Guy Scott was responsible for the Fuel crisis early this year

The President’s Special Aide for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has maintained former vice president Guy Scott was behind the fuel crisis Zambia faced early this year.

Mr. Chanda says it is clear that at any given time, a country is supposed to have a minimum of 16 days of fuel stocks but that at the time that President Edgar Lungu assumed office in January this year, the country only had fuel supplies for one day.

He has told Qfm News by telephone that this means that if there were any incompetence, fraud or corruption behind the fuel shortage in the country at that time it must have taken place in the three months that Dr. Scott acted President following the death of President Michael Sata.

Mr. Chanda says having been the one in charge of the running affairs of the country Dr. Scott should answer the question as to whether these facts are in dispute or not.

He has wondered whether Dr. Scott can also dispute whether it is a fact or not that the current contract for supplying fuel in the country was signed when he was acting republican President.

Mr. Chanda says he personally does not see at what point the fuel shortage experienced early this year could have been the problem caused by President Lungu.

He states that President Lungu’s only involvement was to sort out the fuel crisis and which he did.

The President’s Special Aide for Press and Public Relations says for the fact that he deals with facts he is not bothered by Dr. Scott’s ranting about what he thinks of him.

He says this is because he knows very Dr. Scott’s complexes and what he thinks of indigenous Zambians and therefore his judgments do not trouble him.

And GOVERNMENT has advised former vice-president Guy Scott to refrain from attacking the Patriotic Front (PF) because as a founder member of the party, he has the obligation and responsibility to defend its performance, existence and growth.

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili said it was shocking that Dr Scott could attack the persona and character of special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda for stating the facts that there was an attempt to sabotage President Edgar Lungu soon after his victory in the January presidential election.

Mr Kambwili said while he was gravely disappointed by Dr Scott’s remarks about the performance of Government under President Lungu, he had refrained himself from attacking the former acting president because he had a lot of respect for him.

Mr Kambwili said the PF was still holding Dr Scott in high esteem as the former vice-president of the ruling party and the country and that it was surprising that the former acting president had not come to terms with the reality that President Lungu was given the mandate to govern Zambians.

He told the Daily Nation that Government did not want to enter into political altercations with Dr Scott because the former vice-president had contributed to the governance of the country.

He said if Dr Scott was of the view that things were wrong and that President Lungu had failed, he had the duty and obligation to advise Government instead of launching unwarranted attacks against the leadership of President Lungu.

“I am extremely disappointed with the attitude Dr Scott has adopted against the PF which is his own political party. He is a founder and as Government, we hold Dr Scott in high esteem because he contributed a lot to the growth of the party. It is our expectation that Dr Scott should refrain from attacking his own party and Government but should instead cultivate a culture of advising us for the good of the larger Zambia. We are not going to attack him but let him know that we respect him for his contribution to the party and the country,” Mr Kambwili said.

Mr Kambwili said Dr Scott should be working towards helping the PF succeed in delivering its promises to the people.

He said the PF was undertaking a lot of developmental programmes across the country and that the economic challenges the country was going through should not be apportioned to President Lungu who had been in State House only for seven months.’

  1. Implosion on a grand scale. I reckon Scott could have done a better job than the vote with pangas crew. One step away from blaming your dead visionary. Ironically that may finally put you in sync with those that figure Zed leadership has been problematic since 1964 inception…

    • Why is everyone of stating the facts that Sata messed up everything. Lungu in the last 7 months has failed too.

    • Cognizant of the fact that after being fired from MMD, with help of Tony Leon of SA’s National Party (Nasionale Party), Guy Scott started his Lima Party with Ben Kapita funded and modeled on the Nats ideology but failed only to be employed by Sata 18 months on after PF was formed. In the transition period Scott proved by every measure of national interest parameters that he was reckless, a clear and present dander to national peace. God and people power saved Zambia from turmoil. His scavenger hunt lifestyle on kids and addiction to whisky, was used as coercive elements in dictating him into criminal surrender of state power scheme to Kabimba.

