Zambia is reaping the benefits of Zimbabwean farmers hounded off their land at the height of violent evictions against white land owners .
Zambian authorities say their numbers have almost doubled the population of commercial farmers from 400 to 750.
A While Zimbabwe will need to import grain this season, Zambia’s fortunes have been reversed.

  1. Citizenship? He came in 2011 and that’s an old video yet he was given citizenship? It’s so easy to become a Zambian citizen as long as you have the money.

    • EDIT: Citizenship? He came in 2001 and that’s an old video yet he was given citizenship? It’s so easy to become a Zambian citizen as long as you have the money.

    • There is nothing sinister about him getting citizenship. The constitution allows any one, who is in gainful employment and has lived in Zambia for at least 12 consecution years to apply for citizenship. It is, however, not automatic that you’ll get it after applying. Some rich people have been denied because they have not been in good standing during the tenure of their stay.

  2. THERE IS NOTHING TO EXCITE US HERE. AS LONG AS ZAMBIAN LEADERS DO NOT STOP THE THIEVING SYNDROME, ZAMBIA IS HEADING NOWHERE. SOME ONE FROM A BRAND KNEW PARTY OF UPND SHOULD BRING BACK SANITY INTO OUR COUNTRY’S POLITICAL SCENE.PF SHOULD BE BOOTED OUT.

  3. What a cowardly uncle tom argument. Is he trying to sell the idea that Zambia is better of because it has a few Rhodie farmers? This is what these people do in Zimbabwe: 1) take credit for everything that goes right and 2) blame the Blacks for everything that goes wrong.

Zambian farmers grow Zambian food, and Zimbabwean farmers grow Zimbabwean food.

And now they want to claim credit for the positive treatment of Zambia in the media, while Zimbabwe is sufferingi from the economic sanctions their MDC helped put the country on?

    • When I lived in Zambia I had the opportunity of working with these Zim farmers. I met some on their first day of arrival in Zambia and can relate to his story. Most of these guys first stayed in tents as they developed the farmers and later built houses using burnt bricks. What I am sure about is that they grow maize, soya beans, wheat, tobacco and potatoes, which crops cannot be said to be only Zimbabwean. It is true that the small scale farmers account for most of the production of maize but we cannot discount the role of commercial farmers (Zambian or Zimbabwean). The only issue I have is the preferential treatment that they got from the banks, which lent them millions of dollars on day one yet existing farmers were denied that opportunity.

And then people ‘marvel’ at why they’re supposed to be successful. When will the Zambian government treat Zambian farmers the same way?

  4. @mop, as for these banks even some of the blacks who work there are equally bad. They reject loan applications even when you meet all the set criteria. Rejection is out of pure jealousy.
