There was panic this afternoon at the Post Newspapers offices on Bwinjimfumu road in Lusaka’s Rhodespark area when unknown gunman fired shots inside the newsroom.
The shots which came from the roof top sent Reporters and other staff members in a state of panic.
No one was hurt.
Post Newspapers News Editor Joseph Mwenda confirmed the incident and that the company is suspecting that the target was Editor in Chief Fred M’membe who was not in the office at the time.
Police rushed to the scene and retrieved the bullets but did not find any cartridges.
Police Spokesperson Charity Chanda confirmed that there was a shooting incident at the Post Newspapers but said details will be released later.
It might be KAIZER ZULU, DAVIES CHAMA or KAMBWILI, all PF BANDITS!
Otherwise, The Zambian economy is in rotting whilst vision-less PF has squandered $660,000 to hire a chartered jet to USA! The US$ is now trading almost at K15,000 and the British Pound is around K20,000 because of vision less Lungu with his PF cadres.

It is easy to understand that the shooter was some distance away. The bullet landed on the roof and after damageing the roof it drops down harmlessly. What they can do is to interview people who might be in the direction of bullet whole, might have seen someone after hearing the gunshot. At 12 pa daylight.
“No one was hurt”, how convenient! This clearly is not the work of a professional and is aimed at putting some meat on the story about threats from ECL to the Editor.
@Uwakwisano. I am not a fun of M’membe but on this EL must be a suspect. Even if his not, the people around are the ones who are geared towards such kind of behaviour because they follow the word of their leader.
I don’t speak from without. The whole episode was organized by PF(Kambwili) with few PF police cadres to simply scare Meembe and shut his mouth .It was not intended to kill anybody ,it was just a warning of what is yet to come should Meembe continue reporting against PF failed leadership. They know Police will never catch them so they all the pleasure to play with Guns like Kaizer Zulu and Chama did. This Useless PF Government with its chief Pimp Kaminamisa Lungu will pay heavily for the crimes.

Looks like freedom of speech got a warning shot in the air. No matter what one may feel towards media, this is unacceptable at any level. We may all speculate and blame whom we feel is responsible but ultimately the real warning shot is to government and the people to condemn such acts unequivocally.

This is sad. What were they trying to achieve? This should not be torelated in our country. The gun culture will worsen by what is happening in our nation if not controlled. I am sure there are CCTV cameras at the Post Newspaper. Let the Police use the CCTV footage and bring the culprit to book. This gunman obviously came driving and the security guards should assist to identify the type of vehicle the criminals where driving. Again this is sad affairs and we cannot allow such a thing to happen in our country. We have enjoyed peace in Zambia and this is uncalled for.
He might have not been driving but shooting from the neighbour’s roof top. There are tall buildings around the post offices. They should interrogate the neighbours as well. This a well connected attempt.

The whole thing appears staged. The state machinery has subtler ways of eliminating their opponents than resorting to such crude and noisy methods of dealing with their enemies. I suspect this is a self – fulfilling prophecy contrived by Fred Mmembe after his allegation that Edgar Lungu wanted to kill him. This whole thing was staged in order to arouse sympathy and to confirm his allegations against EL. The man is simply playing victim to dupe the naïve and gullible among us.

You cannot rule out the staging by Post editor himself. Given the kind of publicity and sympathy that this man wants after realizing that he had lost the influence that he dubiously won in the previous governments. It is most likely to be a sympathy seeking maneuver. We do not know how many awards he has won recently since the sensational one many decades ago. Even those who awarded him the prize then have realized how wrong they were.
I foresee Zambians arming themselves with guns because lawliness is taking over our peaceful nation. Citizens are insercure and can not depend on police enforcement agency who have become party cadres and dont even know their responsibilities. The manner in which Kaizer Zulu has been handled has scared Mmembe to death, moreover with eminent arrest in for his participation in the very recent leakage and publishing of the President’speech. This whole shooting incident seems stage-managed, from where I am standing. There are far too many unanswered questions. Let us wait and see what the authorities investigating this issue will come up with. Otherwise, I take this whole episode with a pinch of salt, lol!!