    • kikikiki,,,,,, now Guy Scot is controlling fuel, ,,, HH in charge of loadsheding,,,and Nawakwi is sitting on the melting kwacha,,, really??! PF govt are jokers,,, the least they can do is admit ,,, things are falling apart,,,

    • @Ndobo what should PF admit to, that they got a wrong president or that Lungu should have changed those ministers Sata used to call that useless?

    • Chanda, please spear us internal PF matters. Do recall that Scott and His Excellence President Lungu both belong to PF. This implies both represent or represented PF, hence give us solutions and not blame game of yours.

  2. I thought Mr Chanda started the blame game in the media and Guy responded to defend his integrity. Well, what ever the case indications are that Guy is not wanted in the party and he knows that. I am sure it is just a matter of time the mouse will be let off the trap.

    • Ba Me – Will you please counter what Amos has said rather than defend this fuulish, good for nothing, and very lucky old man.

  3. Ignore Guy Scott as most Zambians know him as a very sacrilegious character in the Zambian melting pot of diversity. The Pig scandal over which President Chiluba fired him as his minister of Agriculture for scamming distraught Zambians at the time out of millions of US dollars during the swine fever, manifested his wickedness. Chocking the country of critical gas is therefore no big thing to him. After MMD, with help of Tony Leon of SA’s National Party (Nasionale Party), Scott started his Lima Party with Ben Kapita funded and modeled on the Nats ideology but failed only to be employed by Sata 18 months on after PF was formed. Due to his scavenger hunt lifestyle on kids and addiction to whisky, he was shot a good number of coercive pictures only to be used to dictate him in a blackmail…

    • Typical nonsense from the Chagwa Lungu/Davies Chama cartel.Diverting the public’s attention from real economic issues affecting them. The fuel crisis earlier this year was as a result of RB’s son criminally purchasing “crude oil” for INDENI instead of the required semi finished “feedstock”.That was a terrible back door deal that impacted the entire nation. INDENI was stuck with a product it could not process. So you can’t cheat everybody.

  4. These empty tins we call leaders will never take responsibility for anything…even the contaminated crude oil debacle the incompetent Yaluma has still not got back to us. Maybe when Yaluma resigns and joins the opposition some empty tin we come and state that he was at fault.

  5. ACTUALLY MOST ZAMBIANS AGREE WITH SCOTT. VOTING LUNGU IS THE MOST REGRETTABLE POLITICAL BLUNDER ZAMBIAN VOTERS HAVE IN THE HISTORY OF ZAMBIA. SERVE FOR A FEW PEOPLE THAT ARE ENJOYING THE PROCEEDS OF THE RAMPANT CORRUPTION AND SALARIES/ALLOWANCES THEY ARE GETTING FROM THE PF MOST ZAMBIAN VOTERS REGRET VOTING FOR LUNGU. NOT PF BUT LUNGU! SOME IN THE PF ARE ACTUALLY STARTING TO SHOW CHARACTER AND PRINCIPAL AND ARE STANDING UP TO LUNGU AND HIS INCOMPETENCE. I WAS ONCE A PF SUPPORTER BUT AFTER ALL THIS I RADIATE SO MUCH REGRET I AM EVEN ASHAMED OF MYSELF. TRUTH SUNK IN THE DAY I FOUND OUT SATA WAS TERMINALLY ILL. LOOK NOW WHAT A SHAME!
AEEH REF! PYEEE PYEEE PYEEE! SUBSTITUTE!

    • “advised former vice-president Guy Scott to refrain from attacking the Patriotic Front (PF) because as a founder member of the party, he has the obligation and responsibility to defend its performance, existence and growth”

Rubbish! If any party FAILS to keep its promises why should anyone “defend” it?? True Zambians hold their allegiance to Mother Zambia. Not a bunch of crooks and corrupt criminals of a failed political party.

It is a case of KOSWE jumping a sinking PABWATO – simple as that!

Who want to be on a ship with a drunk for a Captain??

