Share

Finance minister Alexander Chikwanda (m) with Barclays Bank Zambia Board chairman Jacob Sikazwe (I) and Barclays Zambia managing director during the official opening of Barclays Solwezi Branch
Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has asked Finance Minister to issue a comprehensive statement in Parliament on the depreciation of the Kwacha.

Dr Matibini said that the Finance Minister should issue the statement in the course of this week.

The Speaker said this in his ruling on a point of order raised by Chadiza MP Allan Mbewe.

Mr. Mbewe raised a point of order on why the Minister of Finance was quiet and not assure the nation on what interventions Government has put in place to address the depreciation of the Kwacha.

  1. Can someone ask the other damn damn to address the nation on the same. What’s wrong with these people and their phobia to address the republic on the state of the nation.

  2. It is not rocket science, the Zambian Kwacha falls everytime the country is going to the polls. In this case, Zambia is going to the polls in 2016. The kwacha will continue on being on this free fall from now until the election. BOZ should look inn their books or do a regression analysis and they will agree with me that just prior to the 2011 election the kwacha started behaving strangely. It has nothing to do with quoting prices in dollars, BOZ should know this. The solution is just for ECL to call for election early before too much damage is done to his chances of bouncing back. He needs to start on a clean slate. Too many ghosts of Sata hanging around! If he plans to wait until September 2016 to hold elections, the Kwacha will be so crazy, that Chainama will not be enough to contain it…

  3. Wat r they even going to say in d statement..not a single chap in the pf government is fit to be called honourable…all these mps n ministers are enjoying n feeling their bellies n pockets all on account of their drunkard unscrupulous corrupt leader..called chagwa…if I had my way I would hang all of them by their genitals..kalleza…anyone disagreeing with me are lunatics or completely devoid of education(dunderheads)..on wat account can Zambian ppl still let this guy stay n b called their leader…he has bloody put the country on sale…

  4. Surely what do you expect Fossil Chikwanda to say apart from the usual claptrap about external factors and then confuse the illiterate MPs with financial jargon like he always does.

    • Who asked what tribe you are? Is written somewhere that Bembas shall not vote for hh or what. It is not tribe be realistic. Join lungu for repentance fasting and prayer on 18 october for such shallow thinking

  5. @Jacob Zume, its no secret that all manner of trash has been thrown at HH and the UPND by the SG and Vice of SG of PF, all these are aimed at tarnishing the image of HH simply because he is Tonga. so when you hear someone say i am Bemba but i will vote foe HH, it means there is an underlying explanation somewhere that you should dig. its also the same with a Tonga stating that he will vote for PF. it simply means that its expected for all Tongas to vote for UPND and all Bembas for PF. you can see even from the 20th January elections that the voting pattern was purely on regional basis and both PF and UPND were guilty parties.

  6. @Ine wine you are right that’s why I SIDO MARK has been preaching against Tribalism since 1996 when it started to seriously show its ugly face under Chiluba second term. I have professed that if Zambia does not discard this vice will be cursed and remain poor for a very long time. Bloodshed will follow in no time Zambia will be another Somalia. I pray that Zambians should vote for quality leadership and not tribesmen .HH has the quality lets try him for now ,we start afresh. All those in PF were MMD, we need a fresh start.

  7. the issue above was on the kwacha a sudden turn its tribal again .all politician are the same the same Lungu was UPND Mark maybe the green party .we dnt need to shed blood bro
