Forced early marriages continue in Mungwi

Share

School authorities in Chilombwa area of Mungwi District have expressed concern at the high rate of early marriages in the locality.

Chilombwa Primary School Head teacher, Charles Lesa, said some parents in the area are in the habit of marrying off their children at a tender age.

Mr Lesa has since appealed to law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the vice are brought to book.

He was speaking when Malole Member of Parliament, Christopher Yaluma, visited the school yesterday.
Mr Lesa also called on village headmen to take a proactive role in ending early marriages.

He said efforts by school management and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to sensitize the community on dangers of the vice have not yielded much fruit.

  1. It is not FORCED.
I started having girlfriends at 15, even less. Ine naba mistress nalebafwaya, balekana fye ati uli mwaiche. I escaped several “marriages”, because most girls wanted to marry or have children. It is the girls to blame, instead of refusing they are the ones tendering boys like husbands. I never washed my kaki uniform grade 5, girls used to wash or my sisters went to retrieve from my girl-friends (wife).
FORCED when Mumbi Phiri is busy talking at seeing nakedness of men??? So Ester Lungu, lets see what you can teach those girls.
