PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama says MMD president Nevers Mumba has resorted to attacking President Lungu because the opposition leader is allegedly bitter that he failed to compel the ruling party into a merger with his political party.

Mr Chama said Dr Mumba allegedly frequented State House in search for a job but that the PF turned him down after subjecting him to scrutiny.

“It is common knowledge that Dr Mumba frequented State House but we saw that his quest for a merger with the PF would not work well, so he was not successful,” he said.

Mr Chama said in an interview yesterday that PF recollected that Dr Mumba left his political party, the National Christian Coalition.

Mr Chama said the ruling party could not take the risk of getting into a merger with Dr Mumba.

He said the PF opted to deal with committed MMD members such as Senga Hill member of Parliament (MP) Kapembwa Simbao and his Petauke Central counterpart Dora Siliya, who genuinely want to work with the ruling party.

Mr Chama said Dr Mumba has allegedly contributed to the demise of the MMD.

“MMD is a finished party and Dr Mumba wanted to use it as a bargaining tool but fortunately he was not successful in his bid,” he said.

Mr Chama was reacting to a story in the Post newspaper in which Dr Mumba is quoted disparaging President Lungu.
He urged Dr Mumba, as a Christian, to desist from politics of insults.

Mr Chama said it is unfortunate that some politicians resort to insults whenever President Lungu refuses to offer them jobs.

  1. Let him join the party of trybalists who are desperately looking for people. I haven’t mentioned any names here if you are guilty respond to my comment.

    • politics of insults from both ruling and opposition parties must just end. they dont help our country in any way
i know zambians love politics at the expense of development. we accept to live mu fiko around us and we are fine as long as we can do politics
everthing in zambia is politicized inclunding….s*x

Even the opposition cant inspire confidence in the people and offer alternatives….

what a shame for a nation with so much potential to develop

  2. In one hotel there was a notice, it read” Do not insult our staff by giving them tips”. In one corner, the workers put a box, in the fashion of a suggestion box, labeled”Insults”. Each time PF responds to tips, proposals, comments, observations, even alternatives to fixing our situations from the opposition; such suggestions are labelled insults. The follwing day, they challenge the opposition not just to critise but offer solutions; the circus goes on. Phew, it chasing a tail trying to be useful in this government. Let opposition put up a box where they can drop in advice but label it “insults” it may be taken seriously.

    • I have read the open letter from Nevers Mumba to the president and I have not seen any insult contained therein. So am wondering what Chama is talking about. Misango you are very correct.

  3. Pathetic! So now Mumba seems to have lost both his political and religious flock. But just take it easy, I know how painful it is for a ruling party to be locked out in the cold and become the opposition. RB noticed the campaign mood and rushed to the”ark” before the rains. He had suffered greatly in the cold after losing to the no nonsense Michael Sata. Only the strong like Kaunda can survive as age was not on his side to stay politically relevant. Search for your bible, wipe the dust and go back to your calling. You seem not adjust to the political shock wave. I equally think Lungu is preparing for his turn. Lets wait and see.

    • Mumba is still in contention at the political scene. This is why Chama is annoyed with him. For how long will PF dodge advice and call Mumba names. By the way the pastor is making a lot of political sense nowadays – faka speed man of God.

  4. Dr. Nevers Mumba has never disparaged President Lungu. The truth is that the PF view any opposing view to theirs as insults. Its clear that Edgar Lungu is a spent force who has nothing to offer except to fly across the world like a sick Grass Hopper.

  5. On a percentage scale of 0 – 100, how much opposition does your party find acceptable? It’s my own fault. I clicked on the article and find myself living déjà vu…

  6. This Chama thing and his deputy Mumbi Phiri along with Sunday Chanda and Kambwili are a terrible accursed combination full of destructive venom which is working like a fast dose which is destroying bashi Tasila and pf. Mumba did not insult lungu but correctly advised him. It is Chama, Mumbi, Chanda and Kambwili who are are full of insults, and they are so full of tribalism and they are so divisive. Thankfully the majority of Zambians can no longer be fooled and swayed by their cantankerous mouth full of political hemorrhage and diarrhea. For pf the boat has already sank permanently in the quagmire. 2016 only HH and UPND.

  7. Mumba thought he could walk into the boots of MMD and become republican president but how wrong he was it takes much more and also people have elephant memories…remember Zambia shall be free and how you manipulated the coffers including buying a selling of a home meant for the pastor? Your efforts to relocate to Nambia and the money you wasted. How you abandoned two political parties first for the post of Veep under LPM whom you tried to topple then later for a post as Ambassador to Canada where you engaged in undiplomatic trends. Whatmore if you became president?….now as a failed politician you cannot hear the Lord saying come to me all yea that are heavy laden and you will know peace for surely brother you are on the wide road. Repent and return to his ways!

  8. THIS IS THE NEVERS MUMBA WHO LATE PRESIDNET SATA WAS SCARED OF. THIS IS THE NEVERS MUMBA THAT THE ENTIRE PF, ESPECIALLY KABIMBA, WAS SCARED OF. BUT EVERY DOG HAS NOW BEEN UNLEAHED. RHIS IS THE NECERS MUMBA THAT SUNDAY CHANDA WAS INSULTING JUST PEIOR TO THE MMD PRESIDENTILA ELECTIONS WHICH WALLOPED HIS CANDIDATE MUTATI.

FOR RHOSE WITH SHORT MEMORIES, SUNDAY CHANDA HAS A LONG HISTORY OF HATRED TOWARDS NEVERS BECAUSE HE WAS FHE HOPELESS CAMPAING MANAGER FOR HONORABLE MUTATI.

BEING A GENTLEMAN, AS SOON AS CHANDA UNLEASHED SOME IMPRINTABLES AGAINST NEVERS, MUTATI QUICKLY DISTANCED HIMSELF FROM USELESS CHANDA. IN JUST A MATTER OF DAYS NEVERS WON THE MMD PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION BY A LAND-SLIDE. IGNORE CHANDA. HE IS A FAILURE WHO HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY PROPER GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT. HE…

  9. One word that has become trendy with the coming of PF on the scene when they have no convincing explanation on any raised issue is the word “BITTER”

  10. Mumba seems to be a classic sebana wikute case. But then again, this whole bunch of losers seem to squealers who are revealing large stomachs and small genitalia, bed-wetting problems and marijuana smoking and other even more serious vices. Is it small wonder there are leaks of secret documents in this pathetic government more than any other time in the history of this country? Stop electing f00ls who were always sitting at the back of class in school – for the few who even saw the inside of a proper classroom that is.

  11. Chama and Kambwili must have gone to the same school and flopped the same grade. Both are so nonsensically loud and nauseating. Ok some free education: Chama, as much as Mumba is a useless politician don’t you understand that he is in the opposition? Yes these are the people opposing your party and its leader. They aren’t supposed to act like you: praise Lungu for invisible achievements. They have to criticise him so that they can have their chance to take over. You can’t go inventing reasons for every opposition man criticising your King. If you think Lungu is infallible you are very much in the minority
