President Edgar Lungu says he is ready to work with the youth in the various sectors of the economy to quicken national development.

Speaking when he met youths who benefited from the Nelson Mandela Washington fellowship at State House this afternoon, President Lungu challenged youths to make themselves available for national duty.

He has encouraged youths in the country to challenge the future and take advantage of opportunity that come their way.

On the question by one of the youths whether the PF will consider adopting young for the 2016 elections, President Lungu said the PF is ready to adopt youth as candidates as long as they make themselves available.

And speaking at the same function, US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Schultz said Africa’s future belongs to its young people.

He says young leaders are gaining the skills and connections needed to accelerate their own careers and contribute to strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa.

Meanwhile a disabled participant Mundia Temba called on government to include youths in the development of the nation especially the disabled.

And the youths have since thanked president Lungu for been inclusive in his quest to develop the nation.

  1. Is it because of the letter the youth wrote? Politicians have neglected youth in many ways as asking them to fend for themselves, yet their children are in private school in Zambia or abroad. Abroad they pay in $US and a college education per semester is an equivalent of $5,000. Now imagine a politician paying for 4 children abroad, for rent, food, pocket money, insurance for medication, and other miscellaneous items. Kambwili has children abroad and a wife so who is paying for their education and upkeep? This includes most politicians past and present. It’s easily traceable just call schools abroad to get information.