    • You should have stayed in the PF, although Some may blame ECL for the economic turmoil people should also understand & research that the world over is going through this phase. Continue being ashamed of yourself.

    • Your Sata created this mess with his “I don’t care” attitude. He did both to ask or explain. To his last day he never addressed the nation on his illness or the state of the economy then. Chagwa is following in the same footsteps but the shoes are too heavy for him. Do him a favour, apologise to him for messing up his name. He will forever be known to me as the fall guy.

  6. @ADVISER. I TAKE IT YOU DID NOT SEE THE MULTITUDES AT THE GAME THAT WHERE CALLING FOR A SUB? OR THE THOUSANDS IN NW PROVINCE THAT WHERE YELLING FOR CHANGE RIGHT IN LUNGUS FACE AND CONVEY? THE VIDEO EVIDENCE IS FREELY AVAILABLE. AT YOUR REQUEST WE CAN FORWARD IT TO YOU. I WAS IN DENIAL AND DID NOT BELIEVE THE REPORTS UNTIL I SAW SEVERAL VIDEOS FROM DIFFERENT FOOTAGE AND DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE STADIUM. IT WAS HAPPENING AROUND THE ENTIRE STADIUM. EEVIDENCE IS EVIDENCE!

  7. Scott and his cartel members are *****s who want to enrich themselves with no regards of national interests. God and the people of Zambia rescued this great nation from the cartel of Scott, Kabimba and Mmembe who are very dangerous and don’t have regards for the poor. Look at Mmembe and his Past Newspaper, he is failing to pay his workers and this is the same chap who failed to report the most corrupt oil deal we have ever had in the history of this country, The Trafigura Oil Deal.. just because his pappet Kabimba was the one who signed and they were the beneficiaries!! Scott should behave!!

  8. The blame talk will go on forever. Put the blame on the technocrats who are directly responsible for making decisions on what ought be done. If a right decision is made by them and the minister fails to establish a policy to be followed, then the technocrats must protest in anger to the president directly that things are not being done. I don’t see anything wrong with this approach. The only thing I see is that as citizens we are afraid to openly come out and point it out to somebody that they are messing up. Those in employment can not do this because they are not protected from losing their jobs. As such the whole country ends up being affected and the blame talk continues to no end. One Zambia One Nation.

  9. Reading in between the lines, Guy Scott is the biggest threat to Lungu’s aspiration to be re-leected in 2016. Otherwise, why the sudden focus on him? While MCS was sick in London, ECL was acting president, while people kept talking about GS as a lame vice president. Yes, he acted for three months after MCS’s death, during a period of confusion, a confusion precipitated by ECL’s thirst for power. His followers, including the current VP, brought confusion, making the government dysfunctional with ministers supporting one side or the other. How do you then blame GS for the dwindling reserves during that interval? Let’s be more honest and reflective, if ECL will have a chance to win in 2016. If you ask me, Kabimba is the next president.

  10. Mr. Chanda, please reserve yours 1mbecility for your “comrades in arm”. Who the F-ck are you to tell us anything? Just another sold-out hungry 1mbecile

  11. The truth is Scott did not want Lungu to be president even after it was clear he was the choice of many zambians including the late Sata.
After failing to stop Lungu he wanted to destroy the PF. He is not credible enough to talk about Lungu. We all know he and M’membe are for Kariba.

  12. I have told you several times that Sata was right in calling most of his ministers as useless. Dr Scott did an excellent job managing the nation when PF was at the point of breaking. We had fuel and electricity and not this Chanda fo.o.l comes to lie to the nation to try and protect his pocket. Kambwil too should also know that Scott has the right to speak out when things are not going well. You are the ones who should seek his wisdom instead of asking you to come to him. Scott is also free to support whichever party he wants to support just like RB is not supporting PF. Zambia is where it is because we have people who know what is wrong with PF but are afraid to speak against party practices because they want to protect their pockets instead of protecting the interests of all Zambians.

