The 1% margin in the last election has already been sealed no matter what they will do…

  20. Bwalya Chilufya please I disagree with you on HH. Read above how people have realized HH is a spent force. Others are even thinking of GBM to make us be ruled by PF forever! We have enough UPND breed to whitewash PF at the earliest possible opportunity, but alas, too much bickering and HH syndrome all over. The man should be quickly thrown in the backyard and will position dynamic and vibrant person for 2016. I will ALWAYS REPEAT, do not think of me when PF takes the day in 2016 because I have spoken and printed my lungs out on the need for an HH IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT!