  13. Comment: A bunch of people blaming Guy Scott who acted for 3months and at the same time this same bunch of people defending EC Lungu who has been , is still president for 7months .Please note that a Govt in waiting’ s duty is to provide checks and balance while those in Govt is to implement good governance and services to its citizens.

  14. I am begining to enjoy this! Wait for the dissolution of Parley and the true extent of the massive earthquake in PF will be laid bare for all to see

  15. The media statements are not necessary here. It is possible that fuel reserves were low at that particular time. However things have moved since that time. It is better to go to court or to contact the ACC if fuel was stolen at least some fraud was commited. It is highly unlikely that one party member and national leader is more racist than other members. An act of judgment on aperson could be biased and wrong. It is time to concentrate on the work to be done.

  16. Leaving in the past wont help us. Let us deal with the present situation. Every good thing now in the country is attributed to the President. Equally all the bad ones to the same. Strive to be good. Blame game is recipe for poor leadership. Be aware that 80% of the rum ours turn out to be true no matter how much you ignore them. No smoke without fire.
Note that GS was PF Vice President, still PF. Any derogatory remarks by the high office indicates failure of PF. Please admit your failures and look for solutions.
Disappointed citizen and wonder what advice he rendering to the president!!

  17. Comment: GS wanted to finish PF when he realised his plans had failed. The way he treated ECL,it was really sad. I for one,a newspaper can not make think or who to vote for. That’s why some media think they are the one that dictates the leadership of the country. When a new party ascends to power and ignore this media,it starts to attack the new GRZ. Its dangerous for any GRZ to associate with this kind of media because you can easily sell the country.

  18. Dr Scott should swallow his pride and throw his support behind ECL…..the Cartel will never rule this country. The devil you know is better than the angel you do not know.PF is a great Party and has done alot for this country.

  19. Guy Scott for those of you who don’t him is a scoundrel, Please UPND supporters don’t make the same mistakes made by past opposition. Have you forgotten how HH referred to this man ‘Muzungu wo pusa maningi” “he is a silly white man’….Scott believes his skin color should open doors for him, he has little regard for indigenous Zambians and forgets he is a run away Scottish man who should have died by now in some dingy flat in the UK. This is the same useless man who went public to call south Africans names almost causing a diplomatic upheaval. This was a man Sata carried but behind his back called him names. Lastly he is slightly demented and has the shakes, Sata never allowed him to act as President for 3 years..ever wonder why?

    • Mukwikwile, your comments are racist and uninformed. Zambia lags behind in development because people like you have an inferiority complex and see race as a basis for judging people. GS was in politics long before ECL. By the way, even if he had shakes, it does not necessarily equate to dementia. Lack of education is a major flaw in our country. By the way, GS is better educated than ECL a middle of the road student at UNZA who failed as a practicing lawyer (information in public domain). Please investigate information and not use vulgarity as a way to attract people’s attention.

  20. People of Zambia should remember that Lungu said himself that he had no vision. but people went ahead and voted for an empty tin( Lungu),so what else can expect from a person who stood in front of every one and confirmed that he had no plans. Scott was right now you are seeing were this guy is raking the nation. In the world only Zambians are the only people who went and voted for an empty president without manifesto.

  21. The Cartel is the one misleading him otherwise Dr Sott is a good leader.PF should bring him closer……he was a chola boy for Sata and the best he can do to honour his late friend is to continue supporting the party that saw him become Veep for this country.

  22. @ ba zambia

You are great liars as UPND.What vision do you yapp about ? PF has a manifesto and that is the one which gives direction for the President because it is the blue print for the govt.Zambians will not listen to your silly accusations of the so called vision story.

  23. I never knew one day we would reach a level where we would have a reckless drunkard for a president. Someone who would sleep in a cheap pub in broad day light when very drunk! People rallied behind this man not because he was the best candidate but because they wanted to vote out the man who showed vision and character to turn the fortunes of this country around because he is Tonga and because he is wealth and he didn’t drink from Chawama like pubs! Just those reasons.
